WoW Forever leveling brings the classic 1–60 journey back, but Azeroth is no longer exactly the same. New quests, zones, dungeons, class changes, and the Legacy system all affect how you level your character. This WoW Forever Leveling Guide covers the fastest leveling methods, recommended builds, zones, routes, dungeons, and other ways to reach level 60. To learn how to make leveling even easier, read our WoW Forever Best Addons guide.
WoW Forever Leveling Key Takeaways:
- WoW Forever has a level cap of 60, and levelling is a key element of a character’s progression.
- Questing is the main method of leveling, which is supplemented by over 1,000 quests available in Azeroth.
- Zones do not scale with your character’s level, and therefore, level-appropriate levelling zones can be found all throughout the process.
- Dungeons complement questing well, especially if you gather their quests before diving into them.
- There are nine new dungeons available on varying levels, along with the Classic Dungeons.
- Some of the new leveling zones include Zephras Isle and Riverglades, apart from zones that have been updated in the Classic Azeroth.
- Best levelling specs vary among the classes, including Feral Druid, Beast Mastery Hunter, and Frost Mage.
How to Level Up in WoW Forever
WoW Forever uses a level 60 cap and keeps leveling as a major part of the game rather than a short trip to endgame. Characters progress through quests, enemy kills, dungeons, exploration, and other activities spread across Azeroth.
The zones in WoW Forever do not change according to the character’s level as it increases. You may find yourself struggling to complete missions because you are battling enemies who are several levels higher than you when entering zones for the first time. On the other hand, remaining in the same zone for too long will also result in quests and mobs being less rewarding in terms of progression.
In WoW Forever, the original Leveling content has been expanded instead of being replaced. This is achieved through 1,000 new quests added in Azeroth, and the addition of new zones and dungeons that complement the existing 1 to 60 journey. Also, our team can help you with fast leveling if you want to skip the grind or have an alt.
Fastest Way to Level in WoW Forever
The fastest way to level in WoW Forever is to do both quests and queue for dungeons, while minimizing travel time. Follow level-appropriate quest hubs and use dungeons when their quests fit naturally into your current route. For faster WoW Forever leveling:
- Pick up and complete multiple quests at once, then turn them in together.
- Run dungeons with their respective quests for more experience and helpful equipment.
- Do not engage in repeated dungeon farming after all their quests have been completed.
- Work on nearby zones and do not travel throughout all of Azeroth for activities.
- Unlock flight paths whenever you see Flight Masters in your direction of travel.
- Get rested experience by logging out at inns or in capital cities.
Questing is still the most reliable method for a WoW Forever 1-60 leveling guide. Dungeons, Rested Experience, and the subsequent Legacy Bonuses all complement questing well but don’t necessarily replace it. Additionally, getting a Starter Pack can significantly speed up your leveling routine.
WoW Forever Best Leveling Builds
The best leveling build for WoW Forever should have a good source of damage, minimal downtime, and skills to help your character move from one enemy to another. A great raid spec may not necessarily make a good leveling spec because of differences in gameplay mechanics.
| Class | Best Leveling Spec | Current Beta Build | Key Talents / Tools |
|---|---|---|---|
| Druid | Feral | 0/21/0 | Feral Swiftness, Feral Charge, Predatory Strikes, Leader of the Pack |
| Hunter | Beast Mastery | 21/0/0 | Focused Fire, Pathfinding, Bestial Swiftness, Summon Hawk |
| Mage | Frost | 0/0/21 | Frost control and kiting talents |
| Paladin | Retribution | 0/0/21 | Holy Strike, Retribution talents, baseline Consecration |
| Priest | Shadow | 2/0/19 | Shadow Word: Pain, Mind Blast, Mind Flay |
| Rogue | Combat | 0/21/0 | Riposte, Blade Flurry |

| Warrior | Protection | 0/0/21 | Shield Specialization, Master of Defense, Revenge, Shield Slam |
The builds above are based on current WoW Forever Beta leveling recommendations through level 30. Full 1–60 talent paths cannot be tested yet, so these recommendations may expand as higher Beta levels become available. You can choose the class to level up based on the current WoW Forever Best DPS tier lists.
WoW Forever Leveling Zones 1–60
The WoW Forever leveling zones have specific levels for each zone; therefore, you cannot play the game in the same zone from the start till the end of leveling. You can switch from Classic zones to Forever zones depending on the level of your enemies. The table below shows the WoW Forever leveling zones from 1 to 60:
| Level | Alliance Zones | Horde Zones | Notable Dungeons |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil | Durotar, Mulgore, Tirisfal Glades | — |
| 1–12 | Zephras Isle (Skyborne) | Zephras Isle (Skyborne) | — |
| 10–20 | Westfall, Loch Modan, Darkshore | The Barrens, Silverpine Forest | Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Wailing Caverns |
| 15–25 | Redridge Mountains | The Barrens, Stonetalon Mountains | The Deadmines, Wailing Caverns |
| 20–30 | Duskwood, Wetlands, Ashenvale | Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Stonetalon Mountains | Excavation Site: Wetlands, Shadowfang Keep |
| 25–35 | Thousand Needles | Thousand Needles | City of Dalaran, Scarlet Monastery |
| 30–40 | Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale | Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale | Razorfen Kraul, Scarlet Monastery |
| 35–45 | Riverglades, Badlands, Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows | Riverglades, Badlands, Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows | The Drowned City, Krol’dok Stronghold |
| 40–50 | Tanaris, Feralas, The Hinterlands | Tanaris, Feralas, The Hinterlands | Zul’Farrak, Razorfen Downs, Uldaman |
| 45–55 | Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands, Azshara | Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands, Azshara | Alcaz Prison, Maraudon |

| 50–60 | Western Plaguelands, Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring, Burning Steppes, Silithus | Western Plaguelands, Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring, Burning Steppes, Silithus | Blackrock Depths, Blackmaw Hold, Shaper’s Terrace |
| 60 | Mount Hyjal | Mount Hyjal | Level 60 content |
📌 These ranges are not a strict checklist. You normally need to switch between several zones because one area may not provide enough XP for an entire level bracket.
WoW Forever Leveling Route 1–60
The best WoW Forever leveling route changes a lot through the first 30 levels. The Alliance and the Horde are separated in their starting zones, but they both eventually get access to the contested zones later. Because of that, we split the Alliance and Horde leveling routes into two paths when it comes to levels 1-30, while bringing them together in levels 30-60.
WoW Forever Alliance Leveling Route 1–30
The WoW Forever Alliance leveling route depends on your race during the first levels. These paths gradually merge as characters move toward the level 20–30 zones.
| Levels | Recommended Route | Dungeons |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | Elwynn Forest — Humans | — |
| Dun Morogh — Dwarves and Gnomes | — | |
| Teldrassil — Night Elves | — | |
| 10–20 | Westfall, Loch Modan, Darkshore, Redridge Mountains | Hall of Thanes, The Deadmines |
| 20–30 | Duskwood, Wetlands, Ashenvale | Excavation Site: Wetlands |
Westfall, Loch Modan, and Darkshore cover similar early levels, so you can switch zones if your current quests become difficult or inconvenient.
Wetlands is particularly useful around levels 24–29 because you can combine outdoor questing with Excavation Site: Wetlands and its dungeon quests.
Alliance Skyborne begin on Zephras Isle from levels 1–12. After leaving the island, they can join the regular Alliance leveling route. With Hourly Drive, however, you can skip the zone faster and join the rest of the players in Azeroth open world.
WoW Forever Horde Leveling Route 1–30
The WoW Forever Horde leveling route depends on your race during the early levels. Most paths begin merging around The Barrens before opening into shared zones closer to level 30.
| Levels | Recommended Route | Dungeons |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | Durotar — Orcs and Trolls | — |
| Mulgore — Tauren | — | |
| Tirisfal Glades — Undead | — | |
| 10–20 | The Barrens, Silverpine Forest, Stonetalon Mountains | Wailing Caverns, Ruins of Lordaeron |
| 20–30 | Hillsbrad Foothills, Stonetalon Mountains, Ashenvale | Shadowfang Keep |
The Barrens is the main early route for Orcs, Trolls, and Tauren, while Undead naturally progress through Silverpine Forest into Hillsbrad Foothills. Shadowfang Keep also fits well into the Undead route because of its proximity to Silverpine.
Horde Skyborne follow a separate opening path through Zephras Isle from levels 1–12. After leaving the island, they can join the regular Horde route through The Barrens or Silverpine Forest.
WoW Forever Leveling Route 30–60
After reaching WoW Forever level 30, Alliance and Horde follow the same path for further leveling through areas shared by both sides and contested areas. Thus, for WoW Forever 30-60 leveling, follow the route provided, moving from one zone to another as you find quests difficult or scattered.
| Levels | Recommended Zones | Dungeons |
|---|---|---|
| 30–40 | Thousand Needles, Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale | Scarlet Monastery, The Drowned City |
| 35–45 | Riverglades, Badlands, Dustwallow Marsh | Krol’dok Stronghold |
| 40–50 | Tanaris, Feralas, The Hinterlands | Zul’Farrak, Razorfen Downs, Uldaman |
| 50–55 | Un’Goro Crater, Felwood, Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands, Azshara | Alcaz Prison, Sunken Temple |
| 55–60 | Western Plaguelands, Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring, Burning Steppes, Silithus | Blackrock Depths, Blackmaw Hold, Shaper’s Terrace |
Riverglades becomes available around level 35 and provides a major new leveling option through level 45. You can mix its quests with other zones instead of completing every available chain.
For the final levels, rotate between the 50–60 zones based on available quests and travel distance. At level 60, normal leveling ends and Mount Hyjal becomes part of WoW Forever endgame progression. This is where the help of our raiders can come in handy to complete the Hyjal Summit easily.
WoW Forever Dungeon Leveling
The WoW Forever dungeon leveling will be more efficient if you combine dungeon farming and questing. The dungeons offer experience, loot, and quests, but that does not mean that dungeon farming is the best long-lasting leveling option. The following dungeons can be included in your WoW Forever leveling guide:
| Level | Dungeon | Best Time to Run |
|---|---|---|
| 13–18 | Hall of Thanes | After collecting available dungeon quests |
| 15–20 | Ruins of Lordaeron | During late starting-zone progression |
| 17–26 | The Deadmines | Alliance leveling around Westfall |
| 17–24 | Wailing Caverns | Horde leveling around The Barrens |
| 22–30 | Shadowfang Keep | Silverpine and Hillsbrad progression |
| 24–29 | Excavation Site: Wetlands | While leveling through Wetlands |
| 28–33 | City of Dalaran | Around the level 30 transition |
| 30–40 | Scarlet Monastery | During early shared-zone progression |
| 35–40 | The Drowned City | Around the level 35–40 route |
| 40–45 | Krol’dok Stronghold | While questing through Riverglades |
| 44–54 | Zul’Farrak | While leveling in Tanaris |
| 48–53 | Alcaz Prison | During the late 40s and early 50s |
| 50–60 | Blackrock Depths | During the final leveling brackets |
| 55–60 | Blackmaw Hold | Late-game leveling |
| 58–60 | Shaper’s Terrace | Final levels before 60 |
Your first dungeon run in WoW Forever is usually the most valuable because you can complete several dungeon quests alongside the normal XP and gear drops. Collect these quests before traveling to the entrance whenever possible.
✏️ Dungeon groups must account for travel time. If an instance sits far away from your current questing zone, continuing nearby quests can be faster than crossing Azeroth for a single run.
WoW Forever Rested XP
The WoW Forever Rested XP grants additional experience for slaying opponents if your character rests before it. This can be especially useful if you are leveling up gradually in the game by doing it across several sessions. Here is how the main WoW Forever Rested XP sources and bonuses work:
| Source | Rested XP Effect |
|---|---|
| Inns and Capitals | Builds Rested XP faster while your character is logged out |
| Normal Logout | Rested XP still accumulates, but at a slower rate |
| Well Rested Legacy Perk | Increases Rested XP accumulation and maximum storage by up to 20% |
| Camping | Certain profession camp features can provide stored Rested XP |
The Rested XP buff is mainly useful for gaining more experience from killing mobs, rather than giving you a boost in all XP-related activities. This buff can be used effectively when you have quests that involve lots of mobs.
📌 While leveling up, you do not have to plan your leveling according to the Rested XP buff. Just log out at an inn or a capital city and use the saved buff while leveling up.
WoW Forever Legacy Leveling
WoW Forever Legacy allows you to make it easier to level your characters in the future using account-wide progressions. Normally, Legacy is unlocked by most players once they reach level 25. After unlocking it, WoW Forever Legacy Points can be used on many different progressions such as:
| Legacy Perk | Leveling Benefit |
|---|---|
| Well Rested | Increases Rested XP accumulation and storage |
| Talented | Gives access to the first talent point earlier |
| Frequent Flier | Reduces flight costs and increases flight-path speed |
| Thrill of Adventure | Restores Health and Mana after eligible enemy kills |
| Field Medic | Improves access to bandage-related recovery |
| Death-related perks | Reduces downtime after dying |
“Talented” has one of the most noticeable effects on early leveling. With enough ranks, a new character can receive their first talent point as early as level 5 instead of level 10.A
Additionally, you can earn Legacy Points by leveling different classes. Characters award progression milestones at levels 25, 45, and 60, giving alt leveling a long-term account benefit beyond creating another max-level character. But not only Legacy Points come in handy during leveling. At level 40, you can Unlock Mounts, and our team can help you with this task. It’ll allow you to travel way faster and easier.
WoW Forever Alt Leveling
Alt leveling in WoW Forever gets simpler when your account earns the Legacy progression. The Adventure perks cut down on a number of factors that can hinder an alt during the early levels, like travel time, recovery time, and talent cooldowns. The benefits of WoW Forever leveling alts include:
- Earlier talent points through Talented.
- More Rested XP through Well Rested.
- Faster flight paths through Frequent Flier.
- Health and Mana recovery through Thrill of Adventure.
- Existing gold, bags, consumables, and profession materials from your main character.
Multiple characters are not required to get all the character power possible in Legacy. But extra levels from other classes will earn you Legacy Points at levels 25, 45, and 60, so an alt is useful in account development.
The alt will pretty much take the same WoW Forever leveling zones and 1-60 route as your first character. The difference is that there will be less traveling and recovery time due to Legacy bonuses and resources.
WoW Forever Leveling with Professions
Professions for WoW Forever are definitely worth leveling together with your WoW character since they will give you gear, materials, Camping benefits, and Merchant’s Favor. You don’t have to pause questing and grind your professions since much of the grinding can be done passively by simply traversing leveling zones. There are several ways that professions can help you in leveling your WoW Forever:
- Gather nearby materials — collect herbs, ore, leather, and other resources while completing quests, but skip long farming detours.
- Craft leveling gear — new profession recipes can provide useful equipment upgrades before level 60.
- Use Camping bonuses — each profession unlocks unique camp features, including options that help with recovery and Rested XP.
- Complete Waylaid Crates — fill these open-world supply containers with requested materials to earn Merchant’s Favor.
- Save useful materials — keeping common profession resources makes future Waylaid Crates easier to complete without dedicated farming.
You can also purchase missing materials instead of gathering everything yourself. This is useful when a Waylaid Crate requires resources outside your chosen professions. However, our Professions Kits can help you out with any required resources.
