Ubisoft announced Echoes of Central Park, the next expansion for The Division 2. These reveals arrived alongside full details for The Division 2 Year 8 Season 3: Red Horizon, which starts on August 27. Also, Ubisoft has revealed several major additions coming to The Division 2, including crossplay and a new story expansion. The Division 2 crossplay launches in November 2026 and will connect players across every supported platform.
The Division 2 When Year 8 Season 3 Starts
Before Central Park opens, players must deal with the Cleaners in Washington, D.C. Year 8 Season 3: Red Horizon launches on August 27. The Cleaners lost access to their purple flame after Battle for Brooklyn. They now travel to Washington in search of another supply, bringing new activities and Elite Kill Squads with them.
Red Horizon also introduces the Pressure Gauge. Combat actions fill the gauge and provide bonuses through new Active and Passive Modifiers. The Toxic PvE Dark Zone will become a permanent activity. Meanwhile, the new Blackout PvP variant removes normal power restrictions and allows complete builds, including SHD Watch bonuses and Prototype Gear.
Players can also collect the Fafnir Exotic Shotgun and Iron Will Exotic Chest. More named weapons, gear pieces, seasonal rewards, and two Classified Assignments will arrive during the season.
The Division 2 now has a packed schedule ahead. Red Horizon begins the next seasonal chapter, crossplay follows in November, and Echoes of Central Park brings agents back to New York.
The Division 2 Echoes of Central Park Expansion Announced
The Division 2 will return to New York City for its next expansion. Echoes of Central Park finally opens an area that the series has never fully explored. During the outbreak, authorities turned Central Park into a mass burial ground. Years later, nobody knows exactly what remains beyond its gates.
The story begins when Division agents receive a distress call from somewhere inside the park. Rumors also spread across the Upper West Side, pushing the agents to investigate before entering Central Park themselves. Ubisoft describes Echoes of Central Park as a darker chapter where fear becomes another threat. That description points toward a more unsettling atmosphere than the streets of Washington, D.C.
The expansion does not have a release date yet. Ubisoft will hold a dedicated Echoes of Central Park showcase on September 24 at 9:00 AM PT. The presentation should reveal the new area, enemies, activities, and story connections.
How The Division 2 Crossplay Will Work
All players will move to a shared crossplay environment when the feature arrives. Crossplay will remain enabled by default, although players can disable it from the Character Selection screen.
Agents who keep it enabled can match and group with players from every supported platform. Those who turn it off will only encounter users playing on the same system.
Clans will also move into the new crossplay environment. Members from different platforms can join the same clan, while clan capacity will increase from 50 to 100 players. Ubisoft plans to reset the leaderboards when The Division 2 crossplay launches. The leaderboard interface will display each player’s crossplay setting after the update.
The larger matchmaking pool should reduce queue times and make it easier to find groups for older activities. Ubisoft has not confirmed an exact November release date yet. More technical details will arrive closer to launch.
