4.9WoW Forever Tank Tier List
To choose the best tank in WoW Forever, you should know that a good tank has decent mitigation, single-target and AoE threat, defensive cooldowns, utility, and overall good performance. The WoW Forever tank rankings below compare Protection Paladin, Protection Warrior, and Feral Druid in Bear Form. Protection Paladin currently leads the WoW Forever Tank Tier List, followed by Protection Warrior and Feral Druid.
| Tier | WoW Forever Tank Specs |
|---|---|
| S | Protection Paladin |
| A | Protection Warrior |
| B | Feral Druid |
All three WoW Forever tanks are worth trying, though. They differ in their playstyle, and even being in B Tier doesn’t make a tank “bad”; it just means that you need to plan your actions better and rely on your healer and DPS. Protection Paladin currently stands out as the best tank in WoW Forever overall, while Warrior and Feral remain useful alternatives. You can easily Level Up all three classes with our professional team and see which tank is the best for you.
📌 Since level 60 testing remains limited, the ranking focuses on each spec’s complete PvE toolkit rather than damage alone.
S Tier
S Tier contains the best WoW Forever tank in our current beta ranking. This spec combines reliable threat, strong defensive tools, and useful group support, with no major weaknesses in its core tanking kit.
Protection Paladin
Protection Paladin in WoW Forever finally has the tools that its Classic version lacked, making it our current S Tier tank. Seal of Fury lets Judgement taunt enemies, while Consecration provides reliable threat against groups. Improved Mana recovery also supports longer fights without forcing Protection to stop using its core abilities. Paladin Blessings and defensive utility add even more value in raids and dungeons.
A Tier
A Tier WoW Forever tank specs remain strong choices for almost any PvE group. They offer reliable survivability and threat but currently fall slightly behind the complete package available to S Tier.
Protection Warrior
Protection Warrior is a good shield tank in WoW Forever that provides decent single-target threat along with great defensive cooldowns. The Shield Slam provides increased threat, and the Protection tree talents increase Rage gain and lower ability costs. The Thunder Clap skill can also be considered useful for tanking since it helps in pulling multiple enemies.
With decent Pre-raid Gear, this spec can perform almost on the same level as the top-tier tank of the current patch. If you want to get geared fast, our team is ready to help you out.
B Tier
B Tier does not mean that a WoW Forever tank spec cannot handle PvE content. Feral can tank effectively, but its current defensive package has more limitations than Paladin or Warrior.
Feral Druid
Feral Druid becomes significantly more efficient at Bear Form in WoW Forever thanks to Mangle, Lacerate, Maul, and Swipe abilities. Berserk ability can remove the cooldown of Mangle and allow it to hit three enemies simultaneously, providing a very good window for short AoE threat generation. Bear Form also offers great movement capability, Mark of the Wild, and allows the druid to easily change between tanking and dealing damage.
WoW Forever Best Tank for Beginners
The Protection Warrior is by far the most beginner-friendly WoW Forever tank due to its simplistic relationship between threat production, shield, and defensive abilities. The class teaches players the fundamental loop of tanking in a very simplistic way — holding enemies, taking care of the damage taken, and using Rage on appropriate abilities. Increased Rage production and ease of use of key abilities reduce punishment during mistakes.
Best WoW Forever Tank for Raids
WoW Forever raid tanking requires solid mitigation, boss threat, and defensive abilities to protect against mechanics. Here’s how to choose the best tank for raids in WoW Forever:
- Protection Paladin — offers reliable taunts, solid threat, defenses, and Paladin buffs.
- Protection Warrior — delivers dependable shield-based mitigation, solid boss threat, and dependable defenses in high-threat situations.
- Feral Druid — offers great health, mobility, and threat generation, but the defensive kit leaves something to be desired.
Protection Paladin is our current best WoW Forever tank for raids, as it resolves most of the issues that the spec had in Classic. Protection Warrior is also a very competitive alternative to consider.
Best WoW Forever Tank for Dungeons
The best dungeon tanks in WoW Forever should have AoE threat, survivability, crowd control, and repeatable packs of enemies. Dungeon tanking is especially ideal for the Holy damage and group utility of the Protection Paladin.
- Protection Paladin — uses Consecration for consistent AoE threat, while Judgment is a taunt on enemies who break away from the pack.
- Protection Warrior — uses Thunder Clap, Revenge, and more consistent threat generation, combined with solid shield defense.
- Feral Druid — Swipe for consistent AoE and Berserk-enhanced Mangle for higher burst threat on multiple enemies.
Overall, Protection Paladin is the best dungeon tank in WoW Forever. The area threat seems ideally suited for pulling multiple enemies, while Blessings add additional utility for the rest of the run if things go awry.
Best WoW Forever Solo Tank
Protection Paladin stands out as the most suitable solo tank for WoW Forever based on its durability, healing, Holy damage, and threat generation on multiple targets. Consecration helps in making it easy to handle packs of enemies, while the use of Paladin abilities to defend and heal reduces downtime between pulls. Seal of Fury and the upgraded Protection kit also make it convenient to take down tougher enemies without a whole group.
