WoW Forever Alchemy is a primary crafting profession that turns herbs into potions, elixirs, flasks, oils, and transmutes. Players use its consumables during both leveling and raiding. WoW Forever release adds 69 new Alchemy recipes, a set of camp objects, and recipes bought with Merchant’s Favor. This guide explains where to train Alchemy in WoW Forever and which professions pair with it. It also shows how to level Alchemy from 1 to 300 with an exact materials list and which recipes are the most valuable at level 60.
WoW Forever Alchemy Key Takeaways:
- WoW Forever Alchemy goes up to 300 skill, and Kylanna Windwhisper teaches the Artisan rank in Feralas, Rogvar in Swamp of Sorrows, or Master Mycologist Shurome in Emerald Sanctuary.
- Leveling Alchemy from 1 to 300 takes around 400 crafts, and Herbalism with some Fishing covers most of the materials.
- Healing Potions are now a First Aid recipe, while Alchemy keeps the Discolored Healing Potion line and gets new Mender’s Potion, Spellblasting Potion, and Frenzy Potion lines.
- 28 Alchemy recipes are sold for Merchant’s Favor, including Elixir of the Grizzly at 300 skill.
- Four new flasks, such as Flask of Natural Swiftness, add 60 Stamina plus a bonus that only works in Mount Hyjal, Hyjal Summit, and the Barrow Deeps.
WoW Forever Alchemy Overview
WoW Forever Alchemy produces consumables for every role, from early armor elixirs to raid flasks that last 2 hours and persist through death. Most recipes need only herbs, a vial, and a few seconds of casting, so you can craft them anywhere. The exceptions are transmutes, which need a Philosopher’s Stone, and a few recipes that can only be made next to a Fermenter or an Alchemy Laboratory.
Alchemy in WoW Forever is worth leveling alongside your character, especially if you also pick up Herbalism. Early elixirs help with your first dungeon runs, while mana potions reduce downtime between pulls. Gathering herbs as you quest also saves you from buying entire stacks on the Auction House later.
What Changed for Alchemy in WoW Forever
Alchemy changes in WoW Forever start with healing. The plain Healing Potion line, from Minor up to Major Healing Potion, is now crafted with First Aid and uses spices in place of most herbs. In return, Alchemists get the Discolored Healing Potion line. Each of these potions restores more Health than a regular potion of the same level, although you then suffer 75% of that amount over time. The other changes are listed below:
- New combat potions: Mender’s Potion adds 31 Spell Healing, Spellblasting Potion adds 16 Spell Damage, and Frenzy Potion adds 28 Attack Power for 30 sec. Each of them has six ranks from skill 30 to 290.
- New flasks: Flask of Natural Accuracy, Flask of Natural Aggression, Flask of Natural Precision, and Flask of Natural Swiftness require 300 skill and new herbs such as Death Lotus, Demonsage, and Marefoil.
- New transmute: Transmute: Legionite turns a Heavy Thorium Bar and a Fel Crystal into a Legionite Bar, with the same cooldown of almost two days as Transmute: Arcanite.
- Merchant’s Favor recipes: 28 recipes are bought from trade camp vendors. At 300 Alchemy, you can purchase Alchemy Certification for 1,000 Merchant’s Favor. It unlocks the account-wide “the Alchemist” title, although each character needs 300 Alchemy to display it.
In total, Alchemy has 178 recipes in WoW Forever, and 69 of them did not exist in Classic. By the way, the Discolored Healing Potion recipes come from special trainers: Odd Child for the Alliance and Apothecary Renferrel for the Horde.
Alchemy Camp Objects in WoW Forever
Alchemy camp objects in WoW Forever are placed next to a Campfire and give a buff to everyone who sits nearby. Each object includes the effect of the previous one, so a Fermenter also works as a Mana Well. The table below shows all three WoW Forever Alchemy camp objects:
| Camp Object | Skill | Recipe Source | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mana Well | 20 | Alchemy trainer | Mana regeneration for players sitting nearby |
| Fermenter | 140 | Drop from Rath’mael in Ruins of Lordaeron | Mana Well effect, allows crafting certain reagents |
| Alchemy Laboratory | 300 | TBA | Mana Well effect, required for advanced recipes |
The Mana Well is cheap to craft, since it needs one Peacebloom and one Empty Vial. An Alchemy Laboratory costs more, as it needs a Lich’s Index Finger, a Crystal Vial, and two Dreamfoil.

How to Learn Alchemy in WoW Forever
You can learn Alchemy in WoW Forever from a trainer in any capital city, and the first rank is also taught in several starting villages. Higher ranks need both skill and character level.
WoW Forever Alchemy Ranks
Here are the Alchemy ranks in WoW Forever and their requirements:
| Rank | Max Skill | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | No level requirement |
| Journeyman | 150 | 50 skill, level 10 |
| Expert | 225 | 125 skill, level 20 |
| Artisan | 300 | 200 skill, level 35 |
WoW Forever Alchemy Trainers
The trainers below teach each Alchemy rank in WoW Forever. Apprentice trainers are listed only for the main cities and a few nearby villages, since every race also has one close to its starting zone:
| Rank | Alliance | Horde | Neutral |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | Tel’Athir (Stormwind City), Vosur Brakthel (Ironforge), Milla Fairancora (Darnassus), Alchemist Mallory (Goldshire) | Whuut (Orgrimmar), Kray (Thunder Bluff), Doctor Martin Felben (Undercity), Carolai Anise (Brill) | Nyassa Swiftdraught (Shen’dar Village, Zephras Isle) |
| Journeyman | Lilyssia Nightbreeze (Stormwind City), Tally Berryfizz (Ironforge), Kylanna (Ashenvale) | Yelmak (Orgrimmar), Bena Winterhoof (Thunder Bluff), Doctor Marsh (Undercity), Serge Hinott (Tarren Mill) | Jaxin Chong (Booty Bay) |
| Expert | Ainethil (Darnassus), Linzy Blackbolt (Dalaran, Alterac Mountains) | Doctor Herbert Halsey (Undercity) | None |
| Artisan | Kylanna Windwhisper (Feathermoon Stronghold, Feralas) | Rogvar (Stonard, Swamp of Sorrows) | Master Mycologist Shurome (Emerald Sanctuary) |
Artisan Alchemy requires a level 35 character on top of 200 skill, so low-level Alchemists need to gain character levels before they can train it. If your Alchemist is still far from that level, our WoW Forever Hourly Driving can get the character there while you focus on gathering herbs for the next steps or help you with any other task.
Best Professions to Pair with Alchemy in WoW Forever
The best profession to pair with Alchemy in WoW Forever is Herbalism, because nearly every Alchemy recipe uses herbs as its main reagent. Leveling Alchemy is expensive when every Peacebloom and Kingsblood comes from the Auction House, while an Herbalist collects most of them during normal questing. Below you can see how other professions fit WoW Forever Alchemy:
| Profession | Why It Fits Alchemy |
|---|---|
| Herbalism | Covers almost all herbs for leveling and for flasks |
| Fishing | Provides Oily Blackmouth, Firefin Snapper, and Stonescale Eel for oils, and it does not take a primary profession slot |
| Mining | Supplies Thorium Bars and Heavy Thorium Bars for Transmute: Arcanite and Transmute: Legionite |
| First Aid | Uses the same vials and some of the same herbs for Healing Potions |
Fishing is very helpful for an Alchemist, as the leveling route below needs 102 Firefin Snapper, 62 Oily Blackmouth, and 34 Stonescale Eel. No racial bonus affects Alchemy in WoW Forever, so every race and class can take it. In case you would rather skip the gathering part, our WoW Forever Herbalism service raises your Herbalism to 300 and opens every herb in the world, Black Lotus included.
Making Gold with Alchemy in WoW Forever
Making gold with Alchemy in WoW Forever relies on transmutes and raid consumables. Transmute: Arcanite turns a Thorium Bar and an Arcane Crystal into an Arcanite Bar, which Blacksmiths and Engineers need for their best recipes. In the same way, Transmute: Legionite uses a Heavy Thorium Bar and a Fel Crystal. Both transmutes have a cooldown of roughly 47 hours. Before choosing which bar to craft, compare the value of Arcanite and Legionite against their reagent costs on your server.
Consumables are the second source of Alchemy income, as raiders use flasks and elixirs every week. Flask demand is tied to Mount Hyjal, Hyjal Summit, and the Barrow Deeps, because the Natural flasks give their extra bonus only in those zones. Cheap leveling elixirs sell well in the first weeks of the season, while the price of common herbs falls as more players reach 300 Herbalism.
Crafting your own consumables can also cut raid expenses, especially when flask prices climb. Still, check Auction House prices before using expensive herbs. Sometimes selling the reagents brings more gold than crafting the finished potion.
More ways to earn gold are covered in our WoW Forever How to Make Gold Guide.
WoW Forever Alchemy Leveling 1-300
WoW Forever Alchemy leveling from 1 to 300 takes around 400 crafts with the route below, and the exact number depends on your luck with skill-ups. A recipe gives a point every time it is orange, often while it is yellow, and rarely once it turns green. The Working Overtime Legacy perk raises the chance of a skill-up by up to 20%, while Dedicated Study adds one point to your lowest profession once per 23 hours.
WoW Forever Alchemy Materials List
The Alchemy materials list for WoW Forever covers the whole route, and it is split at 225 skill because the later herbs come from level 40+ zones. Vials are always sold by trade supply vendors, while everything else is gathered, fished, looted, or bought from other players:
| Material | 1-225 | 225-300 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Empty Vial | 202 | None | Vendor |
| Leaded Vial | 72 | 60 | Vendor |
| Crystal Vial | None | 58 | Vendor |
| Peacebloom | 86 | None | Herbalism |
| Silverleaf | 65 | None | Herbalism |
| Mageroyal | 25 | None | Herbalism |
| Briarthorn | 8 | None | Herbalism |
| Swiftthistle | 30 | None | Herbalism |
| Kingsblood | 52 | None | Herbalism |
| Liferoot | 20 | 26 | Herbalism |
| Stranglekelp | 20 | 26 | Herbalism |
| Arthas’ Tears | None | 14 | Herbalism |
| Gromsblood | None | 10 | Herbalism |
| Sungrass | None | 34 | Herbalism |
| Dreamfoil | None | 15 | Herbalism |
| Icecap | None | 10 | Herbalism |
| Oily Blackmouth | 62 | None | Fishing |
| Firefin Snapper | 102 | None | Fishing |
| Stonescale Eel | None | 34 | Fishing |
| Murloc Eye | 19 | None | Murlocs |
| Large Fang | 22 | None | Beasts |
These are average amounts, so we advise buying or farming about 10% more. If you would rather skip the farming, our WoW Forever Professions Kits deliver the full set of materials for a crafting profession. Each kit also includes a step-by-step crafting guide, so you can reach 300 by following its steps.
WoW Forever Alchemy 1-300 Route
The Alchemy 1-300 route in WoW Forever uses trainer recipes for most steps and four recipes from vendors. Here is the full WoW Forever Alchemy leveling route:
Keep every Blackmouth Oil, Fire Oil, and Stonescale Oil you make, since the next steps use them as reagents. Keep the Stonescale Oil you craft between 250 and 260 Alchemy. Each craft produces three oils, so 34 crafts provide enough for the next step.
You’ll need 68 Stonescale Oil to make 34 Elixirs of Greater Defense, with some left over. Vendor recipes such as Great Rage Potion and Nature Protection Potion are sold in limited stock, so buy them early in case another Alchemist buys them before you.
Magnus Frostwake sells the Major Mana Potion recipe in Caer Darrow, Western Plaguelands. If he isn’t visible, you’ll need Spectral Essence from the relevant quest chain. Check this requirement before planning your final five skill points.
Reaching 300 also takes a lot of gold for herbs and fish if you don’t gather them yourself. Our WoW Forever Alchemy service brings your skill to 300, allowing you to craft your own raid flasks, elixirs, and Arcanite Bars right away.
WoW Forever Best Alchemy Recipes
The best Alchemy recipes in WoW Forever are flasks, transmutes, and the new combat potions, since raiders buy them every week. Flasks last 2 hours, persist through death, and only one flask can be active at a time. Here are the most valuable WoW Forever Alchemy recipes at level 60:
- Classic flasks: Flask of the Titans adds 1,200 maximum Health, Flask of Distilled Wisdom adds 2,000 maximum Mana, and Flask of Supreme Power adds up to 150 spell damage. Flask of Chromatic Resistance gives 25 to every resistance. Each of these flasks needs one Black Lotus.
- Natural flasks: Flask of Natural Accuracy (5% Hit), Flask of Natural Aggression (4% Critical Strike), Flask of Natural Precision (5% lower chance to be dodged or parried), and Flask of Natural Swiftness (5% Haste) all give 60 Stamina. Their second bonus only works in Mount Hyjal, Hyjal Summit, and the Barrow Deeps. They use Death Lotus and an Imbued Vial, which only Alchemy and Herbalism suppliers sell.
- Elixirs: Elixir of the Grizzly adds 25 Strength and 2% critical strike chance for 30 min, which makes it a good choice for melee players.
- Combat potions: The top ranks of Mender’s Potion, Spellblasting Potion, and Frenzy Potion give a short burst of power for boss pulls. Potion of Beast Slaying adds 180 Attack Power against Beasts for 5 min.
- Transmutes: Transmute: Arcanite and Transmute: Legionite need a Philosopher’s Stone and can be used once in almost two days.
The recipe sources for the four new flasks and the Alchemy Laboratory have not been listed yet, so look for them in raids and world drops at level 60. Natural flasks give their full value only inside Mount Hyjal, Hyjal Summit, and the Barrow Deeps. Our WoW Forever Hyjal Summit run clears all 13 bosses on the first reset and gives you 3 items for your main spec.
WoW Forever Merchant’s Favor Alchemy Recipes
Merchant’s Favor Alchemy recipes in WoW Forever are sold by Nina Surefire of the Azeroth Commerce Authority for the Alliance. Horde players buy them from Apothecary Durelle of Durotar Supply and Logistics. You earn Merchant’s Favor by filling Waylaid supply crates and turning them in at the trade camp. The price of a recipe depends on its tier:
| Merchant’s Favor | Reputation | Skill | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| 45 | None | 65-140 | Mender’s Potion, Spellblasting Potion, Frenzy Potion |
| 120 | Friendly | 165-245 | Greater Mageblood Elixir, Elixir of Greater Fortitude, Dragonfire Potion |
| 180 | Honored | 250-285 | Elixir of the Whale, Elixir of Sages, Major Mender’s Potion |

Alchemy Legacy Perks in WoW Forever
Alchemy Legacy perks in WoW Forever speed up skill gains, and the profession also gives Legacy Points through three challenges. You get one point for reaching 150, 225, and 300 Alchemy skill for the first time on your account, so a single Artisan Alchemist earns three Legacy Points. Two Legacy perks affect Alchemy:
- Working Overtime: it raises the chance to gain a skill point from any primary, secondary, or class tradeskill by 4% per rank, so all 5 ranks give 20%.
- Dedicated Study: it adds 1 skill point to your lowest primary or secondary profession once every 23 hours. Once all five professions are at 300, it gives 2 to 4 random Elemental Essences.
