Raven Software has shared its plans to strengthen Call of Duty Warzone competitive aspect in Season 2. The developers are betting on tougher and more skill-based gameplay and promise to bring back Ranked formats. Also, they are testing a new mode for hardcore players.
Call of Duty Warzone key points at a glance:
- Ranked Play: Resurgence returns in Warzone Season 2;
- New Iron Gauntlet mode — an evolution of Iron Trials;
- Focus on skill expression, positioning, and calculated encounters;
- Ranked and Iron Gauntlet work alternately, not in parallel.
CoD Warzone Ranked Is Back
The main change in Warzone Season 2 is the return of Ranked Play: Resurgence, which was previously removed with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Rebirth Island and Haven’s Hollow maps are currently available in Warzone, but a specific map for Ranked in Season 2 has not yet been confirmed. Previously, the ranked mode almost always took place on Rebirth Island.
CoD Warzone Iron Gauntlet Mode
Another major change is that Season 2 will also feature a beta version of the new Warzone Iron Gauntlet mode, inspired by Iron Trials. It is a large map with reworked rules: changed health, loot, and loadout rules, with an emphasis on positioning and thoughtful fights. Important: Iron Gauntlet and Ranked Play: Resurgence will not be active at the same time — Raven Software wants to concentrate players in one competitive format at a time to improve matchmaking and match quality.
📌 More details on Iron Gauntlet rules are expected closer to the launch of Season 2 in February.
