Why Was the Destiny 2 Epic Raid Delayed

In a recent update covering the latest Destiny 2 news, Bungie confirmed that the upcoming Epic Raid, The Desert Perpetual, has been delayed by one week. The new launch date is Saturday, September 27, with the World First Race kicking off at 10:00 AM PT. Contest Mode will remain active until September 29 at 10:00 AM PT.

Why Was the Destiny 2 Epic Raid Delayed?

Bungie explained that the Desert Perpetual raid delay was made to ensure a stable and high-quality experience for all players. The studio wants the raid to launch in the best possible state, giving everyone, from those tackling Contest difficulty to those waiting for normal mode, a smooth start.

What About the Destiny 2 World First Race?

Despite the delay, the World First competition will still take place. However, Bungie mentioned that the rules for teams aiming to claim the title have been updated. To be eligible for Destiny 2 World First, teams must follow these rules:

  • Streaming required: at least 1 team member must stream.
  • Platforms: Twitch or YouTube only.
  • VOD: the stream must be saved as video-on-demand.
  • Overlay use: if hiding parts of the screen, you must use Bungie’s official overlay.
  • No custom blocking: no extra overlays to cover gameplay (even as a joke).
  • Overlay edits: you may add branding or a facecam, but gameplay must remain visible.
  • Optional: if you don’t want to hide anything, just stream normally.
  • No blackout: the streaming player cannot turn off or hide their screen.
  • Audio: in-game audio must be on; voice audio is optional.

All in all, despite the delay, the new raid remains one of the most anticipated updates in Destiny 2. Set a reminder for September 27 so you don’t miss the new Destiny 2 content!
