WoW Raid Class Ranking

WoW Raid Class Tier List

In WoW The War Within Patch 11.2.7, the basis for the ranking of classes and specs considers the equal importance of damage, utility, and survivability. The damage is still vital in ending fights faster and making the lives of the Tanks easier. Utility can be essential to further smooth encounters and make them more manageable, as it is with Bloodlust. This season, however, has made survivability very important due to new Undermine bosses and trash that deal so much damage.

Our ranking system for WoW Raid Tier List follows a classical format for assessing the power and utility of each class and spec:

  • Tier S: Dominating the metagame specs that can easily overcome challenges and excel in every situation.
  • Tier A: Great specs with impressive damage, along with a fair combination of utility and self-sustain abilities.
  • Tier B: Simply good specs that may lack in damage, survivability, or utility, but can still work well when paired with other top-tier classes.
  • Tier C: Specs with multiple downsides, such as low survivability, limited utility, or low damage output.
  • Tier D: Specs that can be challenging to play effectively in raids and struggle to compete with the top specs in damage, even when played perfectly. These specs usually suffer from low tuning.
  • Tier F: Specs that require immediate attention and tuning from developers.

By the way, if you want to complete the Raid right now without the need to choose which character to play first, reach out to our team. Our pro players already know the strategy and can complete Heroic Manaforge Omega raid fast and easily.

Raid DPS Tier List

WoW Raid Class Tier List

We are going to start our WoW The War Within class tier list with the outline of the best classes and specs from DPS. This role carries the liability of dealing sustained damage and performing at their peak. A good DPS usually combines the following traits:

  • Survivability to stay alive in critical situations and not place all the responsibility for accidental damage or death on the healers;
  • Personal defensives to avoid critical situations and, in some cases, even perform boss mechanics more effectively without losing focus on dealing damage;
  • Mobility to dodge attacks and keep up with the boss.

Based on these criteria, we’ve compiled a tier list, featuring best Raid DPS in Patch 11.2.7 The War Within:

TierSpecs
SMarksmanship Hunter, Elemental Shaman, Arcane Mage, Frost Death Knight, Destruction Warlock
AFire Mage, Beast Mastery Hunter, Feral Druid, Fury Warrior, Unholy Death Knight, Affliction Warlock, Havoc Demon Hunter, Assassination Rogue, Survival Hunter, Subtlety Rogue, Augmentation Evoker
BRetribution Paladin, Demonology Warlock, Shadow Priest, Devastation Evoker, Windwalker Monk, Balance Druid
CArms Warrior, Frost Mage, Enhancement Shaman, Outlaw Rogue

📌 Note: Tier list updated for Season 3.

Keep an eye on this section, as we are going to update the lists of the WoW best raid classes with each and every change in the meta. However, you can get the Ahead of the Curve achievement even without this info. Just ask our team to assist you.

S-Tier

This is the top tier with the best DPS options. They are not only perfect damage dealers but also often bring a lot of utility and overall effectiveness, and improve your best raid comp in The War Within.

Marksmanship Hunter

Marksmanship Hunters are good in the 3-5 target cleave scenario and have a decent AoE burst, but their general damage is a bit on the low side. They provide average single-target damage compared to other classes and bring no meaningful raid utility.

Their survivability is just fine. While Beast Mastery can be a bit better than Survival during single-target encounters, Marksmanship Hunters truly excel in fights that call for versatility, especially if a bit of AoE burst damage is desirable.

Elemental Shaman

Elemental Shamans have very consistent single-target damage, along with great cleave and AoE potential. This makes them exceptionally good on encounters that have multiple, different damage profiles throughout the fight.

Relatively, compared with other classes like Mages or Warlocks, Elemental Shamans may lag behind in raid utility and durability. Despite this, they shine when in forced movement-intensive fights and are considered among the three best ranged specializations concerning forced movement.

Arcane Mage

The Arcane Mage is a class that specializes in single-target damage. They have good Burst Damage during their short burst periods. In addition, Mages have good defenses. Their immunities, such as Ice Block, are always welcome in raiding scenarios.

Frost Death Knight

Frost Death Knights are mainly famous for their outstanding AoE and cleave because of the great usage of Breath of Sindragosa. The overall damage output is competitive, but it is concentrated on cleave and AoE. While in pure single-target damage, Frost Death Knights are going to fall behind many classes. Anyway, they have quite good DPS results, so they will be welcome in the Patch 11.2.7 Raid.

Destruction Warlock

Destruction Warlocks boast average single-target damage but compensate for this with their 2-target cleave courtesy of Havoc often, and decent burst windows courtesy of Summon Infernal that might get them into a raid group.

Besides that fact, the Destruction Warlocks can also be quite resilient, and having at least one Warlock in a raid is absolutely necessary in case other classes need some utility provided by that class. Thus, for them, a raid with stronger allies should still be doable.

A-Tier

Specs in the A-Tier are overall the best to pick for your raid group with good DPS and utility. However, they are a bit behind the S-Tier due to slightly lower DPS abilities or lack of adaptable utility.

Fire Mage

Fire Mages are often viewed as the weakest spec of Mage for raiding simply because of how low their overall damage output is. While the Fire Mage might be okay in M+ and some AoE scenarios, they definitely aren’t the best when it comes to raid content. Single target, especially.

Because of this, Arcane and Frost’s specializations make for more attractive options when it comes to maximizing the mage buff. Everything considered, Fire Mages might just not be the cream of the crop when it comes to raiding, but with their current DPS, they can be a good enough choice.

Beast Mastery Hunter

Currently, the Beast Mastery Hunter is considered not the best, but not the worst spec for raiding. The most persuasive reason to bring a Beast Mastery Hunter into your group would be their unparalleled ability to handle movement. Currently, they are the only ranged DPS specs that can do their full rotation while on the move. That’s why they are decent for encounters that require high mobility.

Feral Druid

Feral Druids bring all of the standard utility provided by Druids, including the highly valuable Innervate ability. However, in a meta where melee classes are extremely strong, it’s often hard to justify bringing Feral Druids as raid composition is highly competitive. That does not mean Feral Druids are not competitive, however, and they retain decent single-target damage while having some of the best AoE and cleave in the game.

Were it not for the strong competitiveness of other melee specializations, Feral Druids could easily be considered high-tier, but for now, they are A-tier raiding. While Feral Druid can be buffed in the near future, go grab Dragonflight Druid Forms from our pro team and get ready to dominate The War Within.

Fury Warrior

Fury Warriors have some good cleave on low-target encounters, but do heavy execute damage with their Execute ability. While their single-target damage is somewhat lower than other melee classes, they still provide one of the strongest raid cooldowns in the game — Rallying Cry.

Unholy Death Knight

The Unholy Death Knight spec still retains three main strengths that make it one of the strongest melee specs. First, it has one of the best burst damage outputs in-game, which it is able to unleash every three minutes. Second, it does great target execution under 35% health due to its potent Soul Reaper ability. Lastly, Unholy Death Knights have nice high-target AoE capabilities. Anyway, in this season, Unholy Death Knights somehow show results a little bit worse than other specs and classes.

Affliction Warlock

They’re also very valued for every raid due to class utility, and it is usually considered a must to have at least one in any group. With some recent buffs, Affliction became one of the popular choices for several encounters.

You’re going to get a DoT-based playstyle that works even on movement and can even provide decent AoE conversion with the right talents. It has made all three specializations viable with their different strengths that can be used in conjunction with certain situations.

Havoc Demon Hunter

Demon Hunters are always considered the WoW best class for raids. The Havoc Demon Hunter spec, in particular, holds one of the most versatile damage toolkits in the game. It enables them to perform exceptionally well in any given situation. What’s more, it allows them to do this with just a single talent build. It’s an excellent spec for fights featuring blended fighting styles.

The Havoc Demon Hunter’s most powerful feature is their ability to execute powerful 2-5 target cleaves and burst AoE. Put simply, they are second to none in their burst AoE, which proves to be fabulously useful when trying to deal with add waves during several very problematic raid encounters. Finally, Havoc Demon Hunter remains an incredibly valuable raid cooldown in the form of Darkness.

Assassination Rogue

The reason that Assassination Rogues is an A-Tier class is mainly because of their really good damage output. They can do a decent amount of single-target damage and are also one of the best classes for executing targets. On top of that, Rogues possess some of the greatest defensive capabilities.

However, their biggest strength is in single-target damage, and they may struggle in multitarget scenarios. They dropped from among the very best in the previous season to a top spot this season, so they are especially viable in raiding.

Survival Hunter

Survival Hunters have fallen from their strong position at the end of the previous season to see a significant drop in performance. Now the spec has mediocre single target damage, poor AoE/Cleave, and is the weakest defensively of all the Hunter specifications due to its need to play in melee range.

Given the premium on melee space in raids, there are more attractive options, especially in a meta with a multitude of B-tier melee. Because of this, Survival Hunters may not be a great option for raiding at this time.

Subtlety Rogue

Subtlety Rogues bring single-target damage, strong AoE, and cleave capabilities. However, other specs are simply better in most of Raid situations, which often splits these specs into different tiers. When a mix of both is needed, Subtlety is one of the best choices that can hold up with the other top-tier classes.

Augmentation Evoker

Currently, Augmentation Evoker can be estimated as a C-Tier spec for Raids in The War Within. They have an exclusive role of damage amplification, which allows allies to deal higher damage and perform better.

Augmentation spec does not really supply raw personal DPS numbers like some of the other specs. However, in raid-wide burst phases, it is second to none, pretty much a nuclear bomb when combined with heavy-hitting classes. Choose this spec if you are all about helping the whole raid in encounters where maximizing the team’s output is critical.

B-Tier

B-Tier DPS classes show decent performance and can be rather viable in Raids, but still, they are not as versatile as A and S Tiers.

Retribution Paladin

With two powerful auras in their toolkit, Retribution Paladins can always be a welcome addition to any raid team. With new talent nodes like Sanctified Plates, the Ret Paladins specifically have improved quite a bit in survivability. However, given that tuning adjustments are ongoing, placement could very well change throughout the weeks ahead, so stay tuned.

Demonology Warlock

Demonology Warlocks always shine in cleave and burst AoE situations. Any raid serious about success will want at least one Warlock for the class utility provided. Demonology also happens to be among the toughest non-tank specs in the game, but they do not perform well enough to be placed higher than an A-Tier.

Shadow Priest

The Shadow Priest is currently the best spec over there for raiding due to their excellent single-target damage profile and Power Infusion.

Since Shadow Priests can use Power Infusion on a target other than themselves, they are greatly amplifying the potential damage being put out by the player they apply it to. The priests themselves also benefit from said increased damage. Shadow Priests are attractive damage dealers, especially in a situation where you need the potential damage increase.

Devastation Evoker

Devastation Evokers bring great burst AoE damage and decent single target damage, with much better movement handling compared to most other ranged DPS. Keep in mind that they are a very short-ranged DPS, only being able to attack from 25 yards, which can be a huge detriment in certain encounters, depending on how your raid is positioned.

Windwalker Monk

As a whole, Windwalker Monks are considered among the most suitable classes in raids due to their amazing burst AoE and strong single-target. We should also take into account the enormous amount of group buffs they provide. In addition, every raid needs at least one Monk, and Windwalkers are hands down the best choice for applying the Mystic Touch debuff.

What’s more, through the use of talents, Windwalker Monks can talent into two very strong buffs: Generous Pour and Close to Heart. These will become very important when doing very high-damage encounters where you’re stacked with the raid group.

Balance Druid

Balance Druid has a harmonic, diverse toolkit that really makes them stand out in-game. Their Starfall creates a unique capability to cleave and spread damage consistently to groups of enemies in a way no class can match.

While this may not be necessary during most fights, it makes them invaluable during those encounters that require such a specific capability. Balance Druid stands out as one of the most valuable classes for damage in multi-target fights, but the damage is really low now.

C-Tier

In the C-Tier, fall the specs that are not the best choice for raiding or which significantly underperform. You can still pick them to queue for a raid, but it may take longer to find a group, and you’ll need to rely either on your skill or on the S-Tier mates to complete the raid.

Arms Warrior

Arms Warriors are often considered extremely powerful in 2-target cleave due to the Sweeping Strikes ability. They also excel at executing targets with their Execute ability. While they may lack in the damage to a singular target compared with other melee classes, they bring Rallying Cry. In the current season, their DPS is very low, unfortunatelly, which brings them to C-Tier.

Frost Mage

In the current season, Frost Mage features good sustained single-target damage. But usually, they are placed among the best classes in funnel damage and 2-3 target stacked cleave scenarios. Frost Mages may be preferable on more AoE-oriented encounters. More generally, Frost Mages are very strong defensively. Their immunities will always be worth a lot when it comes to raid survivability.

Enhancement Shaman

Enhancement Shaman is very good at dealing single-target and cleave damage on his own. Once the damage that is gained from Windfury Totem is factored in, they become one of the best DPS classes. The totem still plays a great role for most melee classes, with some specializations relying entirely on it for huge spikes in damage.

Outlaw Rogue

The Outlaw Rogue is known for his extremely good cleave and AoE damage courtesy of Blade Flurry‘s power. They have very good damage even on single-target and a great and solid defensive toolkit for all Rogue specs. They can apply the needed Atrophic Poison debuff. Outlaw scales dramatically once more targets are introduced. They are therefore a great choice for situations where exceptional cleave and AoE are needed.

Raid Healer Tier List

WoW Raid Class Tier List

In WoW Raid Healers play a highly appreciated role of supportive allies, who can use defensive or healing spells on their raidmates. Even if your raid composition includes only tough Tanks and DPSers with high survivability, a Healer is still essential for some boss mechanics.

TierSpecs
SPreservation Evoker
ARestoration Shaman, Holy Paladin, Restoration Druid, Holy Priest, Mistweaver Monk
BDiscipline Priest

📌 Note: Tier list updated for Season 3.

If you don’t have a suitable healer class yet, it’s not a problem. We can help you level up your healer character via Power Leveling, and you’ll be able to go straight to the raid. Do not forget to buy consumables!

S-Tier

Just like S-Tier DPS, Healers in this spec show excellent results in HPS and bring lots of utility to raid groups.

Preservation Evoker

Preservation Evoker has high burst healing and the best defensive cooldowns in the game. Their offensive kit is really solid, featuring above-average damage both in single-target and AoE situations, while keeping up with competitive HPS and high mobility.

While their 30-yard range is a headache in some of the boss fights, the utility they offer makes them extremely valuable to any raid composition. Their toolkit is good for any combat.

A-Tier

A-Tier Healers are a good pick for any raid. They offer good healing and usually bring extra DPS, interrupts, or debuff capabilities.

Restoration Shaman

Recent balance changes added an interesting twist to the storyline of Restoration Shaman. The truth is that Resto Shaman’s performance heavily depends on raid composition and encounter mechanics. However, they turn out great in stacked healing and have such influential cooldowns as Spirit Link Totem, but unfortunately struggle in fights where players spread out. Watch for future changes because the meta can often change rapidly in raids.

Holy Paladin

Holy Paladins have good burst healing during their cooldowns and hence tend to be one of the most suited choices when it comes to the heating moments of raids. They are also capable of providing a significant amount of damage reduction courtesy of Devotion Aura and Aura Mastery, thereby making them fairly worthwhile to reduce the incoming damage with.

Holy Paladins also bring some quite unique utility to the raid in the form of Blessing of Protection and Divine Shield. While sustained healing output might be a bit off compared to some other healers, strong burst healing and utility provide a welcome addition to any raid team. Despite their strengths, in the current season Holy Paladins can not compete with other healer specs in terms of HPS, which brings them to the lowest tier.

Restoration Druid

Restoration Druid is a popular choice for a healing role, providing great overall healing output and a versatile toolkit. They have one of the most powerful healing throughput cooldowns in the game and thus fit perfectly within any healing composition.

Their damage output is not as strong compared to other healing specifications; however, they can provide supplemental DPS at specific parts of the fight. This makes a lack of damage reduction cooldown and smooth damage contribution some of the biggest downsides associated with this spec. However, throughputs are truly exceptional, and utility spells are good enough to balance this class.

Holy Priest

Holy Priests have nice healing throughput. They really can compete purely in output with healers, which ultimately puts them into the S-tier category.

However, they are also very good at dealing damage and have a very valuable Power Infusion ability. For that reason, they are a very good choice when doing progression and DPS is tight, but buffs or throughput can be sacrificed. Holy Priests still bring solid healing and utility, but their strength lies in damage contribution.

Mistweaver Monk

Mistweaver Monks have reliable HPS output. They do very good damage for a healer and have great mobility and decently high durability. The lack of a damage reduction cooldown used to be a major weakness, but at this point, the throughput is so overwhelming that it does not matter anymore. It does make it very important to pay special attention to the unique buffs and debuffs brought by the Mistweaver Monk, who will become incredibly important to have at least one in every raid.

Though raiding on S or A-Tier specs is fun, it still takes too long to get Manaforge Omega Very Rare Items, especially for a healer. Therefore, our pro team offers you our helping hand. Regardless of your spec and role, we can get the coveted items for you.

B-Tier

Healers in B-Tier show average results, and though they are not the best, you can still enjoy raiding with them.

Discipline Priest

Discipline Priests are a very unique playstyle that tends to balance dealing damage against healing and offer exceptional utility to their raid. They can negate the need for damage altogether with such spells as Atonement and Power Word: Radiance while offering high throughput healing if needed. This makes them extremely flexible and versatile healers who can fit into many types of encounter mechanics and situations. Furthermore, Discipline Priests can move much more easily around the encounter area to reach their targets.

C-Tier

Healers who end up in C-Tier usually do not have any specific talents, nor do they perform well. Therefore, they still can be picked in raids, but do not expect anything outstanding from the C-Tier classes and specs.

No specs are currently considered C-Tier.

Raid Tank Tier List

WoW Raid Class Tier List

Tanks are the pillars of the Raid. You usually need 1-2 experienced Tanks for a successful Raid completion. A good Tank is hard to kill, easy to heal, and impossible to forget. The best WoW Raid Tank should also be able to maintain the threat and avoid losing it, which often results in numerous wipes.

TierSpecs
SBrewmaster Monk, Protection Paladin, Protection Warrior
ABlood Death Knight, Vengeance Demon Hunter, Guardian Druid

📌 Note: Tier list updated for Season 3.

The further you get in your raiding progress, the harder it becomes to tank. Manaforge Omega Mythic raid can be a real challenge, or a pain in the back, even for the most experienced players. Thus, you can ask our team to complete it for you. You’ll skip long hours of queuing, wiping, kicking pugs, and struggling to succeed.

S-Tier

Tanks that are lucky enough to be placed into S-Tier are perfect for taking damage, generating enough threat, and sharing their utility with the group.

Brewmaster Monk

Brewmaster Monks have shown good results in the current season. The buffs they bring through the Mystic Touch debuff can make them a real asset to the raid. Brewmasters also have very strong mobility, which in certain encounters can be of great help. Their tankiness is still a question mark, but recent buffs to their survivability seem to be helpful. Overall, Brewmasters are a solid choice in the A-Tier.

Protection Paladin

Protection Paladins have a nice mix of offense and defense. They have an awesome toolkit of abilities to fit every encounter. For instance, Blessing of Spellwarding to Final Stand. They also have an immense array of defensive cooldowns that will basically let them handle most incoming damage patterns.

Protection Warrior

Protection Warriors are kings of mitigation. They have the most powerful non-healer raid cooldown, Rallying Cry, and their provided buff is really valuable. The Protection Warrior excels at nearly every other single instance aside from magic damage. Their Defensive Stance allows them to survive damage that would kill any other tank. Besides, Protection Warrior’s damage output is no chump change, hence making them hard to deal with on all fronts.

A-Tier

In this tier, we have the overall best Tanks, which may not be as versatile as the S-Tier ones, but they are excellent at generating and keeping threat and dealing with the toughest bosses.

Blood Death Knight

The Blood Death Knights are the go-to tank for handling magical damage. While they are among the strongest classes overall in terms of their defensive power, by far the largest weakness in their current state is the relatively low damage among all tank classes.

In addition, Blood DKs lack any coveted buff to a raid, which only nominally depletes them in value as a tank. However, due to the incredibly high levels of survivability, they’re the best fit for any type of tanking needed.

Vengeance Demon Hunter

Vengeance Demon Hunters are a versatile tank choice with very strong self-healing and durability that can fit into any situation. They provide a strong damage output and a good defensive toolkit.

Their primary utility comes in the form of Chaos Brand, which is a tremendous debuff to have in the raid. But if there is already a Havoc Demon Hunter in the group, then you need other options. Even though some tanks focus on either pure offense or pure defense, Vengeance DHs are just a great choice that can do well in any situation.

Guardian Druid

Guardian Druids go into B-Tier just because they lack special strengths that make them the best pick by any min-maxing raid team. But they can do enough damage and survive. Additionally, Guardian Druids bring Mark of the Wild, which is a nice addition to your group.

B-Tier

Tanks in B-Tier are above average. To play specs placed into this tier you need to have good tanking skills and trust the performance of your second tank.

No specs are currently considered B-Tier.

C-Tier

C-Tier is the place where all the average and below-average tanks go. It doesn’t mean that these specs are dead and unplayable, but it takes a lot of skills and patience to complete the raid with such a tank.

No specs are currently considered C-Tier.
