Introduction
The test on PTR continuous and the community get more and more interesting and important information concerning the upcoming 8.2 Patch. This time the new currency will be in the center of our attention.
The Prismatic Manapearl appears to be a new Battle for Azeroth currency that is in circulation in Nazjatar – the new zone that will be added in the Rise of Azshara. Several ways of obtaining this currency are expected, such as rewards for the completion of the World Quests, finding treasures, and daily bounties. Players will need the Prismatic Manapearl to buy different Items like new gear, Mounts and Battle Pets. We shall overview all the rewards one may get and will start with the new Benthic Gear.
Benthic Gear System
Benthic – the ecological region at the lowest level of a body of water such as an ocean, lake, or stream, including the sediment surface and some sub-surface layers.
The very word Benthic means the ecological region at the lowest level of a body of water such as an ocean, lake, or stream, including the sediment surface and some sub-surface layers. So, literary, everything is created to show Players that they are actually at the bottom of the sea. The Benthic gear system provides 385 Item Level pieces of armor that can be upgraded to 430 Item Level. Each Benthic piece of gear has a unique combat or exploration effect as well.
The developers had mentioned drawing inspiration from previous endgame zones such as the Isle of Thunder and Timeless Isle (both in Pandaria), Tanaan Jungle (Draenor), and Argus (Legion) while constructing Nazjatar. A common trait of all these zones is a special gear system, intended to catch up returning Players and to make it easier and faster for active Players to level their secondary Characters.
So as it was said above, one can purchase the tokens for the Benthic gear with Prismatic Manapearl currency. The corresponding NPC vendors are located in Nazjatar – Finder Palta for the Horde related Players and Artisan Itanu for the Alliance. These tokens cover the eight major armor slots plus cloaks. Trinkets, rings, and weapons are not covered by Benthic gear, but these slots have interesting systems in Mechagon, the other zone in Patch 8.2. If you want to learn more about the Mechagon zone, about its treasures, quests, encounters, and rewards – read our massive preview concerning this subject.
Armor tokens are:
- Benthic Girdle;
- Benthic Bracers;
- Benthic Helm;
- Benthic Chestguard;
- Benthic Cloak;
- Benthic Leggings;
- Benthic Treads;
- Benthic Spaulders;
- Benthic Gauntlets.
Each token costs 5 Prismatic Manapearl. And of course, there always is an opportunity to increase the Item Level of a specific piece of armor until it will be equivalent to heroic loot from the Azshara’s Eternal Palace Raid, which is 430 Item Levels right now. The following Items will be allowed to purchase by Players:
- Azsharan Pearling Kit is sold for 20 Prismatic Manapearl. It empowers a Benthic item to Item Level 400. This new version of the concrete Item is called Pearled.
- Azsharan Pearling Enhancement is sold for 10 Prismatic Manapearl. It increases the Item Level of the already Pearled piece of gear by 5 points each time, up to Item Level 430.
- Azsharan Azerite Pearling Enhancement is sold for 30 Prismatic Manapearl and increases the Item Level of a Pearled Azerite item (Helm, Shoulders, or Chest) by 15 points, up to Item Level 430.
All of these upgrade Items are Bind on Account.
Mounts
The next very interesting small group of goods is the main faction related Mounts. There will be only two of them which make it somewhat special to transport collectors around the world.
The Horde representatives may have the Unshackled Waveray and it will cost them 250 Prismatic Manapearl and Exalted reputation status with a new Horde related faction the Unshackled. The NPC’s name is Finder Pruc.

Those, loyal to the Alliance will be able to get the recolor version, the Ankoan Waveray. This flying Mount will cost Players the same 250 Prismatic Manapearl and Exalted reputation status with a new Alliance related faction the Ankoan. The vendor’s name will be Artisan Okata.

Pets
Finder Pruc (Horde) and Artisan Okata (Alliance) both sell a cute Aquatic Battle Pet Pearlescent Glimmershell for 40 Prismatic Manapearl. Do not miss it!

Essences
Basics
Essences are new special active abilities for the Heart of Azeroth Artifact. The Essences’ system itself looks a lot like a Glyph system. There will be one Major and two Minor slots available on the whole and each Essence may be put in either of them, causing different changes in the class mechanics. A Major slot provides a powerful active ability, while Minor adds the passive effect. To unlock new Essence slots Players will have to upgrade their Artifacts. New abilities will become active at Artifact levels 55, 60, and 65. Essences will have up to four different quality ranks just like gear Items and there will be quite a variety of ways to obtain them, such as Quests, Dungeons, Raids, PvP, and other outdoor activities. Quite unexpected thing, but higher ranked Essence might not necessarily have a straight damage boost. They may provide more stats, additional charges or utility elements. For those Players who are into top PvP rankings or prefer Mythic+ raiding, there is the highest level of the Essences – the Legendary one. Once a Hero obtains a top-level Essence he will gain a substantial cosmetic appearance change, so everyone around instantly recognizes it once he fires off the upgraded ability. As long, as there are not any usable changes between the Legendary and Epic quality Items, we will not mention them in here, but just remember that you will surely stand out of the crowd!
And now we will take a closer look at the three Essences we now know about.
