Blizzard has shared new details about the future of the Cooldown Manager feature in World of Warcraft. Based on player feedback, the developers are working on several updates that aim to improve customization, visibility, and overall utility of this tool.
Cooldown Manager in Future WoW Updates
The Cooldown Manager, first added in Patch 11.1.5, was surprisingly well received by the World of Warcraft community. Now, Blizzard is acting on player feedback and preparing a set of improvements that will make this feature more customizable, responsive, and versatile for all types of gameplay. Here’s what’s coming:
- Advanced Cooldown Settings — You’ll be able to handpick which abilities appear, rearrange them using drag-and-drop, and toggle tooltips or timers as needed.
- Debuff & DoT Tracking — Offensive debuffs like DoTs will be trackable through the Cooldown Manager, with clear visual states indicating uptime, expiration, or pandemic windows.
- Big Defensive Tracking — A new optional frame will let tanks and healers track major external cooldowns like Pain Suppression or Life Cocoon when used on allies.
- Sound Alerts — Players will be able to assign unique sound effects to specific abilities to catch them the moment they become available.
- UI & Profile Tweaks — Expect a better edit mode, ability search tools, unlearned talent tracking, and support for multiple saved profiles across PvE, PvP, and raids.
All of these updates are still in development and may change before release. But Blizzard clearly sees the Cooldown Manager as something worth expanding across all specs and roles.
