4.9How PvP Works in WoW Forever
There are two major types of PvP encounters that you can engage in when playing WoW Forever — World PvP and Battlegrounds.
- World PvP takes place when opponents from other factions happen to encounter each other while doing quests, traveling around, or contesting for certain areas.
- Battlegrounds are organized instanced PvP encounters where teams are given various objectives besides kill-streaking.
Your rule set affects only the frequency of PvP encounters you have outdoors. It does not affect your ability to participate in Battlegrounds. The combat keeps its Classic-style pacing, but WoW Forever changes talents, racial abilities, and gear choices. An old Classic build is a starting point, not a finished PvP setup here.
How to Start PvP in WoW Forever
Our suggested route keeps your first PvP sessions focused on objectives and useful rewards. Choose your WoW Forever ruleset with friends first, then add new Battlegrounds as you level.
- Choose your ruleset and faction. Pick PvP for regular open-world clashes, or Normal if you prefer to opt into them. Make sure your friends choose the same ruleset.
- Queue for Warsong Gulch at level 10. Get a Battlemaster and learn when to defend, escort the flag carrier, or get back the flag for your team.
- Add more maps as you level. Arathi Basin opens at level 20, Darkspear Islands at 30, and Alterac Valley at 51 in current beta data.
- Set an Honor purchase goal. See if the item requires Marks from a certain Battleground.
- Follow rank and reputation progress. They offer rewards that are not accessible via purchasing equipment with Honor.
WoW Forever World PvP
World PvP in WoW Forever happens during ordinary travel and leveling. The PvP ruleset makes contested territory dangerous around quest hubs and gathering spots. On Normal, you choose when to engage outdoors. Roleplaying offers a separate community ruleset.
You can queue for Battlegrounds on Normal, PvP, or Roleplaying. Matches may draw players from different rulesets, but you cannot form a cross-ruleset group with friends. Agree on a ruleset before creating characters together.
Choosing factions is very important under the PvP rulesets. Once you have created a character for Alliance, you cannot create a character for Horde under this ruleset. This rule works vice versa too. Other faction balance measures may also restrict the creation of new characters from one side.
WoW Forever Battlegrounds
Battlegrounds шт WoW Forever includes three familiar Classic maps and one new map. Each has a different team size and objective, so you can switch between flag runs, base control, and larger battles. The entry levels below reflect the WoW Forever September 2026 beta and may change at launch.

One can enter the queue by using either the Battlemaster in a capital city or the Battleground entry portal. The winner is awarded three Marks of Honor for that map, while a loser gets one. Note that some PvP items require you to have those Marks plus Honor.
It is advisable to learn about the objectives first before going for kills. Defending the base, retrieving the flag, or assisting in a push could be more important than winning a solo duel. Forever balances the Honor rewards to make other maps besides AV viable.

The Darkspear Islands Battleground
The Darkspear Islands Battleground takes 15 players per faction to islands off Kalimdor. Four bases generate points, while a central flag scores when carried to a controlled base. Holding territory and responding to an enemy push both matter here.
The map also introduces two opposing reputations. Alliance players work with the Theramore Expeditionary Force, while Horde players earn standing with the Darkspear Raiders. Current beta rewards include trinkets, jewelry, weapons, armor pieces, and tabards at different reputation levels.
Treat Darkspear Islands as a second progression path alongside your rank. If you want its faction gear, queue for the map and build reputation while earning Honor and Marks.

WoW Forever Honor System
The Honor system in WoW Forever is based on Honor Points, which function as PvP currency for spending. Honor is accumulated when playing Battlegrounds, World PvP, and other PvP content. With Honor Points, you buy gear, weapons, consumables, and other items from the PvP vendors in Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
Honor doesn’t boost your PvP Rank. Spending it won’t lower your Rank Points or hinder your progression in the seasonal tiering system. The maximum number of Honor a character can accumulate in the current beta version is 15,000.
How to Earn Honor in WoW Forever
Battlegrounds constitute the primary means of getting Honor through repeatable methods. Complete objectives and win, since winning provides more Honor than losing. PvP world and PvP quests constitute other sources.
The Battleground Marks are an independent currency required for some PvP items. Both the Honor and Marks costs should be considered when farming. Unlike the initial Classic system, your rank doesn’t depend on others’ weekly results. The Rank Points don’t have a decay, so you won’t lose any progress if you miss a week.
How to Earn Rank Points in WoW Forever
Battlegrounds, World PvP, and PvP tasks award Rank Points in the current beta. Gadgetzan also offers PvP tasks connected to the ranking track. A weekly cap limits the highest available rank. The current beta allows Rank 3 during week one and Rank 14 from week ten. Reaching Rank 14 requires 24,750 total Rank Points.
PvP rank progress resets between seasons or content cycles. Each new track provides another set of ranks and rewards to pursue. The weekly cap turns higher ranks into a multi-week goal. WoW Forever Field of Honor and Legacy Points
Field of Honor is the PvP Season’s Journey associated with the Legacy System, and week 4, week 7, and week 10 Quests in this Journey earn Legacy Challenge Points.
At launch, PvP may grant up to 12 Legacy Points on an Account-wide basis, where five are obtained by reaching Rank milestones, four from Exalted Battleground reputations, and three from Field of Honor Quests. The Resourcefulness perk for Great Honor boosts Honor gained through PvP
WoW Forever PvP Gear
The WoW Forever PvP set is an alternative set acquired using Honor and Battlegrounds Mark. The Rare PvP armor can be equipped at level 55 without the need for PvP Rank. Items can be purchased solely using Honor, and some require the Battlegrounds Mark from one of the Battlegrounds.
Acquiring higher ranks enables players to purchase more items in the PvP vendor. Ranks 8-10 and 12-13 enable the purchase of the Emboldened Seal for different armor slots. The seals enable rare items to become Elite.
We recommend buying items that enhance your existing equipment set instead of saving all your currencies for Rank 14. It could be useful in many PvP sessions.
