Destiny 2’s annual, much-loved, and perhaps most anticipated event, a Halloween Fest, known as the Festival of the Lost, kicks off this year on October, 18 and runs for three weeks until November 8, 2022.
This guide will show you what kind of creepy challenges Bungie prepared for the Guardians this year, and more about how to get those familiar from previous years’ Spectral Pages, turn them into Manifested Pages, earn the new Ghost Writer title via Event Challenges, where to get the new Mechabre Arc sniper rifle, and of course build the mech-themed armor set that looks like classic old-school anime armor if you know what we mean.
How to start the Festival of the Lost 2022
To dive into the holiday atmosphere, just go up to the Tower and take the introductory quest from Eva Levante, called Gone but Not Forgotten. This quest will allow you to unlock the Haunted Lost Sectors. To do this, get the Festival of the Lost Mask from Eva Levante, put it on, talk to granny again and check your Director – it will show the available Haunted Lost Sectors.
From then on you must wear a mask while performing any activity. By completing any seasonal activity, running Strikes, Crucible and Gambit matches you will receive Spectral Pages, which can be transformed into Manifested Pages in Haunted Lost Sectors. The mechanics of transforming and swapping pages are familiar to us from Solstice 2022 and introduced at the same time by Event Card.

How to do Haunted Lost Sectors
As you advance through the Haunted Lost Sectors with the other Guardians and fight spooky versions of the enemies, you will see an area with Summoning Rituals, which will activate every few seconds.
Once you stand inside them, you’ll summon a mini-boss, Headless One, for each one you kill you can transform one Spectral Page into a Manifested Page.
Festival of the Lost Rewards
Now go back to the Tower and turn in your accumulated Manifested Pages to the Book of the Forgotten to get new lore pages and worthy rewards. Obviously, the more Manifested Pages you turn into the Book of the Forgotten, the better your chance of getting a reward. Last season’s weapons from Festival of the Lost, such as Horror’s Least and Braytech Werewolf rifles, may fall out when you complete the Haunted Lost Sectors. There’s also a chance to get last year’s Jurassic Green pulse rifle and the new Mechabre Arc sniper rifle. This new Mechabre Arc is good for PvE when dropped with Voltshot Perk and extremely good for PvP with its Origin Perk ‘Search Party’: “This weapon is granted faster aim down sights speed and movement speed while aiming down sights when no allies are near”. All these delights and other goodies like Legendary gear can be obtained from the chests at the end of Haunted Lost Sectors, and luckily you won’t need a Cipher Decoder this year.
As for armor, this year, chosen by voting and winning by a narrow margin, we got the Team Mech armor set in the Gundam style. You can purchase it only at the Eververse store for about $15 or 6,000 Bright Dust per set for one of your characters.
In addition to Spectral and Manifested Pages for any activity, you can earn Candy and spend them at Eva Levante for masks and bags filled with weapons to increase your chances of a good roll.
Festival of the Lost masks list
The masks are designed in the form of popular Halloween characters and bosses from Destiny 2. Some of them are new, and some of them have come back to us from past seasons. Either way, you can wear your old masks or try to collect one or all 8 new ones:
- Blueberry Mask – complete the Lost but not Forgotten quest;
- Bread Mash – complete activities in the Haunted Sector playlist;
- Caiatl Mask – defeat combatants with Arc energy;
- Riven Mask – complete ritual activities, including Strikes, Crucible matches, and Gambit matches;
- Savathun Mask – complete 35 Haunted Sectors;
- Telesto Mask – earn 17,500 Candy from activities;
- Fynch Mask – 300 Silver (available week 9) or 1,200 Bright Dust (available week 11);
- Star Horse Mask – 300 Silver (available week 10) or 1,200 Bright Dust (available week 11).
Festival of the Lost Event Challenges list
As was already the case with Solstice 2022, Event Triumphs Bungie has been replaced with Event Challenges. As well naturally was added an Event Card, which you can upgrade for about $10 of Silver. However, it only makes sense if you’re a cosmetics fan – then you can purchase a special shader, a candy apple Ghost, and of course the Black Cat Sparrow by spending the Event Tickets you get for completing the activities.
But to unlock the Ghost Writer seal and title, you don’t need to update the Event Card.
For that, you’ll have to complete all 17 Event Challenges:
