HOME How to get OSRS How to Get to Moss Giants Osrs

Moss Giants are mid-level Slayer and combat training monsters found in several locations across Gielinor. They’re a popular target for low-to-mid level accounts farming Big Bones for Prayer training, and they’re one of the better early Slayer assignments for accounts working toward higher-level content. Multiple locations mean you’re never far from a Moss Giant regardless of your account’s travel options.

  • Multiple locations: Varrock Sewers, Crandor, Brimhaven Dungeon, Corsair Cove Dungeon, Chaos Tunnels
  • No Slayer level requirement — any combat level can fight them
  • Big Bones drop guaranteed — each kill yields one Big Bones (worth ~250 GP each)
  • Mossy Key drop: 1/150, used to enter Bryophyta’s lair for a boss fight
  • Corsair Cove Dungeon requires the Corsair Curse quest — the quietest and most efficient location

How to Get to Moss Giants in OSRS

Moss Giants appear in several locations with different travel requirements. The best location depends on your account’s quest completions and travel options.

Varrock Sewers (No Requirements)

The most accessible location — the Varrock Sewers are entered via a manhole south of Varrock’s east bank. No quests required. Moss Giants are in the western section of the sewers. The area is popular and often crowded on busy worlds. Travel: Varrock lodestone or Varrock Teleport.

Brimhaven Dungeon (No Quest Required, 875 GP Entry)

A large dungeon on Karamja with a significant Moss Giant population. Entry costs 875 GP to the gate guard (or free with a Brimhaven Dungeon Entrance Pass from Karamja Diary). Travel: Amulet of Glory to Karamja then run south, or Charter Ship to Brimhaven.

Corsair Cove Dungeon (Requires Corsair Curse)

The quietest Moss Giant location with low competition. Accessible after completing The Corsair Curse quest (short, low requirements). Travel: Corsair Cove Teleport (from the Corsair Cove Resource Area unlocked during the quest).

Crandor (Requires Dragon Slayer I)

Crandor has Moss Giants on the surface and in the dungeon area. Requires Dragon Slayer I completion. Travel: Boat from Port Sarim to Crandor via the map location (takes a few steps with quest completion).

ℹ️ For efficiency with a Slayer task, Brimhaven Dungeon or Corsair Cove Dungeon are the strongest choices — less competition, decent density, and easy access to banking via their respective routes.

Moss Giants Combat Tips

Moss Giants have 60 Hitpoints and a max hit of roughly 9. They’re weak to slash attacks. No prayer is required at moderate Defence levels — even mid-tier melee gear takes minimal damage per kill.

Mossy Key drops are worth collecting — they grant access to Bryophyta, a Moss Giant boss fight in the sewers, which drops the Bryophyta’s Essence (used to upgrade the Bryophyta set) and has a rare Rune Pouch drop at 1/118.

OSRS Moss Giants FAQ

Below are the most common questions about locating and farming Moss Giants in OSRS.

Where Is the Best Place to Kill Moss Giants in OSRS?

Corsair Cove Dungeon is the least competitive and most consistent location for players who’ve completed The Corsair Curse. For players without that quest, Brimhaven Dungeon offers a solid population with manageable travel. Varrock Sewers work for absolute beginners with no travel options but are often crowded.

What Level Should I Be to Fight Moss Giants?

Moss Giants are appropriate for combat levels 40–70. Below 40, their max hit of 9 combined with volume makes trips short. Above 70, they become trivial but are still useful for low-effort Slayer tasks or Big Bones farming.

Do Moss Giants Drop Anything Valuable?

Big Bones (guaranteed, ~250 GP each) are the consistent value. Mossy Keys (1/150) open access to Bryophyta for a boss fight with better drops including the rare Rune Pouch. Moss Giants also drop herbs, seeds, and occasional rune items at low rates — nothing spectacular, but the GP/hour from bones adds up on longer tasks.

Can You Use a Cannon at Moss Giants?

Cannon works at Brimhaven Dungeon’s Moss Giant section and Corsair Cove Dungeon. Both areas have enough space for effective cannon placement. Using a cannon on a Slayer task here significantly speeds kill rate.

Is There a Moss Giant Boss in OSRS?

Yes — Bryophyta is the Giant’s Den boss version of a Moss Giant, summoned using a Mossy Key. She has 450 Hitpoints and drops Bryophyta’s Essence, seeds, and rarely the Rune Pouch. She’s accessible in the Giant’s Den beneath Varrock Sewers — same entrance, north-eastern section.

Moss Giants serve their purpose well in OSRS — easy access, guaranteed Big Bones income, and a Slayer assignment that doesn’t demand much attention or setup.
