NetEase has announced upcoming enforcement changes for Marvel Rivals that will help to stop AFK farming and artificial hero progression. The developers confirmed that a new Marvel Rivals combat behavior detection system is in development and will actively track players who exploit matches to gain proficiency rewards without participating properly.
According to NetEase, this behavior has become more common after recent changes to the hero proficiency system. Now, the studio needs to take stronger action to protect match quality and competitive integrity.
Marvel Rivals New Combat Behavior Detection Explained
The upcoming system will identify Marvel Rivals players who remain inactive, spam abilities, or avoid real combat while farming hero proficiency points. This behavior is often associated with so-called “lord farming” — a method used to unlock high-tier cosmetic rewards without contributing to team play. NetEase stated that such actions negatively affect teammates and disrupt normal gameplay flow, especially in active matchmaking environments.
Marvel Rivals Penalties for AFK
Players flagged by the new Marvel Rivals detection system may face escalating penalties. The penalty will depend on the severity and frequency of violations. These punishments can include:
- Official warnings;
- Short-term account suspensions;
- Long-term suspensions;
- Permanent account bans.
The developers emphasized that enforcement will focus on repeated or deliberate abuse rather than occasional inactivity. It means that if you actively participate in combat, follow the team, and assist with the take-downs and point control, you are under no threat.
