home news Destiny 2 Bungie Is Back with Destiny 2!

Bungie will bring all content back into Destiny 2, and new games set in the Destiny universe are already in development. The studio now has new leadership and is committed to regaining players’ trust.

Bungie Return

Bungie released an official statement titled “The Next Chapter for Bungie,” in which it announced a major change in direction and a return to actively supporting Destiny. This came after intense pressure from the gaming community, which refused to accept the game’s shutdown.

“Destiny 2 is more than just the content itself. It is a place where players have built memories together, formed lasting friendships, and shared experiences that have stayed with them for years.”

Return of Destiny 2

Bungie acknowledged that removing old content severely undermined player trust. They are beginning a large-scale process to bring back all previously removed story campaigns, locations, and raids.

It’s not just a matter of pressing a button. The developers emphasized that the process will take time. Since the Beyond Light expansion, the game’s engine has changed significantly. They’ll have to rework the lighting, combat mechanics, and enemy AI to ensure the content meets modern standards for quality and stability.

All restored content will be completely free for all Destiny 2 players.

New Games in Bungie’s Universe

After 30 years of developing games, the studio’s plans now extend far beyond Destiny 2. The developers refer to the return of old content as “the first step toward laying the foundation for entirely new stories and games in the Destiny universe.” Although a full-fledged announcement for Destiny 3 has not yet taken place, the franchise has been officially confirmed as the central core of the studio’s long-term future. Following recent reshuffles, layoffs, and under the leadership of the studio’s new head, Porya Torkan, Bungie is attempting to restore its reputation first.

Marathon

They also mentioned their other major project—the shooter Marathon. Josh Deane, Head of Product and General Manager of Marathon, assured fans that Marathon is important to the studio, but it was never intended as a replacement for Destiny, and the team will continue to develop both games in parallel.
