Embark Studios has revealed the first major details for the ARC Raiders Frozen Trails update. The upcoming content drop will introduce a frozen map, new ARC enemies, weapons, and a tougher activity for experienced players. Frozen Trails is currently planned for October, with more information expected closer to release.
The new ARC Raiders map takes players beyond the mountains into a tundra built around a mysterious signal. Raiders will search abandoned homes, villages, research facilities, and an observatory while hunting for loot. The area also includes underground threats, so familiar routes and movement habits may not work as well here.
New ARC Enemies Will Change How Players Move and Fight
Frozen Trails will also expand the ARC roster with several new machines. Embark says these enemies are designed to challenge how players move, fight, and adapt during a run. The lineup should range from smaller troublemakers to a huge machine capable of stopping Raiders in their tracks.
That last detail is still deliberately vague. Embark has not confirmed whether the giant enemy matches threats like the Matriarch or represents something completely different. Either way, the studio wants the new ARC enemies to force players away from comfortable combat patterns.
New High-Level ARC Operation
The biggest endgame feature appears to be a new ARC Operation built for experienced Raiders. Embark describes it as a high-level challenge focused on combat, teamwork, survival, risk, and difficult decisions. Success should depend on more than raw firepower, especially when a squad needs to judge whether a fight is worth taking.
This could give longtime players a stronger reason to return once their usual routes start feeling predictable. A new map alone changes the loot grind, but new enemies and a harder activity can shake up full runs.
