Vitreous Stone Drake is a rare drop from the Slabhide, second boss of the Stonecore dungeon. Technically, you don’t even have to fight the first boss, Corborus. However, the path to the Slabhde is blocked until Corborus is summoned. And to do that, you have to kill the packs of mobs on your path. The dungeon is pretty linear, so you’ll know exactly where to go and who to kill.
While it’s a bit of a shame that you can’t just run straight to the Slabhide, it still shouldn’t take the high level character more than several minutes to get to him. If you’re a veteran player, chances are you’d just one-hit every mob and boss in the dungeon.
Other than that, there’s nothing else other than praying for better luck. As we already said, the mount is rare, so expect to run this dungeon for quite a while until Slabhide finally drops it.
Vitreous Stone Drake is estimated to have a mere 1% drop rate, if not less. For a mount that came out more than a decade ago, it’s still fairly rare among the players. While you can always get lucky, it’s much more likely that you’ll have to run the Stonecore a few hundred times before the mount finally drops.
Good news on that front. Not only does Vitreous Stone Drake drops from the dungeon, it’s also drops on both heroic and normal difficulties. Running it on Heroic also doesn’t seem to increase your chances for a drop, so it’s much better to just run it on Normal as many times as you want. Due to the cap, you can do only 10 runs of the dungeon per hour, but it’s still better than Heroic cap of one run per day.
The mount drops from Slabhide boss in the Stonecore dungeon, located on the western side of the Temple of Earth, Deepholm, 47, 52. Keep in mind that you need a flying mount to get to the dungeon entrance.
