HOME Path of Exile Currency Path of Exile How to Get More Currency

The most needed, but really not the most difficult part of Path of Exile is PoE farming currency. Currency is required not only for exchanging things, but also for crafting things. In this guide we will look at how to properly get as many orbs as possible at any stage of the game. For more details about currency and orbs types check out our guide for Path of Exile Orbs and Currency

Path of Exile Tips for Making More Currency

First of all, you should choose between Money Farming build and usual. First one is targeted on getting money from the maps and needs some budget to start, while any other build is made for playing and can be a league starter.

MF builds are different every league and being based on different strategies, we won’t even take a look at them, but you can pick one in our Path of Exile Best Builds Tier List. The following tips work for any build and can be used any time.

And if you don’t want to waste time from the start of the current PoE Affliction League, you can buy any type of orbs on Overgear, even PoE Exalted Orbs.

Rush to the Maps

Once a new league starts, your first priority is to get through the acts as quickly as possible and start running the maps, and here’s why:

  • Itemlevel is bigger than on acts — people will buy a half of the items you gain;
  • Maps can be improved via cartographer’s chisels, orbs of transmutation, alteration orbs and orbs of alchemy. This will slightly increase the drop chance of the high-value items. So, don’t be shy to use orbs on the maps, because profit is always more than investments;
  • Yellow and red maps can be sold at a fairly high price;
  • 4-5-6-linked items are more likely to be met, and they are usually very valuable on the market;
  • You will be able to grind even more content: Harvest, Blight, Delve, e.t.c

And don’t forget to use Path of Exile Awakened Sextant to add or reroll modifiers on your maps.

Don’t Give up on the Little Things

An extra 1-2 chaos orbs at the start of the league is useful, no doubt. Don’t try to be the lowest priced on the market. Chances are that there is a price fixer. Set the price about 20% above the lowest price, and if it hasn’t sold, reduce it slowly. If you get a really valuable item it’s better to overprice at first and then slowly lower it down.

However, you can create a fixed price tab of a couple chaos orbs and drop different items (that cost about that much) in there as you go through acts and maps. Pretty nice if you manage to sell a couple of even cheap items for a run, extra is never too much.

Use the Item Filter

Yes, if you’re an experienced player, you’ll call such advice predictable and miserable, but! Remember how important it is to set up the loot filter correctly – so that, for example, at the beginning of the league you have 3-4-linked items highlighted, 3-linked items with all socket colors, and so on.

So choose your loot filter properly. It should fit the stage of the game and help, but not hinder gameplay. One of the best loot filters is usually considered Filterblade, because it is flexible and easy to customize, but you can search for other loot filters on the Internet. The usual preset will be this:

  • White maps: Strict Filter;
  • Towards the end of Yellow Maps: Very Strict Filter;
  • Red maps: Uber Strict Filter.

Use Vendor Recipes

In the previous tip, we already mentioned 3-linked items with all socket colors. It’s time to explain why.

In Path of Exile you can collect certain items or combinations of items and sell them to vendors. In return, vendors will give you more valuable currency than usual or enhanced weapons and armor. Here is a table of the best PoE vendor recipes to make it clearer for you.

Use Passives in Atlas Tree

If you’ve gotten to the maps and have already started actively going through them, you may have noticed that in addition to your character’s Passive Tree, you also have an Atlas Passive Tree. This tree, like your character, should be used wisely.

Try Different Content

PoE is on 3.22 league now, there is already a bunch of content waiting for you. Our personal recommendation is to try Delve and Blight, and here is why:

  • Delve is one of the most enjoyable and fun things to do in the entire game. Many players have been mining for years, for many leagues, rarely taking time out of their day to get some sulfite. Moreover, there are separate special builds for Delve. From here you can get tons of useful loot (fossils, resonators), which is used to craft items. Some of it you can keep and the rest is guaranteed to be sold, so you will never be at a disadvantage and your time will not be wasted.
  • As for Blight, here gameplay can be both active – jump yourself and kill all the mobs, and passive – to put on a special strategy towers and not even pay attention to what is happening. With Blight you are guaranteed to get a lot of useful items for sale, as well as currency. Oil the blighted maps (here is a Blight Helper for you). The situation here is the same as with regular maps – the benefits always outweigh the costs (if you go through the whole map, of course).

Tip: If you want to stand around and do nothing, then put ONLY Scout towers. Their efficiency is the highest among the other towers. You don’t even need to reinforce them. You can only go out occasionally to help kill bosses and that’s it.

Sell Uniques Used for Leveling

Once you’ve passed the acts, there’s no need to use unique items that only work well at low levels and give resistances exclusively, for example. In the early days of the league, such items are very expensive, and you should take advantage of them, believe us.

Bulk Selling

For example, you started actively farming Delve or Haste, and you regularly have items like fossils or resonators. Do not rush to sell them 1-2 pieces at a time. Unlike in real life, in PoE wholesale is much more expensive than retail. You should save up at least 10 pieces of the item that you are going to sell and then set the price about 1.5-2 times more than you were going to.

Also, there is a strategy with stacked decks, for example. You can buy 1c each and then sell them in bulk for a divine.

Use Crafting Table Recipes

This applies to changing the colors in an object, changing the number of sockets or links. More often than not, you will spend a lot more game currency if you just poke an item with it than if you use the already prepared solution on the crafting table in the hideout. By the way, on Overgear you can buy any amount of PoE Chaos Orbs, needed for crafting.

Also, you can craft Life or resistances on a ring or amulet if you are going to sell it. This way it can get under the filters in the store, and your jewelry will be seen by more people, which means that there is a higher probability that they will buy it from you.

Buy Low Level Contracts

Once you get your first rogue markers, go to the Heist zone and buy the contracts, because they will update when you level up, and you can run them fast for easy Path of Exile currency even before you reach maps.

Sell Influenced Items

It can be hard for new players or players who reach maps for too long, but for other experienced players this tip works perfectly. Some influenced bases can be very expensive, so you won’t even need to craft something over it.

For example, Two-Toned boots influenced by Hunter. That’s the best base in the game, and if you can roll Tailwind on it, you will sell them for an overwhelming price. And you also can use Mirror of Kalandra to replicate non-unique items, by the way.

Remember about essences

Some essences can be sold almost instantly (like Remnants of Corruption). The reason is because in the first days some crafters use special strategies to level up or to become rich, and they usually need these essences, not to mention that essences make crafting more easy in most cases.

Try to Flip Currency

Remember about bulk selling? You can try to flip your currency. Just buy any currency and sell it in bulk. It is always a good strategy, and you will find lots of people who do it without getting out of their hideouts. A good point there is to use the poe.ninja to control the Path of Exile Economy and keep abreast about it.
