What is Awakening the Machine Event?

In Khaz Algar, the Machinespeakers are the Earthen dwarves, who can hear machines talking to them. One of these dwarves — Speaker Kuldas — can not only hear the machines, but he makes them sing. This character fixes all the defects, and in the Awakening the Machine Event he offers us to guard him while he completes maintenance of the Awakening Machine.

— Maintenance today, or repair tomorrow! — Speaker Kuldas.

This was the lore part, but it’s basically the essence of the event. In short, the

You may wonder, “Is Awakening the Machine weekly?” The answer is “Yes, it is.” This is an evergreen The War Within event with weekly rewards. The prizes can be looted from the Awakened Cache next to Kuldas. If you want to complete the event without any extra effort, our pro players know the strategy for Awakening the Machine completion, so you can rely on us. How to Start Awakening the Machine Event

Awakening The Machine Guide

To be able to start Awakening the Machine Event you need to reach Renown Level 3 with Assembly of the Deeps Faction. Then, head to Speaker Kuldas and talk to him. First, he offers you to “do some maintenance”, and second, you need to accept the request to begin maintenance by clicking the Begin Maintenance button. Once you click it, Kuldas will transfer both of you to the event zone. Speak to Kuldas one more time to start the event. The first wave will appear 5-10 seconds after you ask Kuldas to start, and the first enemies have low HP and are easy to kill. Each next wave will be tougher.

If your reputation is below the required level, it doesn’t mean that you have to skip this cool activity. We can help you to reach the desired level of renown with Assembly of the Deeps, and you won’t have to worry.

How to Complete the Awakening the Machine

To complete the Awakening the Machine, you need to withstand 20 waves of various mobs. Each 5th wave you’ll have time to take rest and heal yourself or Kuldas. Also, each 5th wave provides a reward upgrade. Wave 10 will start spawning Medbots, who drop useful potions when you defeat them. Wave 20 is the last one, where you must defeat Awakened Phalanx to get the final reward upgrade.

Though the event mechanics seem pretty straightforward, it’s no easy task. Firstly, because you have to deal with 20 waves of dangerous enemies. Secondly, you need to keep Speaker Kuldas alive, and he tends to take damage like crazy. Only after you defeat the final boss, the event will be considered complete and you’ll be able to test fortune and get Machine Defense Unit 1-11. Or ask our team to do this for you, and it will be our concern, not yours anymore.

Awakened the Machine Encounters

During the event, you’ll have to fight several types of mobs. Here we offer a detailed outline of each type:

  • Swarmbot — A small, low-health mob, who slowly moves towards Kuldas. Hit it with auto-attack or the ability to pull them.
  • Corrupted Machinist — A standard mob attacking Kuldas with Purging Flames. You need to interrupt this mob, and it’ll explode.
  • Explosive Bomberbot — Has low health, and employs Self-Destruct upon dying. Do not let it explode under Kuldas, move it away when its HP is >15-20%.
  • Malfunctioning Pylon — This is a more durable mob that shoots a continuous Hazardous Beam in a straight line. Try to place another mob or yourself in front of Kuldas to soak the Beam while damaging the Pylon.
  • Automatic Ironstrider — Elite mob, uses Volatile Magma DoT which after 8 seconds creates a Magma Puddle to where you’ll be standing. The puddle also unleashes magma waves in a cross-shaped formation or an X shape to be precise. Avoid letting Kuldas stand in the puddle by positioning yourself further from him.
  • Medbot — Low HP mob, who casts Routine Maintenance on the enemies and heals them. Kill this mob faster to avoid the healing of enemies and loot the green healing potion.
  • Nullbot— Low HP mob, casts Nullification Barrier on the enemies.
  • Awakened Phalanx — The final boss that appears at Wave 20. It casts Bellowing Slam, causing the ceiling to Cave In. Beware of his attacks, as he damages both you and Kuldas.

Tips to Complete Awakening the Machine

We have done some tests and now can share the results with you. Here’s a list of tips that may help you to complete this event on the first try:

  1. Prepare Consumables. Yes, this sounds too basic and obvious, but some players tend to forget that consumables can buff you up and make the process faster. Get some Algari Healing Potions and/or Flask of Saving Graces before entering the event zone, and buy some combat potions relevant to your spec.
  2. Choose AoE spec. If this option works for you, complete the event on the spec that has a wide range of powerful AoE spells to be able to clear multiple mobs at a time. For instance, the good options are Fire Mage, Outlaw Rogue, Havoc Demon Hunter, or Unholy Death Knight.
  3. Healer Spec? That’s questionable, but if you are proficient enough on any healer, try this spec. Why so? Because healers are still capable of dealing good damage. You can kill two murlocs with one stone and defeat mobs while healing Kuldas and yourself.
  4. Don’t use Healing Potions. Wait, we said that you need to use consumables? Right, we did. But let’s remember that Medbots from the 10th wave start to drop Healing Potions to heal yourself or Speaker Kuldas. Do not use these exact potions on the second you get them, as the 10th wave and any wave up to level 15 is not the hardest thing that you’ll have to deal with. Wait till the situation becomes critical. It’s better to have some Potions left when you face the toughest mobs than to have full HP Kuldas dead seconds after a few headshots from 15-19 wave mobs or the final boss.
  5. Take your time. When you have a period of rest after each 5th wave, wait for your major CDs to be available again, and only then continue the fight.
  6. Spare Toolbox. If you have Renown Level 7 with the Assembly, you have a chance to loot Spare Toolbox from mobs. In the event zone, you can use one of those Toolboxes to get a special ability. Works only once, so choose wisely!

Awakening the Machine Rewards

Awakening The Machine Guide

The rewards in Awakening the Machine steadily increase as you progress through the event. You have 4 caches to earn with each 5th wave of mobs. The rewards are cumulative, so if you manage to complete all 20 waves, you’ll receive all four chests. If you only clear 10 waves, you’ll receive just the first two chests. But keep in mind that if you leave the event, the progress will be lost.

Each of the four chests contains Valorstones and reputation points with The Assembly of the Deeps. Also, caches usually include several Carved Harbinger Crests. Additionally, the chests from Wave 5-15 include Resonance Crystals used for gear upgrades. Every chest also has a chance to drop the Machine Defense Unit 1-11.
