The Venomous Abyss Guide

WoW The Venomous Abyss is an eight-boss raid introduced in Patch 12.1 and serves as the centerpiece of WoW Midnight Season 2. Located within the Temple of Ula’tek beneath the Coiled Isle, the raid sends players into a venom-flooded Amani temple to confront Ula’tek and the corrupted forces awakened by her return.

The Venomous Abyss Raid Release Date

The launch date of WoW Midnight The Venomous Abyss raid is currently unknown, but is speculated to be around August 18, 2026. This raid will start one week after the release of Patch 12.1, with Season 2. If you want to follow the Race to World First when the raid releases, we have a dedicated page where you can follow daily updates on the progress of each team.

The Venomous Abyss will release in different ways depending on the difficulty:

  • Both Normal and Heroic modes are released with all eight bosses up front;
  • Mythic mode, along with all the Raid Finder wings, will be released in the following weeks.

Players must venture into the ancient Amani temple, now flooded with venom and overrun by corrupted creatures, to stop the awakening of the serpent goddess Ula’tek.

Nek’zali the Soulcoiler

The Venomous Abyss Guide

Nek’zali the Soulcoiler is the first boss in WoW Midnight Venomous Abyss. It is a three-stage encounter centered around the Soulcoil Well. The fight revolves around controlling adds, managing raid damage, and stopping Nek’zali’s ritual before her final empowered phase overwhelms the raid.

Nek’zali the Soulcoiler Strategy:

  • During Phase 1, avoid Anguished Echoes, move away with Essence Rend, and quickly destroy the Latent Cultists it creates.
  • Tanks should swap when Sever and Hollowed stacks become dangerous, while the raid defeats the Restless Amani around the room.
  • Healers should prepare for heavy raid damage from Soulcoil Ignition and prevent too many souls from entering the well during Soulcoil Rite.
  • At 50% health, defeat every Echo of Jawae to remove its Tether of Awakening, avoid Soul Transfer explosions, and end the intermission.
  • During Uncoiling, heal through constant raid-wide damage while continuing to handle Essence Rend and Sever, and defeat Nek’zali before Uncoiled Rage greatly increases her damage and makes her immune to taunts.

Entombed Sentinels

The Entombed Sentinels are the second boss of The Venomous Abyss in WoW Midnight. In this fight, two golems have to be separated, since otherwise, they will take 99% less damage when they are together.

How to Beat Entombed Sentinels:

  • Keep the two Sentinels more than 40 yards apart to avoid Ula’tek’s Dominance.
  • Tanks should separate the bosses and swap after Empowering Slam and Bloodvenom Injection stacks become too high.
  • Destroy Toxic Droplets before they explode and kill the Venom Coagulation slime quickly to stop Contaminate.
  • Dispel Blighted Blood carefully and place Blood Venom pools away from the raid.
  • Players targeted by Unstable Miasma should group together to split the damage before spreading out.
  • When both Sentinels reach 100 Energy, they cast Vitriolic Stasis, healing the weaker boss while reducing damage taken by 99%.
  • Keep both bosses at similar health levels before this phase to reduce the amount of healing they receive.
  • During Helical Toxins, infected players must collide with each other until reaching exactly four stacks to neutralize the effect.
  • Failing to remove Helical Toxins causes Cultivated Burst, dealing massive damage and leaving a dangerous damage-over-time effect.

Vashnik the Malignant

Vashnik the Malignant is a multi-phase boss in Midnight Venomous Abyss. Boss empowerment through draining of fountains around him to form venom beasts which need to be dealt with before reaching the Malignant Cavity.

How to Defeat Vashnik the Malignant:

  • Position Vashnik between casts of Imbibe to control which fountains he drains and prevent dangerous combinations.
  • Defeat venom creatures created by the fountains before they reach the Malignant Cavity and trigger Malignant Reaction.
  • Prioritize Clotting Venom, Shrouded Venom, and Burning Venom depending on the active fountain, while handling their unique effects after death.
  • Players affected by Plague Froth should move away from others to avoid spreading Plague Waves when the effect expires.
  • Tanks should manage Dripping Fangs, as it applies a heavy damage-over-time effect and increases physical damage taken.
  • Healers must prepare for Adaptive Infection, which changes based on Vashnik’s active fountain and reduces healing received.
  • Avoid Siphoning Infection by spreading out, move away from Exploding Infection, and dodge Stygian Burst ground effects.
  • Prevent any venom mass from reaching the Malignant Cavity, as Malignant Burst deals heavy raid-wide damage and leaves a long-lasting damage-over-time effect.

Sszorak is a boss in The Venomous Abyss in Season 2 of WoW Midnight, located in the middle of the raid. It requires the raid to survive the onslaught of fast attacks while having to deal with wind mechanics and ramping up damage.

How to Defeat Sszorak:

  • Tanks should manage Corroding Venom stacks, as each application increases Physical damage taken from Sszorak’s attacks.
  • Handle Apex Predator by surviving his chained attacks and using defensive cooldowns when needed.
  • Avoid Venomous Surge impacts and stay away from Viscous Cysts, which knock players away when touched.
  • Spread out during Raging Crosswinds to avoid the explosion damage when the effect expires.
  • Players affected by Turbulent Gusts should avoid colliding with others unless they are intentionally removing the effect.
  • During Howling Maelstrom, position carefully and move with the wind direction to avoid being pushed into danger.
  • Sszorak uses Dig In during Howling Maelstrom, becoming immune to movement effects but taking 30% increased damage, creating an opportunity for DPS.

The Twin Fangs from WoW Venomous Abyss is a boss that needs the raid to control stacks of Eternal Venom while fighting two bosses at the same time. Each of these bosses has separate mechanics that have to be dealt with by every player in the raid group.

The Twin Fangs Strategy:

  • Avoid Caustic Deluge globules and Caustic Globules.
  • Defeat Spawn of Vexhul quickly and avoid Corrosive Spit and venom waves.
  • Tanks should manage Envenomed stacks from Vexhul and Fractured stacks from Ithraz, swapping when needed.
  • Keep Ithraz in range during Stone Breaker and ensure players are hit by the slams.
  • Move away from others during Coiling Ichor.
  • Avoid Noxious Slicks left behind by Submerge, as they slow movement and deal constant damage.
  • At 100 Energy, survive Vexhul’s Vile Flood and Ithraz’s Sanguine Storm by avoiding venom zones and incoming projectiles.
  • When one boss dies, quickly finish the remaining Twin Fang, as Uncoiled Wrath increases the survivor’s damage over time.

The Coiled Altar is the second-to-last encounter of The Venomous Abyss in WoW Midnight Season 2. You will battle Zul’jan and have to your way around the Ritual of the Fang. You will need to disrupt the ritual and intercept the beams that power the Fang of Ula’tek.

The Coiled Altar Strategy:

  • Intercept the snake head beams to prevent Zul’jan from gaining Fang Empowered.
  • Players intercepting beams will take constant Nature damage.
  • Bloodletting removes Ritual Venom stacks but creates blood pools.
  • Dodge Boneslicer axes.
  • Keep the arena clear of blood pools.
  • Healers should prepare for repeated raid damage from Ritual of the Fang.

Ula’tek

The Venomous Abyss Guide

Final boss of WoW Midnight Venomous Abyss is Ula’tek and the boss fight consists of three phases involving venom mechanics, adds and arena control. Raid group will need to make sure not to allow Devourer’s Spawn to emerge, beat the followers of Ula’tek in the break between phases and make sure to survive collapse of the battleground in phase three.

How to Beat Ula’tek:

  • Avoid Caustic Waves, as they deal heavy damage and can instantly hatch Devourer’s Spawn eggs when they make contact.
  • Kill Devourer’s Spawn before they reach venom pools and hatch Blightscale Vipers, which apply Putrid Membrane to the entire raid.
  • Destroy the Slithering Clutch quickly.
  • Tanks should keep Ula’tek in melee range to avoid Unchecked Rage.
  • During Rage of the Shackled, avoid Falling Debris and focus the exposed Venomous Heart, which takes increased damage.
  • During Spectral Coils, players should stack under impact zones to reduce the damage shared by the group.
  • In the final phase, avoid Demolish and continue managing Caustic Waves, adds, and venom as safe areas of the platform disappear.
