Everything You Need to Know About Leveling in the War Within

The War Within Leveling Guide

It’s common for players to switch their main character with each new season or expansion, or level up their favorite main to the expansion’s level cap, and The War Within is no exception. As such, it’s important to start by focusing on the existing content that is already available.

The latest bluepost from Blizzard revealed, that with The War Within Launch, leveling becomes tougher:

The hotfixes will adjust the scaling of enemies in War Within leveling content to increase the power of lower-level enemies, bringing the duration of combat more in line with expected WoW behavior. These changes will be most noticeable at level 70, and will have a reduced impact as your level increases. Enemies at level 80 and above will be unchanged. — Blizzard.

The guide consists of several comprehensive sections to answer all of your questions. Here we discuss:

  • Important things that you need to know before you start leveling. In this section, you’ll find some general tips to ease your leveling experience and know what to focus on.
  • Tips on leveling preparations. This part is especially useful for newbies, who do not know where to start.
  • Explanation on level 1-70 leveling. Before you’ll be able to jump into TWW content, you need to go a long way through 70 levels. Learn how to do this without any surprises.

  • The detailed overview of all The War Within Leveling aspects. New zones, main and alt characters and even more — you’ll find proven information from WoW’s most experienced players.

Best Class for Leveling in The War Within

If you want to level up a new character, several simple questions usually come up: “What is the fastest class to level in WoW? What is the best class for leveling in WoW?” In World of Warcraft, leveling is just a small part of the game, and it’s over once a player reaches the level cap. Therefore, it’s not necessary to choose your character based solely on their leveling difficulty, even if you are a beginner.

There are many factors to consider, such as the class’s playstyle, strengths, and weaknesses. We offer you to have a look at our Best Class For You Guide to decide which class to play in TWW.

Keep in mind, that the main objective of playing World of Warcraft is to have fun. So, don’t feel pressured to choose a certain class just because it’s considered more powerful or easier to level. Play the class that you enjoy the most: whether it’s just the visual pleasure reliance on strong abilities or maybe complicated rotations, you do you. You’ll have a much more enjoyable experience playing the character that you truly like.

Important Things to Know

The War Within Leveling Guide
Nathden Heirloom Vendor Location — 52.8 42.2.

If you are a first-time player, or you just don’t have enough knowledge about leveling routine, you should learn these 5 basic rules (or tips) for the fastest leveling:

  1. Use Heirloom Gear, if you have any. Heirloom Gear is available for all your characters and you can use it for free. This gear has a higher lvl than your starter items, so equipping it will allow accelerated leveling. If you don’t have any Heirloom Items, you can obtain them from the Vendor, Some events also offer Heirloom Gear as a reward, so keep an eye on what’s going on in the game. In The War Within you can obtain the needed gear from Nathden, Heirloom Vendor. He’s located in Dornogal, the Capital City of Isle of Dorn. Nathden Heirloom Vendor Location — 52.8 42.2.
  2. There is no need to rush to the max level of 80. Take your time to enjoy the plot of the expansion;
  3. Set your Hearthstone to the zone you are leveling in. If you are on your way to level 70 and your leveling journey goes in another expansion, you can use Hearthstone toys, like Dalaran Hearthstone for Legion.
  4. Don’t skip Rare events and Elites. The amount of rewarded XP often equals a completed quest. If you are too low-level to deal with the enemy, try to list a group or wait for a stronger player to pass by. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
  5. Don’t hesitate to swap to Warmode. While you may face some difficulties and come across not-so-friendly players from the opposite factions, the XP bonus is worth it.

Leveling Preparations

The step of preparation is quite important for the optimal leveling approach, especially if you are about to level up your first character. It’s also useful if you just want to facilitate the leveling process. To begin your leveling adventure have a look at a short list of things you need to know for convenient leveling in WoW:

  1. Decide what character you are going to play beforehand. In this case, you won’t lose your time jumping from one character to another and will keep pace with the players of your server. This step is crucial for both newbies and those, who are about to level up their 10th char. It helps to plan and stick to this plan.
  2. Get equipment for your mounts like Comfortable Rider’s Barding or Light-Step Hoofplates. While it may seem unnecessary, this step helps to secure smooth and fast riding.
  3. Buy some consumables: Flasks, Food, Health, and Mana Pots. Goblin Glider Kits, Fried Bonefish, and Gunshoes might help as well. If your Warband is already packed up, use the Warband Bank and share some resources with your new alts. But watch the level needed to use this or that Food or Flask.
  4. Adjust your character’s build. While this step is not obligatory, pay attention to talents that maximize your survivability and AOE potential;
  5. Always clean your bags. Make sure you have permanent access to a vendor in order to sell all the items you get during the leveling. Keep in mind that some can be sold at a higher price at Auction House.

General 1-70 Leveling

You’ve just created a brand-new level 1 (or level 10, in some cases) character. What’s next? You need to figure out how to gain millions of Experience Points to reach level 70 before entering The War Within. There are myriad of leveling options, but the majority of the players prefer two main ways: Dungeon Finder Leveling and Questing. In our detailed guide, you can learn about both methods and choose what suits you best.

But remember, that you always have options. If you don’t like leveling, or if you don’t have enough time to level your characters due to your daily offline activities, our team can help you with our Power Leveling service — the best way to level up in WoW.

Dungeon Leveling

One of the fastest and most efficient ways to level up your character is through the combination of dungeon runs in a group of five players. The idea behind this dungeon delving strategy is pretty straightforward: continuously queue up and clear random dungeons until you reach level 70.

Some dungeons from previous expansions may have more role-playing elements and cutscenes, which can slow down the leveling process. To avoid this, it’s best to focus on The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King dungeons, as they offer a more corridor-like path with a few quests at the entrance. Never miss the dungeon quests, as some of them can actually double the XP you gain from one run.

It’s worth noting that while Dungeon Leveling may be the fastest way to level up, it’s not necessarily the most enjoyable for everyone. Some players may prefer to explore the world, complete quests, or engage in PvP activities. Ultimately, the method you choose to level up your character is a matter of personal preference.

Questing

Completing WoW Quests can be an enjoyable and efficient leveling experience, especially if you like reading. You can not only farm XP but also participate in key lore events.

If you choose to level up through quests, Cataclysm and Legion zones are excellent choices due to their high concentration of quests and minimal travel time. Additionally, the Spires of Arak zone in Warlords of Draenor offers a 20% experience bonus if you build a garrison there, that’s why it’s an attractive option for leveling for lots of players nowadays.

Chromie in The War Within

Everybody knows Chromie — the Timekeeper, bronze dragon (yes, she’s a dragon) and our best friend when it comes to leveling. This NPC can be found in the capital cities of Horde and Alliance. In Stormwind, Chromie location coordinates are 56.2 17.6, and in Orgrimmar — 40.8 80.0.

The War Within Leveling Guide

Sometimes new players do not understand how to level up in some older expansions. They start teleporting back and forth from their capital city to other locations, picking up random quests, getting upset with the 5 XP reward, and dropping this idea. That’s all because they didn’t change the timeline (or phase), and the locations, mobs, and quests didn’t scale.

This is when Chromie joins in:

  • Firstly, you need to talk to her and ask her to transfer you to a different timeline;
  • Then, you need to choose the desired timeline.

If you are acquainted with the concept of WoW game phases, then you’ll understand, that you are placed into another phase. Here your level, experience gain, HP, and other characteristics are adjusted to the current (chosen) expansion.

Chromie Time Changes

In The War Within expansion, we have changes to the leveling system, including updates to Chromie Time and the New Player Experience. Here are the key details to keep in mind:

  • Chromie Time now allows players to level up to Level 70.
  • The default New Player Experience is Dragonflight. It means that all new accounts would be offered to play through this expansion first, instead of BFA, which was previously offered by default. Blizzard has made various changes to the leveling content within Dragonflight to keep it relevant and engaging for players.

All these modifications made on The War Within leveling system opens other opportunities and fastens up leveling process. Whether you decide to level up in BFA, Legion, Dragonflight or somewhere in the middle, there is more than enough to do.

Starter Builds in The War Within

This has been raised in World of Warcraft The War Within by designing the convenience of selecting an out-of-box talent build that is suitable for most cases known as the Starter Builds. These builds are especially helpful for players who do not care to read about talent builds for certain classes or simply are newcomers to the given specialization.

The War Within Leveling Guide

Here’s a step by step instruction on how to load a Starter Build:

  1. Bring up the Talents Tab;
  2. Select your desired specialization;
  3. From the Loadout Tab dropdown, choose the Starter Build option.

This will load an auto talent build set for leveling and normal instances and raids by default by Blizzard. At a higher level, you will revert to this build to the better one, which suits your character.

Leveling Your Main Character in The War Within

In order to advance through WoW The War Within storyline, your first character has to have a certain progression and go through the zones in a once certain way. Isle of Dorn is The War Within’s starting zone for your 70-80 level adventure.

However, completing the campaign alone will not provide enough experience to reach Level 80. To level up efficiently, it’s important to also complete the visible side quests in each following zone and queue up for dungeons.

At the start, you’ll have a few types of content available: Leveling Campaigns, Side Quests all over the continent, and Normal Dungeons to level up to 80. During these activities, you’ll also get some valuable rewards, like Gold and your first Gear. It’s essential to pick the best options for your character, so we offer you to read our How To Gear Up Fast Guide to understand your gear boost goals.

For your convenience, we prepared the checklist of the swiftest leveling methods for your Main Character to reach the coveted level 80:

  1. Finish the Main Story Campaign. This is the obligatory task if you plan to level up your alts afterward, as it grants access to the Adventure Mode. To accelerate the process you can ask our team for Campaign Completion, which also helps to open the Adventure Mode.
  2. Complete each of the available New Dungeons. While TWW brings 8 new dungeons, only 4 of them will be available on Heroic and Mythic difficulty at the start.
  3. Complete all the Side Quests in at least one of the Khaz Algar Zones. For instance, The Ringing Deeps or Hallowfall will be the best options.

Leveling Your Alt Character in The War Within

Leveling up your alt characters in World of Warcraft’s The War Within has never been easier thanks to the inclusion of The War Within Warbands, World Quests, and side quests.

Warbands are the newest feature, which allows better resource management and transfer. But what’s more important, is that every max leveled character in Warband increases gained experience by 5%. Capped at 25%. We believe there are no explanations needed to understand that Five Warband Mentors: The War Within grants us the most rewarding leveling experience. If you need to unlock the Warband Bank to start sharing your leveling resources, ask our team to do this for you. Our pro players know how to do this fast and easily.

And we have prepared a checklist for your alts as well:

  1. Spam dungeons. This option allows you to gear up your alt, which is beneficial as many players struggle to find suitable and up-to-date gear for their alts. And you’ll also gain some extra XP.
  2. Complete the Main Story Quests. Do not miss out on this essential part and XP that it grants.
  3. Complete all Side Quests. With Adventure Mode and increased XP gain, send your alt to one of the zones, that you haven’t cleared yet. Remember that this is most effective if you’ve already done all the required steps on your main.

Requirements For 70-80 Leveling

Let’s break down the basics of late-game strategies in this part of the 70-80 leveling guide. To start The War Within Intro Questline, your character must be at least Level 70. Once you’ve reached this level, the quest will become available to you. Of course, it implies that you should have the expansion already bought on your account.

All in all, there are 2 different storylines: Level Up Campaign (Khaz Algar Campaign) and The War Within Campaign.

How Long Does It Take To Go From Level 70 To 80?

The tests completed by our Overgear team show, that WoW leveling in The War Within takes around 6 hours for an experienced player or 9-10 hours for an average player to gain all 2,481,285 XP to level 80. It might take a bit longer if you like to dive into each quest, read the story, and implement some kind of role-play elements into your gameplay.

However, the leveling speed run takes around 3,5 hours for trained players with experience and convenient addons, which you can find in our TWW Best Addons Guide.

The War Within Main Story Zones

The War Within Leveling Guide

So, when you finally reach the Khaz Algar continent, your TWW adventure begins. Here you’ll have four major zones to explore and level up your character to max level, and each of them has its own features and mesmerizing landscapes. All in all, the leveling campaign in Khaz Algar consists of 12 chapters, 3 per each of the zones that we describe below.

Isle of Dorn

The Isle of Dorn is the first leveling map in The War Within that we meet on arriving. In this location, we meet the Council of Dornogal, the first faction. The capital city is called Dornogal. Here you’ll find the portals leading to the Horde and Alliance capitals. In the Isle of Dorn, you’ll also find 3 Campaign questlines. After completing the chapters in this location, we move underground.

Increasing your renown level with The Council of Dornogal unlocks 2 mounts: Shale Ramolith and Smoldering Cinderbee. Our team is ready to assist you with this task and get all the renowned rewards, while all you need is to enjoy the things that you like and delegate the task to our pro players.

The Ringing Deeps

The Ringing Deeps is the starting underground point where we can level up. Below the level of the ground, a beautiful landscape with fantastic plants and animals welcomes us.  This location is the homeland of the Machine Speakers, who belong to the Earthen race.

The Machinespeakers have their own faction — The Assembly of the Deeps. Increasing renown level with this faction unlocks 2 mounts: Cyan Glowmite and Crimson Mudnose. If you want to become the owner of these beautiful creatures and obtain the renowned rewards, but you are not a fan of grind, ask our pro players to assist you, and we’ll take care of this task.

Hallowfall

Hallowfall is the second underground location with a skyline. A big crystal at the top of the cave is the main source of daylight for the underground citizens. Sometimes this unique mineral changes color. What is this crystal? We don’t know for sure, but there probably is a way to figure it out. The locals call the crystal Beledar, the “Emperor’s Vision”. In this location, 3 Storylines await.

Earning The Hallowfall Arathi Renown unlocks 2 mounts: Shackled Shadow and Vermillion Imperial Lynx. This is an uneasy task, but the Overgear team can assist you with earning the highest reputation rank.

Azj-Kahet

Azj-Kahet will be the last location to visit while leveling. This map has 3 Storylines as well. This place is the kingdom of the arachnid race and their leader — Ansurek, who you will face further in Season 1 Nerub’ar Palace Raid.

Here The Severed Threads faction is located. This faction has unique uncommon features, as it has 3 different Pacts (The Weaver, The General, and The Vizier). The process of gaining renown for all these Pacts goes more or less simultaneously. As you rank up in these Pacts, you rank up in The Severed Threads Renown too. You unlock 2 mounts from this faction: Ferocious Jawcrawler and Aquamarine Swarmite. The renown with this and all the factions above can be also obtained with the help of our experienced team, specializing in WoW renown.

Skyriding

In The War Within, players can unlock the ability to ride flying mounts the way they did in Dragonflight. It makes leveling faster and easier. The Skyriding feature becomes available at level 10, and it progresses with your leveling.

You can also unlock all Skyriding Glyphs for achievements. There are plenty of them for each zone explored, e.g. Skyriding Glyphs: Cinderbrew Meadery. It’s worth noting that unlocking Skyriding Talents is account-wide, so you only need to boost Skyriding on one character. This means you can enjoy the benefits of Skyriding on all of your characters without having to go through the unlocking process again. But this shouldn’t be your primary focus during the leveling phase if you want to save time.

For more information, be sure to check out our comprehensive Skyriding Guide. With this guide, you can learn everything about this exciting feature to level up your character in style.

Nokhudon Hold Leveling

The Nokhudon Hold Leveling is an AFK leveling method, which allows you to passively gain experience while another player in your party farms mobs. This method proved to be extremely fast and easy both in Dragonflight and in The War Within Beta.

This method involves teaming up with a high-level, well-geared friend and farming mobs in Nokhudon Hold in the western part of Ohn’ahran Plains, Dragonflight expansion.

The Nokhudon Hold Leveling has been proven to be incredibly effective, allowing players to level up to 70 in as little as 3 hours or less. The strategy involves your friend killing mobs, which gives you a substantial amount of experience points. The sheer number of mobs in this area means that you can constantly farm together and level up quickly.

While this method requires a well-geared friend who has enough time to help you power level, there are also self-play AFK Nokhud Leveling services available to help players level up quickly and efficiently. These professional services provide a convenient way to get ahead of other players and have multiple max-level alts without having to rely on a friend for help.

If you’re interested in this service, be sure to contact our manager to learn more about the process and pricing. However, it’s important to note that this offer may be limited, so act fast if you want to take advantage of this fast and effective leveling method.
