Jewelcrafting looks pretty great, even compared to other crafting professions! There’s a wide range of items you can craft, many of which have the potential to be great for gold making. Combined with specialization and quality systems, Jewelcrafting is much more varied and fun this time around.

First and foremost, there’s the usual — gems, trinkets, and jewelry. Gems can now offer bonuses for two stats rather than just one, as well as epic gems making a return. The trinkets and necklaces now have unique effects based on the gems you’ve equipped, which offer a wider variety for build customization.

A Tiered Medallion Setting was an excellent investment in the previous expansion — this item lets you add up to three sockets to your necklace based on its quality. Suppose high-quality gems and necklaces prove to be as good as Blizzard promises in Midnight. There may be quite a high demand for such items, especially among the endgame players.

And last but not least, there are also profession gear and reagents that other primary professions will need. Since the tools directly affect the craft’s quality, the starting players will probably seek it out as soon as possible. Reagents are something that is constantly in demand, simply due to their consumable nature.

Not hard, rather somewhat complicated. There’s a vast and diverse range of gems at the Jewelcrafter’s disposal, allowing for a wide variety of craft. But it also means that you have a lot of materials to juggle.

Combined with the profession progression system, you can’t really settle on a small selection of ore and gems to work with. Some players might enjoy this additional item management challenge, but others might prefer a profession that is easier to handle. Can you do Jewelcrafting without Mining?

Of course, at the end of the day, you can choose any profession as your second one as long as you can find an alternative way of obtaining the crafting resources. You can purchase ore from other players for gold, or persuade your guild/friends/alts to supply you with the materials. With the Crafting Order function, you can also level up your profession just by doing the orders for other people.

That being said, having Mining as a second profession is still the most convenient way to always have materials at hand, especially if you prefer to be self-sufficient.
