How do you get molten core attunement?

To get the Molten Core attunement the players have to complete the “Attunement to the Core” quest, given by the blood elf NPC Lothos Riftwaker. He is located right inside the Blackrock Mountain, close to the Grinding Quarry entrance. Lothos will ask you to venture into the Blackrock Depths, retrieve the Core Fragment and bring it back to him. Conveniently, the Core lies right beside the portal to the Molten Core so you don’t have to go off the planned path if you were already heading there. Just bring the Core back to Lothos either immediately or after finishing the raid and he’ll open the shortcut.

Does Molten Core require attunement?

Technically, no. You could even argue that it’s not a real attunement, since you don't have to complete the quest to enter the raid. However, completing this “attunement” will make the subsequent visits to the Molten Core much more convenient for you, since you’ll no longer have to run through the entirety of Blackrock Depths to get to the raid.

Where is the attunement to the core?

The attunement quest is located in Blackrock Mountain. You have to speak to the Lothos Riftwaker, who you’ll find right next to the Grinding Quarry entrance. Note that you have to be at least level 55 to get this quest. He is standing in a small room right near the entrance so make sure not to miss him.

When was molten core attunement removed?

The attunement for the Molten Core raid was eventually removed in Patch 5.4.0, during the Mists of Pandaria expansion. So you won’t encounter this quest by playing the retail version of WoW. However, in Classic version of WoW, the quest is available and is very much welcome, saving players at least some time during subsequent raid runs.
