Blizzard has officially revealed that a G.I. Joe collaboration is coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 17, but the announcement wasn’t made in the usual way. Instead, the crossover was casually confirmed through a Season 17 infographic shared on social media, so for many fans, it became a surprise.

While most previous collabs were teased with stingers or dedicated blog posts, this one was hidden in plain sight. Most attentive players spotted Genji in a skin that strongly resembles Snake Eyes during the Season 17 trailer. This hint was the only one until Blizzard released the infographic, confirming the crossover without much fanfare.
The community hopes to see skins inspired by classic G.I. Joe characters. We expect Duke, Baroness, or Cobra Commander as Overwatch heroes. Whether those dreams come true remains to be seen.

Interestingly, the same trailer may also hint at another potential crossover, possibly with Nerf, thanks to a brief shot showing a foam football and darts. Blizzard hasn’t confirmed this, but it’s sparked plenty of conversation.
As a bonus reveal, Blizzard also teased Season 18’s upcoming hero: Wuyang. This water-based Support, codenamed Aqua, is expected to begin public testing during Season 17.
