Onyxian Drake has only 1-2% drop rate, making it a fairly rare mount even 14 years after it came out during the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Unlike many other similarly low drop mounts, Onyxian Drake was never more accessible, having the same low drop chance even when it was just released.

In some way, getting it now even easier than before, since you don’t have to complete the raid attunement and can easily solo Onyxia herself. That being said, the mount remains being a reward only for the luckiest and most patient of the players.

Onyxian Drake mount drops on both Normal and Heroic difficulties of the raid, as well as on both raid sizes. Thus, there’s little difference in what version of the raid to run, unless you care about transmog loot.

How do i get onyxian drake?

You get the Onyxian Drake for defeating Onyxia in Onyxia's Lair raid. The raid is fairly small, pretty much consisting solely of some trash mobs and Onyxia herself, being the only boss in the raid. When the raid just came out, you had to complete a long attunement quest chain just to enter it, but luckily, this is no longer required.

The mount is available on any difficulty and raid size, which is itself easily soloable. All is well, but sadly, the mount has an excruciatingly low drop chance. So while all the steps towards getting it are pretty easy, you’d still require a lot of luck to actually obtain it.
