Where to Get the Infernal Cape in OSRS

Where to Get the Infernal Cape in OSRS

The Infernal Cape in OSRS is obtained by completing the Inferno and defeating TzKal-Zuk on the final wave. The Inferno has 69 waves in total and is one of the hardest PvM challenges in Old School RuneScape. You can access the Inferno in Mor Ul Rek, the inner part of the TzHaar city beneath Karamja Volcano. The entrance is close to the TzHaar Fight Cave area, so players who have already earned a Fire Cape will know the general route.

To unlock the Inferno, you must sacrifice one Fire Cape. This unlocks access to the activity, so you do not need to sacrifice another Fire Cape for every attempt. After that, you can re-enter the Inferno and keep practicing until you finally earn the cape. Here are the Infernal Cape access requirements:

ℹ️ You don’t lose the Fire Cape permanently — only the instance you sacrifice. You can re-earn Fire Capes from the Fight Cave and re-enter the Inferno as many times as needed. Most players have multiple Fire Capes before seriously grinding the Inferno.

Inferno Wave Structure

The Inferno escalates enemies across 69 waves before the final Zuk encounter. Unlike the Fight Cave, multiple enemy types appear simultaneously and often attack from different angles.

Wave RangeKey EnemiesCore Challenge
1–35Nibblers, Bats, Blobs, MeleersSafe spotting, pillar control, and spawn management
36–60Rangers, Mages, Blobs, MeleersPrayer switching, wave solving, and supply control
61–66Mixed high-pressure wavesHandling dangerous Mage and Ranger setups
Wave 67Single JalTok-JadPrayer switches and healer control
Wave 68Triple JadsFast prayer swaps under heavy pressure
Wave 69TzKal-ZukShield movement, sets, Jad spawn, and Zuk healers

The final fight uses a moving shield. You must stay behind it to avoid TzKal-Zuk’s ranged attack. During the fight, you also deal with Ranger and Mage sets, one Jad spawn, and Jal-MejJak healers.

Zuk healers are usually killed with Ranged weapons, often with a Toxic Blowpipe or another fast option. Clean movement matters here, since chasing healers too hard can pull you out from behind the shield.

Recommended Gear and Setup for Infernal Cape

Ranged is the dominant style throughout the Inferno. Magic (specifically Ice Barrage) is used for healer freezing during the Zuk fight. For strong OSRS Infernal Cape attempts, players usually build around one of these Ranged setups:

  • Twisted Bow with Masori or Armadyl gear;
  • Bow of Faerdhinen with Crystal armor;
  • Armadyl Crossbow with Ruby and Diamond Bolts (e);
  • Toxic Blowpipe for nibblers, healers, and quick cleanup;
  • Ancient Magicks gear swap for Blood Barrage or freeze control.

Masori, Crystal, and Armadyl are the most common armor paths. Your choice depends on budget, weapon setup, and comfort. More damage helps a lot, but clean wave solving matters even more. For inventory, bring Saradomin Brews, Super Restores, Ranging Potions, and runes for Ancient Magicks. Many players also add Bastion Potions or extra prayer support, depending on their route

OSRS Infernal Cape FAQ

Below are the most common questions about earning the Infernal Cape in OSRS.

How Hard Is the Infernal Cape Compared to the Fire Cape?

Significantly harder. The Fire Cape requires learning Jad’s two-attack pattern. The Inferno requires managing multiple enemy types simultaneously across 69 waves, surviving a multi-Jad wave, and executing precise mechanics during TzKal-Zuk. Most players complete their first Fire Cape within 2–5 attempts. The Infernal Cape average is 20–50+ attempts for non-elite players.

How Long Does a Full Inferno Attempt Take?

A complete run takes 2.5–4 hours depending on pace and wave management efficiency. Deaths don’t return you to a checkpoint — you restart from wave 1. Banking on staying alive matters more than going fast.

What Stats Are Needed for the Infernal Cape?

Practical minimums are 90 Ranged, 90 Defence, 74 Prayer for Rigour, and 94 Magic for Ice Barrage. Below these thresholds, the margin for error becomes very thin. Most first completions feel smoother with 95+ Ranged, high Hitpoints, strong Prayer, and a reliable Ranged setup.

Is the Infernal Cape Worth the Effort?

For serious PvM accounts, yes. The Infernal Cape gives +4 to melee Attack bonuses and +8 Strength, making it the strongest melee cape in OSRS. More practically, it also signals real account progression and can later be combined with a Max Cape to create the Infernal Max Cape. Many players treat the Infernal Cape as a rite of passage rather than a simple stat upgrade.

Can You Buy an Infernal Cape in OSRS?

Infernal Cape is non-tradeable — every player must earn it personally. There are no shortcuts through the Grand Exchange. Third-party services exist but violate Jagex’s terms of service.

The Inferno does not care how expensive your setup looks. Even players with top-tier gear can die to bad positioning, missed prayers, or panic clicks. Knowledge, patience, and clean execution win the cape.
