Anubisath Idol

Anubisath Idol

Those who are already familiar with the pet battles will not be surprised by the first representative of our selection. Anubisath Idol has long maintained its position as one of the strongest pets with the high defense level, which allows it to defeat most opponents including elite foes. When used in PvP, it can cause serious moral pressure on enemies; which is why other players try to counteract Anubis in every possible way, though in most cases – unsuccessfully. Having two of these guys in the team may be considered impolite by others.

Advantages of Anubisath Idol:

  • Strong defensive abilities, incredible survivability
  • Self-healing
  • Decent damage

How to get Anubisath Idol:

There is so to say a golden trio of pets that remain extremely useful and powerful throughout the last three expansions.  They allow you to win 70% of battles without preparation. We present the honorable members of this trio: Bone Serpent, Servant of Demidos, and Dread Hatchling. It’s a quite versatile setup with good synergy, and it is tearing up most of what you might meet in PvP. Here they are:

Bone Serpent

Bone Serpent

Bone Serpent – even being nerfed by moving the main combo abilities in a shared slot, this miniature Avatar of Hakkar remains to be a somewhat meta choice. Has a unique and near-exclusive Bone Barrage ability.

Advantages of Bone Serpent:

  • Set of quite powerful abilities
  • Good sustained damage through Bone Barrage/Death and Decay
  • Works well with other Call Darkness/Nocturnal Strike pets, such as another member of our chosen trio – Dread Hatchling.

How to get Bone Serpent:

Servant of Demidos

Servant of Demidos

Servant of Demidos is one of the easiest yet strongest pets to use. Don’t be deceived by the small health pool, it is not an easy breakable glass cannon – the combination of abilities allows this pet to survive the onslaught of the enemy while landing some heavy critical shots. It has only a 15% chance to drop from Demidos when he is active, so it might take you a few attempts to get one unless you go straight to the AH.

Advantages of Servant of Demidos:

  • Heavy-hitting Magic attacks
  • Exclusive spell – Magic Sword, move with a 50% crit chance.
  • Siphon Anima – reliable and useful healing ability. A life-steal from the enemy pairs well with the passive which prevents this pet from taking more than 35% of HP from any single hit.

How to get Servant of Demidos:

  • Drop from rare spawn Demidos in Shadowmoon Valley.
  • Can be bought on the AH

Dread Hatchling

Dread Hatchling

This little boy is one of the rewards from the Warlords of Draenor Collector’s Edition. However, there is a real killing machine hidden behind this cuteness. The Call Darkness and Nocturnal Strike combination can hit like a truck, often knocking down opponents before they even realize what hit them. Peck and Nocturnal Strike abilities make it an absolute aquatic killer. It is a go-to pet for many situations and is worth getting for every serious pet battler.

Advantages of Dread Hatchling:

  • Absolute domination over Aquatic family
  • Heavy-hitting combination of abilities

How to get Dread Hatchling:

  •  Purchase the Warlords of Draenor Collector’s Edition

Unborn Val’kyr

Unborn Val'kyr

Unborn Val’kyr – this beautiful undead lady is a must-have for any serious pet battler. Might take a while to get, but it is worth it. While not being overpowered as she used to be, she is still fun to play and provides some strong cards for the team, such as Curse of Doom and Unholy Ascension, the last one being a great annoyance to foes for a whole 9 rounds. Val’kyr serves you well, even in death.

Advantages of Unborn Val’kyr:

  • Can turn the battle in your favor even in death. Unholy Ascension debuffs all the pets of the opposing team for an additional 25% damage done per hit for a whopping nine rounds. Val’kyr gets the last word.
  • Deals serious damage with unavoidable, uninterruptable DoTs.

How to get Unborn Val’kyr:

  •  Encountered as a wild pet in Northrend. Only one spawns on the entire continent at a time, respawn is fast, about 5 minutes.

If you are among the players who obtained one, you can put his Superbark, to good use – this ability cannot take a foe below 1 HP, which is useful to capture weak wild pets, just be careful not to kill the target with the damage-over-time effects.

Advantages of Molten Corgi:

  • Superbark/Weakening Blow should be used when you’re out collecting wild pets, because you can get them low for capture, without risking overkill.
  • Beauty and utility plus the cutest doggy animation ever

Sunreaver Micro-Sentry

Sunreaver Micro-Sentry

It is a must-have pet for any intermediate pet battler. While many pets have access to Call Lightning ability, Sunreaver Micro-Sentry is the only one to have Fel Immolate at the same time. You can consider him as one of the go-to mechanical Pets, one that successfully shreds the Beasts to pieces.

Advantages of Sunreaver Micro-Sentry:

  • The strong synergy between abilities
  • Good counter against Beasts

How to get Sunreaver Micro-Sentry:

  • Drops from the rare elite Haywire Sunreaver Construct on the Isle of Thunder. The mob roams around the west side of the beach, south of Ihgaluk Crag.

Graves

Graves

Last on our list, but by no means least, Graves is a promotional pet obtained by reaching Level 20 in Heroes of the Storm. This is a very time-consuming task because your account level on HOTS goes up when your characters level up. Graves is an AoE Undead pet. Using Bonestorm or Grave Destruction, you can hit the back row multiple times in a battle, while the Consume Corpse ability also makes him synergize other Undead pets that use Haunt, such as Unborn Val’kyr.

Advantages of Graves:

  • Good AoE abilities
  • Strong against Humanoid teams

How to get Graves:

  • Reach Level 20 in Heroes of the Storm. Your best solution is to level up 20 heroes from level 1 to 2, which is going to take 20 matches. We suggest you play in a team with people against AI.

Mentioning all of the useful pets in one article is an impossible task. For example, to complete different pet-dungeons you will have to level up specific pets chosen for that single task. The main thing about gathering the combat team is to understand why are you bringing a certain pet to the collection. Once you understand this, you will be able to find cheaper and easier to obtain pets with similar abilities that will benefit your team. As for now, having collected at least these pets and leveling them up, you will be able to confidently complete most of the Pet-related events.
