Dragonflight is here, and it’s high time to start looking for new sources of improving your character’s power. Gearing is an important part of the end-game process. Not only it helps you to deal with harder trials but allows you to smooth your gameplay to an appropriate level of difficulty. Without proper items, your character may fall behind drastically. This is not a problem anymore. Welcome to the Dragonflight Gearing guide from Overgear Team. We are starting now!
Disclaimer: Note that this guide has been written during the Dragonflight pre-season period. Some of the options for gearing may not be available at the launch of the expansion.
Dragonflight Dungeons Gear
Farming Dungeons is one of many ways to gear up your character. Dungeons come in 4 difficulty variations. They are Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+. The more difficult it is, the better reward you get. Let’s look into those.
Normal Dungeons
Is a starter option. Doesn’t contain any superior challenges. Bosses drop ilvl 346 gear for lvl 70 players, and there are no daily CDs. Can’t be considered a good source of gear due to its low quality and stats. It is more like a ‘better than nothing’ option. Still, we had to mention it. Let’s move on.
Heroic Dungeons
A slightly harder variant of Normal mode. Bosses get some new abilities, but it is not enough to become a real challenge. You can loot ilvl 359 gear here once a day for every dungeon. It is worth it to go here only if you really need a slight upgrade. Otherwise, it is also skippable in most cases.
Mythic Dungeons
This is where players can face their first troubles. Bosses and trash mobs’ abilities become more difficult to handle. Following encounter tactics is necessary to succeed. You will be rewarded with ilvl 372 gear here, which is a good start to your first Normal mode raiding attempts. Mythic dungeons have a weekly lockout, which means you can receive rewards only once a week per each boss.

Mythic+ Dungeons
The main source of gear for many players. Item level of rewards scales with key level. The higher key you run, the better rewards you get at the end of the dungeon and from the weekly chest. It has no lockouts, so Mythic+ can be farmed repeatedly.

Raid Gear
In Dragonflight, there are some ilvl changes that players are used to. There are still 4 difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. Item level grew according to higher difficulty before. Now it also increases within the same difficulty-based boss:
- The first boss drops the lowest ilvl gear;
- Then it increases with 3 ilvl for boss 2-4;
- Then it increases with 4 ilvl for boss 5-6;
- Then it increases with 3 ilvl for boss 7-8.

Crafting Professions Gear
Dragonflight brings huge changes to professions. Crafted gear can be upgraded with BoP items that players loot all over the world. That will increase the item level and quality of the gear. Gear can be crafted by yourself, or you can have it crafted for you using the new Work Order system. Crafted gear starts at 306 ilvl but can be improved up to 418 ilvl!
World Quests Gear
World quests occasionally will reward players with gear, starting at item level 340 and capping at ilvl 382. These numbers will increase in the future Seasons. Open your world map to find world quests in different zones that may bring some gear improvements for your character.
Dragonflight World Bosses Gear
There are 4 World bosses in Dragonflight, one for each available zone. Only one spawns per week, and they will rotate. They drop ilvl 395 gear. The world bosses are:
PvP Gear
There are 2 PvP vendors Seltherex, Honor Quartermaster (Honor gear), and Calderax, Conquest Quartermaster (Conquest gear). These vendors sell PvP gear such as Weapons, gear, and trinkets.
Honor Gear
This gear starts at ilvl 340 and increases to ilvl 411 in PvP as soon as you enter a PvP combat or when your Warmode is turned on.
This gear can be upgraded 5 times.
Rank | ilvl PvE | ilvl PvP |
1 | 340 | 411 |
2 | 346 | 411 |
3 | 353 | 411 |
4 | 359 | 411 |
5 | 366 | 411 |
Conquest Gear
This gear starts at ilvl 382 and increases to ilvl 424 in PvP as soon as you enter a PvP combat or when your Warmode is turned on. This gear can be upgraded 9 times up to ilvl 408.
Reputation rewards
Some factions will reward players not only with pets, toys and mounts but also they will provide some gear. Usually, it is not worth it to farm reputation just to get that gear, but Dragonflight revamps the system of the reputation system, making it account-wide. So that means now this will be a good way to gear up your alts in the future.
One faction stands out. Take a closer look at Steiz. He is the Quartermaster of Cobalt Assembly. He provides players with a good ilvl 389 ring. It doesn’t take much time to get it. The rewards are the following:
Welcome to the Assembly is an initial quest to start reputation farming.
