Divine Orbs are part of various Path of Exile currency systems, that can be useful in crafting, enchantment, skills boosting, stat values restructuring, e.t.c. Sometimes it can be hard to learn the purpose of each of them, especially if you just doing your first steps in PoE. We already try to help you figure it out in our PoE Orbs and Currency System guide, so now let’s look at the Divine Orb in greater detail, that have some changes to become even more important in a new league.
PoE currencies
Despite the fact that in PoE we have dozens of currencies, not each of them is so commonly used and garner as much attention as certain representatives.
For example, Chaos Orb can re-roll random modifiers on your rare items, but it is so popular not just because of that. In most cases, these orbs use as a kind of “gold standard”, a currency that players exchange on pieces of gear or any items they are interested in. So almost all items in the game and even currency can be measured by Chaos Orbs.
Another popular currency Exalted Orb enhances rare items with new random affixes, and its value is estimated at dozens of Chaos Orbs. And with the help of Mirror of Kalandra, you can duplicate any non-unique item you want, which also costs very much.
Last, but not least important currency is Path of Exile Divine Orb, which now can be counted as the main currency in the whole game.
How do Divine Orbs work?
The primary purpose of Divine Orbs is re-roll of all random explicit modifiers on pieces of gear. It means absolutely random process that you can’t control to get the best possible combination of values, but it’s still an excellent option to get more suitable characteristics.
Important to know that you can use Divine Orb only on magic, rare, or unique items. But there are specific details that affect the result:
- If you use Divine Orb on magic or rare items, the affix will change within the same tier (values will be re-rolled in the tier measures);
- If you want to re-roll affixes of a legacy variant of a unique item with the help of Divine Orb, affixes can re-roll to the new actual range of values, but in that case, you can’t return old values of affix.
Generally, you should keep in mind that only properties with a spread in values can be changed. And one more important detail: Divine Orb modifies values within the affix without changing the affix itself. For example, if you have the Lackered affix (+11-13 Armor), you can’t get +200 Armor after re-roll because this value applies to the Plate affix (+139-322 Armor).
Finally, Divine Orbs don’t affect the new-added modifiers.

Divine Orbs changes in Lake of Kalandra league
Divine Orbs in PoE has added years ago, but now it become very important because of some PoE changes:
- At first, now you can’t get it from vendors, so you have a pretty small pool of options (a 6-link vendor recipe that in the past rewarded us with Divine Orbs now can grant you just 20 Orbs of Fusing);
- Secondly, the drop rate of Divine Orbs was equated to Exalted Orbs (about 0.055%).
As it was said in patch notes, PoE developers like Divine Orbs and want to make it more important, so now some crafting metamods that in the past required Exalted Orbs will cost Divine Orbs.
So now, the unique effect mixes with low drop chance and more engagement in crafting. All these made PoE Divine Orb price grow up and approved it as currency number one right now.
Divine Orbs acquisition
First of all, you can get this currency during your daily game routines like killing mobs, looting chests, destructible containers, and even Arcanist’s Strongboxes. You can find random Divine Orb literally everywhere, but you saw this totally heartbreaking drop rate chance above.
Another option is several recipes you can get, that allow you to create some Divine Orbs:
- The Sephirot (10x Divine Orbs)
- Emperor’s Luck (5x random currency)
- Mirror of Kalandra (1x Divine Orb and other currencies, but it counted as a downgrade recipe)
- The Void (random divination card set exchange)
How to use Divine Orb
Of course, re-rolling random explicit modifiers are one of the most prominent and valuable applications. But you should keep in mind that it’s better to use Divine Orbs in the case when you have a large range in modifier values or randomized mods if you want to get more benefits from this process. If an item has only one very important modifier value and all other looks useless, you’ll risk too much using this currency.
At the same time, you also have other options to spend Divine Orbs because this currency, as we said before, is one of the main parts of the in-game economy:
- As the “gold standard”, Divine Orbs can be spent in trading operations with high-value items between players. Even chase items like Headhunter, Mageblood, or well-rolled Watcher’s Eye can be bought for this currency. Not any player has an opportunity to craft those high-end items, so Chaos Orbs and rather Divine Orbs will help you with this;
- Another good way is meta-crafting through Crafting Bench, which allows you to add a modifier to your equipment or modify sockets and links. Or maybe you’re interested in blocking some mods from being rolled? Finally, you can use this to allow specific items to have multiple crafted mods. In that case, you will spend Divine Orbs directly to get an upgrade, or you can exchange Divine Orb to Chaos Orb or Exalted Orb to get additional options;
- Also, you can use Divine Orb to craft Divine Vessel, which increases the power of bosses but provides players with the best rewards in return.
We hope, our guide will help you learn all you need to know about the main PoE currency. Don’t forget to rate this article, if it was helpful for you.
