4.9WoW Lunar Festival Overview
Lunar Festival 2025 hits World of Warcraft from January 28 to February 11. It summons all players to praise their ancestors together in various fun ways. This year Blizzard has prepared lots of new rewards for active players. Festive dress, dragon costumes, and flower crowns are other rewards that increase the feel of celebration. The major WoW TWW Lunar Festival activity is Honoring the Elders. Your primary task is to visit Elders around Azeroth and speak to them or /bow in order to show your honor. Elders will reward you with Coin of Ancestry, which you can later use to gain Lunar Festival rewards. Additionally, Elders can grant you a Lucky Red Envelope with a Lucky Rocket Cluster inside or an Elder’s Moonstone.
✏️ Tip: Launch a Lucky Rocket Cluster to gain Lunar Fortune buff: +5 Health.
To honor some of the Elders you will need to enter a certain phase, which is possible thanks to Zidormi. Here’s the instruction for some of the Elders, reaching which may require changing phase:
- Elder Darkcore can be found in Undercity and Elder Graveborn in Tirisfal Glades. Find Zidormi at /way 69.4, 62.8 by Ruins of Undercity in Tirisfal Glades;
- Elder Bellowrage can be found in Blasted Lands. Reach out to Zidormi at /way 48.2, 7.2 at the north entrance in Blasted Lands;
- Elder Bladeleaf is located in Teldrassil, Elder Starweave is in Darkshore, and Elder Bladeswift is in Darnassus. Find and speak to Zidormi at /way 48,8, 24.4 outside Lor’danel in Darkshore;
- Elder Bladesing and Elder Primestone can be found in Silithus. Talk to Zidormi at /way 78.8, 22.0 at Valor’s Rest in Silithus.
Traveling that much is an uneasy task, and you have to be prepared. Even though you do not need to fight, some consumables, good gear, and fast mounts always come in handy. Make sure that you have enough Gold for your adventures, or get it from our team fast and easy.

Lunar Festival Quests
During the WoW Lunar Festival you will come across many quests that will allow you to participate in the main events and enjoy the celebration. The Lunar Festival starts with Lunar Festival Herald (Horde) or Lunar Festival Emissary (Alliance), and ends at Lunar Festival Harbinger.

If the Blessing of the Moon expires, you must restart. Completing this quest unlocks the ability to transmog Flower Crowns year-round.
Omen the Lunar Festival Holiday Boss
During the festive time, you can participate in an excellent quest — Elune’s Blessing. The quest requires you to summon Omen, defeat him, and gain Elune’s Blessing. A step-by-step instruction on how to kill Omen:
- Acquire Rocket Clusters. Purchase Blue, Green, and Red clusters at a Lunar Festival Vendor or farm them through crafting/quests;
- Go to Moonglade. In Moonglage, travel to the Stormrage Barrow Dens, southeast of Lake Elune’ara;
- Summon Omen. Once you’ve reached the location, launch the rockets, and minions of Omen will spawn in;
- Kill the Minions. Use Elune’s Candle (which can be purchased for 10 silver at Valadar Starsong’s stand) to cause additional damage;
- Kill Omen. Once a group of minions has been killed, Omen will spawn. He is roughly 3 levels over your group’s level but isn’t particularly challenging to kill. Keep attacking him till dead.
Lunar Festival Rewards
The World of Warcraft Lunar Festival offers its in-game characters a plethora of in-game items to make the event even more vibrant and exciting. Once you gain access to Coin of Ancestry, you can trade them for party hats, fireworks, heirlooms, toys, and pets, exclusively for the occasion alone.
In WoW Lunar Festival 2025, you can even obtain a new Lunar Launcher mount at vendor shops during the period of the festival. Read more about this mount in our TWW Mount Guide. You can also gain a new Elders of Khaz Algar achievement for visiting specific Elders at specific locations. Not only is taking part in the Lunar Festival a reward for in-game collectibles, but it is a tribute to the rich lore and heritage of Azeroth, as well.

Lunar Festival Battle Pets
There are two specific Lunar Festival battle pets, the appearance of which depends on your faction. Lunar Lantern and Festival Lantern come in Blue and Red colors, each available either for the Alliance or for the Horde. A player from one faction can not buy a lantern of the opposing faction. Each lantern, no matter the faction, costs 50 Coin of Ancestry.
The lanterns have a few abilities: Beam, Illuminate, Soul Ward, Burn, Flash, Light.

Elune’s Lantern
Elune’s Lantern is another toy you can get during the period of Lunar Festival celebrations. This toy summons Elune Stone: “Summon a ring of light on a specific location that lasts for 3 min”.

- Completing the achievement will reward you with Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake & get you closer to the What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been meta-achievement.
