Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake Layout

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake

The Mistwake in Final Fantasy 14 uses a linear structure, common for the story dungeons in the latest patches. The main FFXIV The Mistwake dungeon zones where the encounters happen are:

  • Quan Caverns — the starting area right at the entrance of the dungeon leading to the Electrope Mine.
  • Shattered Lair — the first boss fight arena, it’s the very place where you encounter Treno Catoblepas.
  • Derelict Railway — once you defeat the first boss, head to this area, where you can descend further into the dungeon using railways.
  • Treno Lowlads — this location is placed beneath the railways, you pass it on your way to the next boss while fighting mobs like Zemzeletts and Mistwake Rocks.
  • Treno Thoroughfare — the continuation of the Lowlads that unlock upon killing all mobs on your way and reaching the gates.
  • Darkgate and Overture Plaza — the second boss fight arena where you meet Amadusias.
  • Codetta Quarter — you enter this area after the boss fight, here you once again clear packs of mobs and head to the Main Street, kill all mobs in the area, and open the gates to the Bridge Street. Taking down all mobs and passing through the area will lead you back to the Main Street.
  • Town Round — the third boss fight arena where you encounter Thundergust Griffin.

The Mistwake dungeon in FFXIV does not contain any side paths or alternative routes. Everyone follows the same path, which simplifies navigation and makes Mistwake comfortable for a first run through Duty Finder or Duty Support.

✏️ Remember that there are Treasure Coffers hidden within the dungeon.

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake Bosses

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake Dungeon has only three bosses separated by transitions through different areas of the dungeon. All boss encounters take place in one location, allowing you to focus on mechanics and positioning. Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake Boss List:

  • Treno Catoblepas;
  • Amadusias;
  • Thundergust Griffin.

Each battle combines several types of mechanics: AoE patterns, arena control, movement checks, and positioning requirements. As you progress through the dungeon, the difficulty gradually increases, preparing players for Patch 7.4 content, including raids and trials. If you are not sure you are ready to deal with the boss mechanics, ask our Coaches for assistance and skill improvement.

Final Fantasy 14 Treno Catoblepas

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake

Final Fantasy 14 Treno Catoblepas is the first major encounter in the dungeon.  Treno Catoblepas casts round AoEs around the fighting area that you need to avoid. When he casts Bedeveling Light, hide behind the rocks to avoid the incoming damage.

Tanks should cast a shield during Thunder, while the rest of the party continues to deal damage from behind the boss. Treno Catoblepas can cast Petribreath — a frontal spell that you should avoid by running behind the boss.

All the boss mechanics repeat multiple times during the encounter. Once you understand their rotation and avoid being hit by any means, you are ready to take Treno Catoblepas down.

Final Fantasy 14 Amadusias

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake

Final Fantasy 14 Amadusias is the second Mistwake dungeon boss, a horse-looking creature that will overwhelm you with countless mechanics. When the Thunderclap Concerto cast starts, avoid energy orbs on the wings of the Amadusias. At the end of the cast, the boss lands a massive damage wave on the area. The best way to survive this phase is standing behind the boss.

Bio II spreads the green orbs around the boss fight arena. You should try not to touch the orbs during the Galloping Thunder — red straight zones will appear on the ground dealing damage to players who stay within the zone. After that, Amadusias starts to teleport around the arena, dealing massive damage.

Green orbs turn into a time bomb that damages whatever trapping in the circle beneath them. After this phase, if you see a circle spawning on you and your allies, spread around the arena. During the Thunder III cast, gather in the area marked with an arrow.

Final Fantasy 14 Thundergust Griffin

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake

Final Fantasy 14 Thundergust Griffin welcomes you with a short intro upon reaching the gates to the Town Round. This boss charges up the Thunderspark ability, which explodes and deals AoE damage. During the cast of High Volts, you need to spread circles around the map, but try to avoid boss-spawn circles.

After this phase, energy spheres appear around the perimeter of the circle. After a few seconds, the boss starts Thundering Roar casts, and you’ll see zones spawn from one side of the arena to the other. You need to escape from these zones before the skill deals damage. Tanks should cast shield during Golden Talons skill.

Fulgurous Fall is the Griffin’s most destructive and impressive spell. During the cast, avoid the danger zone in front of the boss, and then the new zone perpendicular to it. At this point, the energy spheres will begin to deal AoE damage, after which danger zones will appear on the ground, from which you need to run away. That’s the main FFXIV Thundergust Griffin mechanics loop, and it will repeat multiple times.

Final Fantasy 14 The Mistwake Duty Support

FFXIV The Mistwake fully supports Duty Support, allowing you to complete dungeons solo with an NPC party. This is especially important for players who prefer story-driven gameplay without queues or who play outside of peak online hours. NPCs respond correctly to basic mechanics, making this mode suitable for your first encounter with a dungeon.

But the best thing about FFXIV Duty Support in Patch 7.4 is that being defeated during the Duty Support dungeon bosses applies a new stack-based buff on you. It means that every time you retry and fail, you get a bit stronger. The mechanic aims at motivating players to complete the full run.
