home news Diablo IV Diablo 4 Needs War Plans Endgame Changes

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred gave the endgame a big shake-up with War Plans, but one part of the system is already getting pushback. A growing part of the community wants War Plans progress to be account-bound, not locked to each character. Right now, players who roll an alt have to rebuild those upgrade trees from scratch, and that grind is starting to wear thin.

📌 War Plans arrived as part of Lord of Hatred’s endgame overhaul. The system lets players chain activities together and spend Activity Experience in separate trees tied to seven endgame modes. That gives the endgame more structure, though it also means alt characters face the same long climb all over again.

The latest wave of complaints came from a fast-moving Reddit thread where players argued that the current setup discourages making new characters. Some replies called for full account-wide sharing. Others suggested a catch-up system that would speed alts toward the highest War Plans progress already reached on the account. Not everyone agrees, but the request is clearly picking up traction.

The timing makes sense. Lord of Hatred has pulled plenty of players back in, and Diablo 4 hit a new all-time Steam peak of 64,518 concurrent players on May 3, 2026. Now that the first-week hype is cooling off, War Plans look like one of the first big friction points in the new endgame loop.

For now, the only change on the horizon is aimed at co-op, not alt progression. A community manager said War Plans party-play updates are planned around Season 14, including a Party Plan system that would let groups reroll boards to match. That could make group runs smoother, though it still leaves the account-wide question open
