The War Within PvP Changes

Many WoW players have already named The War Within “A Golden Age of PvP”, and there’s a reason for that. This expansion brings major reworks in this area, but the changes that we face are mostly positive. Yet, they may be a bit overwhelming, for instance, the Great Vault no longer grants a random item for completing WoW PvP game mode activities, but these activities themselves allow you to earn more resources to buy and upgrade gear.

What’s the best thing about all the changes? The reliance on random will no longer be an obstacle for your character, and the balance between PvP players will finally be more visible.

So, the key changes are:

• PvP Currency: Revamped currency system focusing on Honor and Conquest, with easier gear upgrades and more versatile gear stats.
• War Mode Rewards: Max Level Vault Gear pieces are no longer available for PvP activities, now the focus is on the crafted gear.
• Battleground Blitz: New fast-paced, rated battleground mode for smaller teams.
• PvP Season: Season 2 of PvP in WoW TWW starts in late winter, 2025.

The War Within Arena

Since the Burning Crusade expansion, WoW Arena continues to be a beloved PvP mode. In arenas, you participate in 2v2 or 3v3 encounters, and you need high skills to win. Solo Shuffle mode offers a larger team dynamic with six players.

Arena fights allow players to make progress by either increasing or decreasing their rating. The rating scale ranges from 0 up to 2400, and exceptional players in World of Warcraft have even achieved ratings as high as 3800. As you level up your Arena progress, you have the opportunity to attain various PvP ranks, which are applicable to all Arena modes, including 2v2, 3v3, and Solo Shuffle.

The War Within Solo Shuffle

WoW Solo Shuffle in The War Within PvP is similar to the regular Arena in many aspects. It uses the same rank system, and maps, and allows players to earn Honor or Conquest points for PvP gear.

However, there are some notable differences:

1. No need for a pre-formed team. Solo Shuffle is a single mode where you don’t need a team to participate. You won’t fight alone, though;
2. Group composition. Upon joining the queue, you become part of a group of 6 players, consisting of 2 healers and 4 damage dealers;
3. Shuffling teams. After each fight, the system shuffles the players to form new teams, creating a different composition;
4. Encounter duration. The encounter ends after 6 rounds.

Solo Shuffle WoW was introduced before The War Within, but the expansion has popularized the Rated mode for this PvP activity. Now, in addition to having fun, players can earn Conquest points, obtain achievements, and acquire rare titles.

Solo Shuffle enjoyers are usually try-harders and really skilled, so you need to dedicate a good amount of your free time to become the best in this area. Or, you can ask any of our pro players to take care of your Solo Shuffle Rating and get up to 2400 Rating and PvP currency.

The War Within Rated Battlegrounds

If you don’t like the small teams of players in PvP encounters and prefer the real war, you can always choose the battleground as your suitable PvP mode. Depending on the specific battleground, you can fight together with players in the 10-men team, or 15-men, or even bigger. WoW Battlegrounds were added to the game since Classic, so it’s a really essential thing for World of Warcraft.

It is interesting that after getting the seasonal reward, you can continue farming to get Vicious Electro Eel/Vicious Electro Eel Token, in Alliance or Horde colors. This token can be used to buy the mounts of past RBG seasons.

In The War Within, Blizzard promised to formalize WoW Battleground Blitz as a PvP mode. Thus, we now have special seasonal rewards, exclusive to the mode:

• Strategist: The War Within Season 2: Win 25 Rated Battleground Blitz matches while at Elite rank during The War Within Season 2.
  Reward: ‘Strategist’ Temporary Title.
• Prized Warlord: The War Within Season 2: End The War Within PvP Season 2 in the top 0.1% of the Rated Battleground Blitz ladder (requires 50 games won in The War Within Season 2).

And, in the end, let us say that battlegrounds are a good way to farm Honor level. This system doesn’t provide you with high-rated gear but can offer you various cosmetic rewards.

First, by leveling your abovementioned ranks, you will get achievements and titles, like it was in the Arena 2v2 and 3v3 modes. But the strongest players will have a chance to get the unique The War Within Season 2 reward:

The War Within PvP Gear

What is interesting, while you can upgrade these items to increase their PvE item level, your gear PvP item level doesn’t have ranks. The recipes for PvP gear can now be obtained at a heavy cost of Honor. But these items are not BoP, so you can still trade them and sell them in the Auction House. With the stronger emphasis on crafting, the obtaining of the recipe will now be your primary target.

In Season 2 of The War Within, there’s an exciting addition for PvP enthusiasts — a new item to transform any Epic Quality gear into a dedicated PvP item. These game-changing items, known as Required Reagents, can be acquired by spending Honor or Conquest. By utilizing these Required Reagents, you enhance the PvP item level of your gear. This new feature provides players with the flexibility to optimize their gear specifically for PvP combat:

• Prized Combatant’s Heraldry — 350 Honor: Increases Item Level to 652.
• Prized Aspirant’s Heraldry — 175 Honor: Increases Item Level to 665.
• Prized Gladiator’s Heraldry — 175 Conquest: Increases Item Level to 678.
• Vicious Bloodstone — 2,500 Honor: Used to augment PvP gear in variou ways.
• Prized Jeweler’s Setting — 5,000 Honor and 3 Vicious Bloodstones: Add 1 socket to a War Within PvP item. Can be used on Helms, Amulets, Bracers, Belts, and Rings. Jewelry can have up to 2 sockets.

What were previously optional reagents are now required reagents that function similarly to the spark. You can purchase these with Honor and Conquest just as before, and each recipe will require a quantity equivalent in cost to what the vendor offers for that slot. Essentially, if you have the currency, you can choose to craft PvP gear.
