HOME World of Warcraft Say Goodbye to Free Quits WoW Adds Penalty for Abandoning Keys

Blizzard Promises to Mark Players Who Leave Runs

Tired of players ditching your Mythic+ run mid-dungeon? Blizzard is finally stepping in. In an upcoming PTR build, the devs plan to introduce a new penalty system that targets those who constantly leave keys early. Here’s the core idea:

  • Players can vote to officially abandon a run. If everyone agrees, no one takes a hit.
  • But if someone rage-quits or bails without that vote, the game marks them as a Keystone Deserter.
  • These deserters won’t be able to join other Mythic+ groups through the Premade Finder until they finish enough runs cleanly.

Blizzard Promises to Mark Players Who Leave Runs

Blizzard hasn’t rolled this out just yet, but the feature is coming soon to PTR. The goal? Cut down on toxic behavior, protect your time, and stop people from ruining key runs over one wipe.

MYTHIC+:

  • Players can now Vote to Abandon a Mythic+ run after a key is socketed.
  • Players who leave runs before completion, timer end, or a successful Vote to Abandon will eventually be marked as a Keystone Deserter in the Premade Dungeon Finder.
  • Marked players can complete Mythic+ runs without leaving, even if untimed, to bring themselves back into good standing and drop their mark.
  • Developers’ notes: This feature will be available in a later PTR build.

The system also gives leavers a way to redeem themselves — run clean dungeons, clear the mark, and get back in the game. Stay tuned for full details when the next PTR update drops. And if you’re the one leaving after the first pull… maybe think twice next time.
