WoW Heritage Armor Sets are cosmetic armor available for all allied and almost all core races. Each set has its own requirements to unlock. With the War Within expansion, we have new Pandaren and Earthen heritage armor added. In this guide, we cover everything about what Heritage Armor Sets are, what Allied Races are, how to unlock them, and finally, how to get Heritage Armor Sets for all races.
What are Heritage Armor Sets?
Heritage Armor in WoW features unique ensembles, available for new races, first introduced in Patch 8.0.1 by Blizzard. These races are known as Allied races, and they are not available by default — you need to complete a few introductory quests in order to get them. Also, you need to have at least one Level 40 character to start any of these quests.
📌 There are 22 Heritage Armor Sets available in the game now, one per race, including both core and allied races.
All WoW races have their own unique lore and race abilities. Also, after you unlock the allied race, you will get a themed mount and the aforementioned Heritage armor. That’s why unlocking new races is totally worth it.
How to get Heritage Armor Sets?
As was mentioned above, each Heritage Armor Set in WoW has its own requirements to unlock, and these requirements differ for Allied and Original races. For some sets, you will need to get an Exalted reputation with the associated faction and complete a short questline.
From Blizzard’s Hotfix (August 20, 2024), we now know that:
“Using a Character Boost, Race Change, or Faction Change no longer disqualifies the character from doing Heritage Armor quests.”
Heritage Armor Sets are cosmetic rewards, and they can be transmogged into any type of armor. And, of course, they’re race-bound items and cannot be transmogged by other races.
