Released in Patch 7.15, Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) is Final Fantasy XIV's first Chaotic Alliance Raid — a 24-player reimagining of the classic World of Darkness encounter tuned to Savage-level difficulty. Three parties of eight must coordinate tile positioning, light party alignment, and phase transitions across three distinct combat phases. Without a pre-formed group, clearing it through the Party Finder reliably is slow at best. FFXIV Cloud of Darkness Boost from Overgear skips the Party Finder entirely, delivering the run through veteran alliances with consistent execution on every phase.
Every completion awards Clouddark Demimateria I and II — the primary currency for 730 ilvl Clouddark armor, exchanged at Uah'shepya in Solution Nine. Two Demimateria cover head, gloves, or feet pieces; three cover chest or legs. Separately, 99 Demimateria II unlock the Shroud of Darkness mount, and 50 unlock the Modern Aesthetics: A Half Times Two hairstyle. Rare coffer drops — both mounts, the Wisp of Darkness minion, and the hairstyle — bypass the Demimateria route entirely and can land on any clear. FF14 Chaotic Carry from Overgear secures every drop your alliance rolls, with all loot going straight to your character.
Demimateria stacks across multiple runs and is not lost between sessions. Additional Demimateria II is distributed when any player in the group clears for the first time, scaling up proportionally — up to 49 per person when all 24 players are new to the fight. Cloud of Darkness Chaotic Boost from Overgear can be scheduled as a single clear or booked across multiple weeks, with timing confirmed on Discord before each session begins.
