How to Choose Build at the League Start
Sure we should speak about choosing a starting build. First of all, you should understand what defines a build as a starter.
Starter builds are the type of builds you use to level through acts, clear 14-16 maps and farm currency for your future progression build. Of course, with some improvements and adjustments Starter build can become Endgame build but you need lots of currency to make it happen. You can use our Build Improvement and don’t waste your time and money.
Often buildcrafters usually note what type of the build you are currently browsing. Generally starter builds have low requirements for leveling gear, pre-mapping gear and socket dependence. You can also check out popular builds on PoE.Ninja.
But your build choice should be based on your preferences. If you like playing certain skills, you like certain unique items or you like any type of game mechanics, don’t hesitate to use it. Your build can lack survivability, damage, or something else, but if you are enjoying the game, it is worth it.
Either way if you have no preferences playing meta builds will make your life easier. Meta-based builds are often better in terms of damage or survivability. Tips for Choosing a Starter Build
- Starting a class with various meta builds is a good idea. You can always rebuild into another build easier.
- Playing Scion gives you the opportunity to respec into a completely different build without leveling another character.
- If you found a new build for yourself, check its numbers in the Path of Building app. Buildcrafters often offer not so many item choices. It’ll be hard to reach those numbers at the league start.
- If the build is based on a certain unique item, you should search its price on the start of the previous League. Keep in mind that at start you will be very lucky if you can get at least 40-50 chaos orbs till the Act 10 completion.
PoE Learn League Mechanics
Every new league comes with a new League Mechanic. Besides, League mechanic from the previous Season will be removed into Standard league. Based on this you should understand whether your build performs well there. If not, just ignore it. Of course, the PoE new League brings lots of profits, but if you struggle there, it will just be a waste of your time.
Where are the Trials in PoE
On your way through the Acts of new League you’ll need to complete the Trials of Ascendancy to access the Labyrinth. During your leveling you can enter 3 types of Labyrinth: Normal Labyrinth, Cruel Labyrinth and Merciless Labyrinth.
- For the Normal Labyrinth you need to complete Acts in the following locations: The Lower Prison in Act 1, The Crypt Level 1 in Act 1, The Chamber of Sins Level 2 in Act 2, The Crematorium in Act 3, The Catacombs in Act 3, and The Imperial Gardens in Act 3.
- For the Cruel Labyrinth you need to complete Acts in the following locations: The Prison in Act 6, The Crypt in Act 7, and The Chamber of Sins Level 2 in Act 7.
- For the Merciless Labyrinth you need to complete Acts in the following locations: The Bath House in Act 8, The Tunnel in Act 9, The Ossuary in Act 10.
Not to mention, after 5 and 10 Acts your resistance cap will be lowered. Keep this in mind, you can use vendor recipes and crafting bench to fix this issue. Also, you might need to max up your cold resistances before Merveil in Act 1.
What Loot Filter Should I Use Poe?
There are lots of items that drops on your way in Path of Exile. Most of them are completely trash. To find the best items you should set up your loot filter. It affects your game quality of life greatly. Neversink loot filters are flexible and pretty friendly in tunning. There are a lot of options you can choose. Don’t forget to change the volume of the sound, it can surprise you at the start.
Can you Play Poe without Stash?
One more quality of life feature in the game is your stash. You can definitely play without any stash tabs, but it won’t be as comfortable as with them, and it will impose certain limitations. As from the start you can have only 4 pages with 144 grid spaces. More stash pages you can buy via in-game store. If you don’t want to spend your money on the game, of course, you don’t have to do this. But it will make your life way easier.
First of all, to place your items for sale you will need a premium stash tab. Also, there will be lots of currency you will need later, and it will take up a lot of space. Not to mention, special types of currency, such as fossils, oils, catalysts etc. Note: you don’t need a premium stash tab to buy items from other players.
If you decide to make your life easier, here is the list of tabs you may be interested in:
- Currency stash tab. Allows you stack currency items up to 5000. Greatly save your space in stash.
- Premium stash tab. You will need at least one to trade up your items to other players.
- Blight stash tab. If you are planning to farm blight maps, you will need extra space for such type of items. And, it’ll be easier to find them in your stash.
- Fragments stash tab. Used for containing various amounts of different map fragments, scarabs, splitters, breachstones etc.
- Delve tab. If you are interested in Delve mechanics, you might buy this tab. Contains 2 bonus item slots.
- Map tab. Allows you to stack your maps in one place. The best feature of this tab is that you don’t need to sort the maps yourself.
- Essence tab. Very useful tab if you are planning to farm Essences. Contain bonus item slot and 4 slots for miscellaneous currency items.
Vendor Recipes for League Start
One of the unique features in the Path of Exile is its Vendor Recipe System. There are plenty of useful vendor recipes that help you on your way. Some of them are pretty helpful at the very start of a league, others good at the endgame content.
Vendor Crafting
Vendor crafting recipes will help you to get certain types of items at the start of the game. Here is the simple rule: sockets are more important than stats. For example, white item with 4 links will be better in 99% situations than an item with 3 sockets and a bunch of stats.

These vendor crafting recipes will be very handy at the PoE League start. When you climb through the acts, you should gather all Quicksilver Flasks. Don’t forget about the belts if you are planning to use vendor crafting recipes.
Not to mention, when you get to the 60 level location you should use Chaos Recipe. Collecting a set of rare unidentified items 60-74 ilvl, including two-handed Weapon, or 2 one-handed, or one-handed plus shield, or 2 shields, 2 rings, amulet, belt, boots, gloves, chest piece, and helmet, will award you 2 chaos orbs. Or you can just use our PoE Currency service.
Also, you can use Gemcutter’s Prism recipe. For this one, you will need 1 gem of 20% quality or several gems with 40% quality combined. For example: 6 items of 19%, 13%, 15%, 9%, 17% and 7% quality would add up to 80%, but would not actually grant 2 of the resulting quality items, only 1. This is because the 2 individual combinations do not add up to 40 each.

During the walk through the Acts, you will complete a decent amount of quests with various amounts of rewards. Here is the list of quests you may be interested in.

Also, in Act 3 you can find A Fixture of Fate quest from Siosa where you can buy skill gems that are not presented by other vendors. It is easy to miss this quest. In The Imperial Gardens you can find a split location on the map. Explore the whole location and you can find the entrance to the Library.
