A huge number of changes for different game aspects release together with the new Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara; today we will speak about such changes in the new Mount system and learn more about the new Mounts available. There are approximately thirty new Mounts waiting for collectors – that’s quite a lot of work to do! Please note that all the following information is not certain and may be changed. Let us, anyway, start with the subject under the biggest discussion – with Mount Equipment.
Mount Equipment
This is the biggest Mount related systemic change that the developers have made in years. Players expected new customization options for their favorite four-legged friends when they heard about a new Mount Equipment feature for the first time; however, we are given an opportunity to improve their abilities, so to say. There will be a new slot frame at the bottom of the Mounts journal list into which a Player will be able to insert one specific Item of a certain category. There isn’t much information about how many of these Items there will be or where to get them, but the following is confirmed.
There are at least four of such bonuses that are known so far:
Saddlechute: May be equipped in the Mount Equipment slot to install an emergency parachute that will deploy when dismounted high in the air.
Inflatable Mount Shoes: Is equipped in the Mount Equipment slot and allows the Player to walk across water while mounted. Any damage will cancel the effect.
Comfortable Rider’s Barding: Is equipped in the Mount Equipment slot to prevent a Character from being dazed while mounted.
Light-Step Hoofplates: This Item is equipped in the Mount Equipment slot to increase the Character’s Mount ground speed by 20%. Regrettably, this bonus does not stack with other Mount speed effects.
Please take into consideration the fact that none of these options will work on Battlegrounds and Arenas. Also, there will be only one bonus effect available at a time for all the Player’s Mounts, so choose wisely.
These ability Items will be made by certain crafting professions and may be replaced at any time. Unfortunately, the previous Item will be destroyed in the process like gems in the Jewelcrafting profession, which makes these slot Items rather valuable goods on the Auction Houses across the world. Blizzard assumes the prices to be approximately 1000 Gold. The figures may differ greatly, of course, depending on the segments and realms.
The bonus system will become accessible for those Characters who have reached level 100; and after that, all Characters on the account above level 20 will be able to use it as well.
Those Mounts which have additional effects will not benefit from equipment slots, except for the vendor Mounts nonetheless. Like the Sky Golem, for instance, will still be able to harvest weed, as long as it is its main feature, but there won’t be any additional effects available for it, no matter which one exactly. Some classes like Death Knights, which have similar abilities anyway, will have an advantage, for they will be able to use their own ability and the Mount Equipment ability together at the same time on the same Mount.
Water Striders Mounts Nerf
Yes, it is true. The only two Mounts that could walk across the water surface will be relieved of their duties from now on; as well as any other Mount that had any of the aforesaid effects. But there still will be an advantage for those who have already obtained them by the beginning of the Patch 8.2. In case the Player had raised the exalted reputation status with The Anglers from Mists of Pandaria Expansion and had bought a Mount, they will get one Anglers’ Water Striders Item via post for free immediately after logging in for the first time in Patch 8.2! What’s more, the corresponding vendor NPC will gladly sell a number of those Items at a cost of 50 Gold coins each, but again, only for the owners of Water Striders. And here is the answer for the frequently asked question about having such a Mount while leveling. Yes, it will be still possible, as this concrete Item is bound to account. For those Players who haven’t obtained a Water Strider, it will be possible to obtain a different Water Walking Mount Equipment from Professions; some interviews have said Blacksmithing will be the profession.
New Mounts
And now let’s move on to the most interesting point of the program – to the new Mounts. Since there are really quite a number of them, including a Bee Mount that was shown on a Blizzcon 2018, the following information will be divided into several large topics for easier navigation. Let’s begin with Achievements’ rewards.
Achievement Mounts

Just do not ask what has happened to the first model. This Mechanical Parrot will be given as a reward for completing the Achievement Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two. The requirements for this Achievement are similar to the ones, we had in Legion. The matching mechanical pet, Feathers, is available from a special 8.1.5 Questline for those who are interested. Players will be given an opportunity to fly across all the Battle for Azeroth zones, including the new ones Nazjatar and Mechagon. The estimated time to get this Mount is about three weeks after the Patch launches. This is a flying Mount.

The Mechacycle Model W may be obtained after getting a meta-achievement Mecha-Done. This Mount looks extremely unique and has the unique Mount Special: the wheel spins around and the Character does some sort of a backflip, striking sparks and fire.

The Yellow Fathom Ray considers being a reward for a [Glory of the Eternal Raider] Achievement. This is a flying Mount.
Profession Mounts

This vehicle with a hard-to-pronounce name will become a crafting Mount for the Blacksmithing and Engineering professions together, and will be made by combining two modules:
A Super-Charged Engine is made by Engineers and of the following reagents:
Monelite Ore – ×100;
Storm Silver Ore – ×50;
Insulated Wiring – ×25;
Chemical Blasting Cap – ×12;
Expulsom – ×8.
A Monelite Reinforced Chassis is being crafted by Blacksmiths and from the following:
Monelite Ore – ×75;
Storm Silver Ore – ×65;
Platinum Ore – ×30;
Elemental Flux – ×20.
The description says: It was said that this invention was modeled after the likeness of a very wealthy goblin. Although others don’t really see the resemblance. Has anyone noticed that the title Xiwyllag is Gallywix spelled backward?
Quest Mounts

There isn’t much information about the Snapdragon Kelpstalker yet, but it is confirmed, that this Mount will be a reward for the completion of the [A Gift from Neri] Quest. This Mount will probably be related to one of two main in-game factions.

The Child of Torcali Mount seems to be a small bonus for the Horde Players. They will be able to get this one after completing the Quest [Wander Not Alone] somewhere in Zuldazar zone. There isn’t any concrete information about this Quest yet though.

There isn’t much information about the Deepcoral Snapdragon as well, but it is already confirmed, that this Mount will be a reward for the completion of the [A Gift from Akana] Quest. This Mount will probably be related to one of two main in-game factions.
Mechagon Zone Mounts

This is a very interesting Mount. Probably the most interesting one. First of all, Players will have to craft it in Mechagon zone. The vendor that sells the technology is called Pascal-K1N6. The following parts are needed:
Spare Parts – ×2000. This seems to be a new currency that is dropped by mobs;
Energy Cell – ×5. Looks like one should recharge Empty Energy Cells to get this Item;
Chain Ignitercoil – ×4
What’s more, Players will be given an opportunity to recolor this Mount in a special store nearby. There are seven colors available and the eighth one will be a reward:
Paint Vial: Battletorn Blue – a reward.
Collecting all of the customizations gives Players the Available in Eight Colors Achievement that is a part of an even bigger Achievement Mecha-Done in its turn. One can make an assumption that with this mechanical cat developers are testing a new customization system for Mounts.
The Scrapforged Mechaspider is the Mount that will be a reward for completing the Quest [Drive It Away Today] in Mechagon zone and according to the description we may state that this might be a crafting vehicle. This one like any other Steam-punk looking Mount in Patch 8.2 has a lot of animated details, which make it look really great and unique. The designers have surpassed themselves – good job!
The Rusty Mechanocrawler is the recolor model of the previous one. According to the recent PTR information this Mount drops from the Arachnoid Harvester – the Rare Elite giant robot spider that wanders somewhere in the Mechagon zone.

This is a rustier variant of a Mechacycle Model W. Drops from the Rustfeather Rare Elite mob in Mechadon zone.
Nazjatar Zone Mounts

The Silent Glider Mount is a black variant of a Yellow Fathom Ray and drops from Soundless Rare Elite mob in Nazjatar zone. This is a flying Mount.

The Snapback Scuttler is an extremely unique and interesting Mount! It must be the Nazjatar zone drop – no concrete information is released yet. But it is certainly worth all the efforts. Not only is it walks sideways, but its Mount special is just terrific – it digs itself into the ground completely, leaving only a Player, sitting on a chest above, and then it pops out, shaking claws!

The Royal Snapdragon Mount is expected to be the Nazjatar zone drop, so pay attention to everything that moves.
Operation: Mechagon Dungeon Mounts

The Aerial Unit R-21/X is a drop from the King Mechagon – the last of eight bosses in the new Operation: Mechagon Dungeon. It appears this one will have an interesting Mount Special – a cannon that pops out from underneath.

The Mechagon Peacekeeper is the recolor model of the Scrapforged Mechaspider. It drops from the [HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit] – one of eight bosses in the new Operation: Mechagon Dungeon.
Horde Faction Mounts

The Voldunai Dunescraper is a new Mount for the Voldunai faction. Horde representatives may buy this one from the Hoarder Jena vendor NPC in Vol’dun for 50000 of Gold after they reach the exalted reputation status with these guys. This is a flying Mount.

The Captured Swampstalker is a new Mount for the Talanji’s Expedition faction in the Patch 8.2. Players may get this one from the Provisioner Lija Emissary NPC in Nazmir for the same 50000 of Gold, but only after they reach the exalted reputation status with this faction. This is a flying Mount.

The Spectral Pterrowing appears to be a new Mount for the Zandalari Empire faction in the Patch 8.2. Players may get this one from the Natal’hakata Emissary in the city of Dazar’alor zone for 50000 of Gold, but again only after they reach the exalted reputation status with this faction. This is a spectral, cool looking and nicely done flying Mount.
Alliance Faction Mounts

The Dusky Waycrest Gryphon is a new Mount for the Order of Embers faction. Alliance representatives may buy this one from the Quartermaster Alcorn in Drustvar for 50000 of Gold after they reach the exalted reputation status with this faction. This is a flying Mount.

The Reins of Proudmoore Sea Scout is a new Mount for the Proudmoore Admiralty faction. Players may get this particular one by paying 50000 of Gold to the Provisioner Fray NPC that is located in Boralus but only after they reach the exalted reputation status with this faction. This is a flying Mount.

The Stormsong Coastwatcher appears to be a new Mount for the Storm’s Wake faction in the Patch 8.2. Alliance related Players may get this one from the Sister Lilyana Emissary in the Stormsong Valley zone for 50000 of Gold, but again only after they reach the exalted reputation status with this faction. This is a flying Mount.
New Factions Mounts

The Rustbolt Resistor is a new Rustbolt Resistance faction Mount in Mechagon zone. One should have an exalted reputation status with this faction, visit Stolen Royal Vendorbot vendor, and pay 524288 of Gold to get it. This is a flying Mount.

Players may get the Ankoan Waveray after raising the exalted reputation status with a new faction, loyal to the Alliance, known as Ankoan. This is a flying Mount.

The Unshackled Waveray is a Horde variant of a previous Mount. Players may get it after raising the exalted reputation status with a new Unshackled faction. This is a flying Mount as well.
New PvP Season Mounts
A third PvP Season is expected to come live in this 8.2 Patch but a little bit later – probably in the middle of July and it will bring new PvP Mounts. Unfortunately, there isn’t any concrete information about it, but the following is confirmed. New Mounts will be two Basilisks – the Horde and the Alliance color variants as usual, and a PvP Drake.
Placeholder/No source Yet Mounts

The Crimson Tidestallion is one of several seahorse Mounts which were announced at Blizzcon 2018 for the upcoming Patch 8.2; unfortunately, there isn’t any information about the ways of getting it yet. According to some sources, this one will have an armored version.

The Inkscale Deepseeker is another one of several seahorse Mounts that were announced at Blizzcon 2018 for the upcoming Patch 8.2; again there is not any information about the ways of getting it yet. According to some sources, this one will also have an armored version.

The Fabious is exactly that one seahorse Mount that was announced at Blizzcon 2018 for the upcoming Patch 8.2, and again there is not any information available for the ways of obtaining it, but according to some sources, this one will have an armored version as well.
The Bee Mount
And finally, the Bee Mount, that was also scheduled for the 8.2 Patch. According to the current information, this one should refer to a reputation grind. It seems like there will be turn-in items which will grant 60 reputation points each time. Perhaps Players will find drops around the world to turn in to a Bee, earning the reputation as they turn more in, or there will be a mini-game that rewards the reputation items sporadically, or even the Alliance version of Kua’fon’s Harness, who knows. Apparently, there will be three different color variations available for this completely unique vehicle. This will be a flying Mount.
Conclusion
As long as the PTR has just been launched, all the above-said information may still be a matter of changes, but do not worry – Overgear will keep you informed, so stay tuned for more!
Fill up your mount collection with Overgear. 5ppl, raids, open-world, achievements, TCG – whatever! It is possible to get them from everywhere.
