It’s time for us to get acquainted with the pink class of World of Warcraft. In this guide, we’ll go over all of the changes to the Dragonflight paladin, as well as give you some tips. Get comfortable, there’s something interesting ahead of you.
Disclaimer: This guide is unfinished due to in-game circumstances. Dragonflight hasn’t been released yet, so we cannot go through builds, gear, consumables, and rotation here. We think it is very important to provide our readers with the most up-to-date and relevant information, and that’s why we ask you to wait a while. Keep in touch, and come back later to learn about the rest of the Mage gameplay secrets.
Dragonflight Paladin Overview
The Paladin is canon for the World of Warcraft class. Most of the main characters-leaders were paladins – Arthas Menethil, Uther, Anduin (Or is he a priest? then why is he wearing heavy armor =)) and many others. But unfortunately, they did not have this guide, so they all ended in failure. Arthas became death knight (by the way, we have a DK guide), then died, and no battle rez for this expansion for him, Uther died too, Anduin went wild. In other words, you need to be well prepared.
Paladin is a melee class that can take on one of three roles: Protection for a tank, Retribution for a damage dealer, and Holy for a healer. Regardless of specialization, all paladins wear plate mail, but their main attributes differ. The first two specializations’ main attributes are Strength and Holy – Intellect.
Dragonflight Paladin Spec Choice
The strengths and weaknesses of each class are purely subjective things. However, there are axioms with which most agree.

Dragonflight Paladin Changes
Many Paly abilities have undergone significant changes or even become general for all specializations. Here you can read about some of the most powerful general changes:
- Intercession — now paladin has battle resurrection;
- Rebuke — now Holy can kick cast;
- Divine Favor is now a normal talent instead of a PvP talent and no longer makes you immune to interrupts;
- Rule of Law no longer increases the range of Mastery: Lightbringer;
- Retribution Aura now you don’t have to wait until someone from the party dies. When an ally loses 50% HP, you will get Seraphim;
- Blessing of Sacrifice no longer grants a 25% damage reduction to Paladin;
- Sacrifice of the Just — makes Blessing of Sacrifice a 1 min cooldown.

Dragonflight Paladin Talents
Protection Paladin
The main gameplay of the Protection Paladin is to generate a resource called Holy Power and spend it on defensive abilities like Shield of the Righteous and Word of Glory. Considering that Avenger’s Shield no longer generates Holy Power, your rotation will change a little, and the paladin will no longer be an Interrupt King. However, a high Haste level will negate this change, and Holy Power will be generated in sufficient quantities.
Another major change that Protection Paladin has undergone is the rework of Holy Shield. Now you must face the target to block damage, which reminds me of DK’s gameplay. This means that if you turn your back to the opponents, your already low amount of HP will drop to zero very quickly. But don’t think the Protection Paladin is a paper tank. He still has Consecration, which reduces all incoming damage (even magic).
Retribution Retribution
Retribution Paladin has occasionally been seen in the dungeons of the Shadowlands, but stars from the sky are not enough. The Dragonflight expansion didn’t change that much: he still generates Holy Power with Judgment, Blade of Justice, and Hammer of Wrath, and spends it on Templar’s Verdict for ST damage and Divine Storm for AoE damage
A notable change is the Crusade, which will most likely replace Avenging Wrath, as Crusade looks much stronger and more efficient.
Holy Paladin
The Holy Paladin has always been a melee healer, which sometimes caused some inconvenience. Dragonflight will give you the opportunity to change that a bit. With his variable talent tree, the Holy Paladin will be able to choose for himself a convenient and, most importantly, effective gameplay.
If you were already happy with playing melee, little will change for you — you will focus on improving Crusader Strike and Holy Shock in the talent tree. If you want to change the feel of the gameplay a bit, you can retrain as a half-ranged healer (like Draktyr) and learn Holy Light and cast Infusion of Light procs on your Beacon of Light target to generate two Holy Power points. However, you will still need to get close to the fight to use Light of Dawn. Also, don’t forget your Mastery increases your healing more the closer you are to the target.
Dragonflight Paladin Leveling
Paladin is one of the best leveling classes. Regardless of specialization, he has a lot of damage, awesome self-healing, and even immortality. One drawback is poor mobility, but it’s not so bad because you have a mount that will come in handy if you level up on the Warlords of Draenor and Legion expansions quests because they give the most experience.
As an alternative to the open world, you can choose dungeons that Paladin of any specialization will be happy to accept because any of his specializations provides many useful utilities for the group.
Useful objects list for leveling:
- Gunshoes — A very useful object to go very fast during 25s;
- Light-Step Hoofplates — gives +20% mounted speed;
- Goblin Glider Kit — allows you to glide slowly from any cliff. Saves a lot of time;
- Fried Bonefish — food from Shadowlands. Gives 263 move speed for 6s after killing an enemy.
Dragonflight Paladin Stats
- Intellect— increases Spell Power for Holy Paladin;
- Strength — increases Spell and Attack Power for Protection and Retribution Paladins;
- Haste — reduces your Global Cooldown, increases the number of spells you can cast at the unit of time;
- Critical Strike — increases the chance to deal additional damage or healing;
- Versatility — decreases damage taken, increases damage dealt;
- Mastery for Protection — increases your chance to block and damage reduction while standing in Consecration;

Dragonflight Paladin Best Professions
Paladin wears plate armor, so you can choose Blacksmithing. In Dragonflight, professions will allow you to create armor and weapons that are as powerful as mythic equipment, so this is a good option for enhancing your character. Mining works best with Blacksmithing. Mining will help you get the needed resources, and you can sell the surplus on AH.
For more successful results in dungeons, it is best to study Engineering because it opens access to items like Disposable Spectrophasic Reanimator and Wyrmhole Generator.
