Bungie has officially delayed its upcoming extraction shooter Marathon, so the previously scheduled September 23 release will not happen. In their latest update to fans, the studio explained it needs more time to bring the game in line with community expectations. A new release date is expected to be shared in fall 2025.
Bungie Pushes Marathon Release
According to Bungie, player feedback from the Alpha test revealed a clear demand for a more intense, immersive experience. The team decided to focus on core gameplay features: pressure-based survival, raid-style endgame, and rich lore. Improvements will also touch nearly every part of the game, including encounter design, reward systems, visuals, and the addition of long-requested features like proximity chat.
This delay isn’t just about polish, it’s a response to what Bungie called “the most important voices: our players.” But with no solid release window yet, some fans are growing skeptical, especially given that the game may not arrive until early 2026.
