The War Within Hunter Overview

Hunter is a ranged and melee class depending on spec. Average difficulty mechanics are pretty straightforward and won’t cause many problems for new players. You spend resources called Focus to use abilities, and you also benefit from the pet damage of your summoned pets.

It’s easy to play this class, but it is hard to master. Playing Hunter might be interesting for players who want to do various solo-content activities. For example, it is the only class whose abilities allow players to collect various rare pets. Don’t forget that they are the only ones who can carry the famous Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury as transmog!

The War Within Hunter Changes

The Hunter Class Tree Talents have seen a substantial rework, and the Class Talent Tree plus all Spec Trees were redesigned for The War Within. A lot of talents were buffed, now granting a huge boost to the survivability and damage, while some were removed, e.g. Steel Trap and Death Chakram. Survival Hunt received more changes, than any other spec. Lots of talents were redesigned, e.g. Tip of the Spear, Spearhead, Deadly Duo, etc. And a bunch of new talents were also added.

Also, as you probably know, Hero Talent Trees were added, so now you can add a bit of customization with 3 brand-new Hero specs. Other than customization, Hero talents shouldn’t have any massive gameplay impact (maybe only in niche scenarios), so don’t be afraid to experiment with builds.

The War Within Hunter Abilities

Hunters are DPS, and their basic aim in the PvE environments is to deal as much damage as possible. Thus, being a Hunter, you’ll operate with the following abilities:

• Arcane Shot is a basic attack, which inflicts Arcane damage and spends your Focus;
• Hunter’s Mark can often be found on the action bars of many players, as it marks the primary target, allowing them to deal more damage to it;
• Multi-Shot is a minor AoE, which allows one to hit all enemies within 8 yards;
• Playing with a pet, you’ll use Kill Command a lot to command your good boy (or girl) to end the target ;
• Aspect of the Turtle will be much needed in extensive combat scenarios to deflect the incoming damage.

Keep in mind, that each spec has its own talent builds, and the rest of the most powerful spells will differ.

The War Within Hunter Rotation

In The War Within, you’ll face a lot of new challenges and participate in many encounters. Therefore, you should be prepared to press a hundred buttons to reach the highest damage output. Depending on the spec, you’ll have more or less complicated rotations to remember, but the general task is to keep in mind the following basic rules:

• When you play with a pet, it serves as your partner and can do whatever you need. So use Kill Command as much as possible to allow the pet to do the dirty job;
• Never allow your Focus to reach the cap, use spenders like Arcane Shot and Kill Command on CD;
• Maintain 3 stacks of Frenzy by using Barbed Shot;
• When trying to deal with multiple targets at once, use Beast Cleave at 100% uptime, and ensure that your pet abilities are set to deal AoE damage.

The War Within Hunter Leveling

The most efficient way to level up your Hunter is doing that in a Beast Mastery spec. This spec includes easy-to-remember rotation, outstanding damage, and insane survivability due to the fact that your pets will take all the damage. Talking about pets… They deal the same damage, but they have different utility and special abilities. For Leveling, the best choice is a Ferocity pet. They can heal themselves upon inflicting damage.

Ferocity pets also can grant Primal Rage for your party, which is an analog to the Bloodlust effect.

The fastest way to level up is to run dungeons with a premade group. That will save you time drastically as you won’t be forced to travel around the world. Note that this way sometimes can be inefficient if you do it with pugs as they tend to have problems during their runs.

It is a great idea to combine dungeons with questing. In this case, you can choose between two expansions that work well. Zones of Warlords of Draenor and Legion expansions provide a lot of quests conveniently packed together to reduce your time for running around.
