What is the WoW Black Market Auction House?

The Black Market Auction House, also known as BMAH, is a unique feature in the World of Warcraft. It is a specialized auction house that offers players the chance to bid on and purchase rare and valuable items that are otherwise unobtainable through regular auction houses or gameplay. Here, players can find elusive and sought-after items such as TCG (Trading Card Game) items, coveted mounts like the Plagued Proto-Drake and Swift Zulian Tiger, and exclusive gear and transmog items. Accessible only to max level characters, the Black Market Auction House provides opportunity for players to acquire some of the rarest and most sought-after items in the game.

How to access the Black Market?

Since the era of Mists of Pandaria, the Black Market Auction House has become a consistent presence in each subsequent expansion. However, in each expansion, the auction is associated with Madam Goya, who provides black market services.

In Dragonflight, the Black Market Auction House is available in two locations. The main location is in Valdrakken under Little Scales Daycare (34.66, 60.50).

An additional spot for the Black Market Auction House can be found near the Obsidian Bulwark in the Waking Shores. At this location, you’ll encounter Steelsage Gao, who provides information about the ongoing auctions in the Black Market. However, please note that bidding on items from this spot is not possible.

Other auction houses:

  • Mist of Pandaria – The Veiled Stair (63.8 75.8);
  • Warlords of Draenor – in the Ring of Blood on Draenor’s Nagrand (53.8 15.0);
  • Legion – Dalaran auction house in the sewers of Dalaran (71.0 18.6);
  • Battle for Azeroth – Boralus (56.7, 46.3) and Dazar’alor (63.6 62.6);
  • Shadowlands – Revendreth (52.01, 83.66).

Rules of the Black Market Auction House

  • One of the most important rules of the Black Market Auction House is that only max-level characters can access it. This means that players must have at least one character at the maximum level to even have a chance to engage in the bidding wars for these elusive items. This requirement ensures that players have invested significant time and effort into their characters before accessing the BMAH.
  • The auctions have a fixed duration. Unlike regular auction houses, where items are listed for a set period of time, the BMAH operates on a different timeline. The duration of auctions in the Black Market Auction House can vary, and players must pay attention to the expiration time and act swiftly if they want to secure their desired items.
  • Black Market Auction House uses a bidding system rather than a traditional buyout system. This means that there is no set price for items, and players must place bids on items they want to acquire. The highest bidder at the end of the auction wins the item. It’s a competitive environment where players must be strategic and mindful of their bidding prices. The maximum bid is 9,999,999 (gold cap). Get ready for serious buyouts in advance by buying gold with our Overgear Gold service.
  • Distinct categories of items come with specific initial bidding ranges. Common pets typically commence at 1,000, while tabards and shirts at 5,000. Tier 3 transmog items often start at 10,000, uncommon pets and toys at 15,000, and rare pets and mounts at 20,000.
  • Once a bid is placed, it cannot be retracted.
