Home World of Warcraft: Classic WoW Classic Complete World Buffs & Consumables Guide

Introduction

Greetings, traveler! We would love to throw light on the quite exclusive and thus rather interesting subject in World of Warcraft: Classic – the World Buffs.

Classic has been released already and everyone may spend some time in the game to see the differences between two versions, and those differences are numerous. The LFG option that usually allows finding any group in no time is absent in Classic – the only way to go to a Dungeon of your choice is to yell in the chat. There is only one difficulty level of Dungeons and Raids – no Heroics, Mythics, and especially no seasonal Affixes at all. What’s more, you will not find a many-tier Achievement system as we have in the retail version. Actually, there are no Achievements at all!

A wingside spectator may think that the game has nothing entertaining in it – everything is too difficult, boring, and not friendly. But these are exactly the things that attract so many players. World of Warcraft: Classic isn’t about rushing and automatic actions, it is about thinking before doing, about making decisions and acting together.

The subject under today’s discussion is a perfect example of consistency of acts, of teamwork, and of importance of a social component, which was so zealously discussed everywhere and by everyone.

World Buffs Basics

There are two major types of buffs in World of Warcraft: personal buffs, such as Mark of the Wild for Druids or Blessing of Might for Paladins and so-called World Buffs, the requirements for which should be fulfilled first. And sometimes it is not very easy. World Buffs have powerful stats increasing indexes, which makes them a top willing thing to obtain as each of them strengthens the raid immensely. A well-dressed raid-party may defeat the bosses without World buffs but they are the absolute must-have in case you want to compete on the TPS/DPS/HPS meters. However, be ready for hard and very fast teamwork, because they require a lot of coordination and patience amongst members of your guild and even other guilds, allowing a Faction to work together and stack as many buffs as possible. The most powerful World Buffs are activated whenever a Player of a certain Faction turns in a Head of a concrete Boss, which are: Head of Rend Blackhand, Head of Onyxia, Head of Nefarian, and Heart of Hakkar. When these quest items are turned in, all Players in the area it was turned in will get a special buff, lasting either one or two hours.

These buffs may be gathered in several zones across Azeroth, depending, usually, on the location, where the specific Boss Lair is positioned on.

This is the shortlist of the most powerful and useful World Buffs:

  • Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer. Increases the critical chance of spells by 10%, melee and ranged by 5%, and grants 140 attack power (AP). 120 Minutes duration;
  • Songflower Serenade. +15 to all stats, +5% to Spell/Melee/Ranged Crit. Lasts for 60 Minutes;
  • Resist Fire. +83 to Fire Resistance. Lasts for 60 Minutes;
  • Warchief’s Blessing. +300 hit points (HP), +15% to Melee Haste, +10 mana regeneration every 5 Seconds (MP5). Lasts for 60 Minutes (Horde only);
  • DM North Buffs (DM Tribute). +15% of Max HP, +200 AP, +3% of Spell Crit. 120 Minutes duration;
  • Sayge’s Fortunes (may be obtained only during the Darkmoon Faire event). Choose between +10% Damage/+10% Agility, Intellect, Spirit, Stamina or Strength/+10% armor/+25 magic resist. 120 Minutes duration;
  • Spirit of Zandalar. +10% to Movement Speed, +15% Stats. Lasts for 120 Minutes;
  • Lordaeron’s Blessing Effect (DND). +5% of Max HP. Lasts for 30 Minutes;
  • Traces of Silithyst. +5% Damage. Lasts for 30 Minutes.

And now we will talk about each and every one of these buffs in detail. Let’s go!

Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer

To obtain this Buff you should kill Onyxia or Nefarian first, and then bring special Items Head of Onyxia or Head of Nefarian to either Orgrimmar or Stormwind. Both of these Items start a Quest, requiring the Player to turn the head into a high ranking member of their faction Eitrigg in Orgrimmar for the Horde or Grand Admiral Jes-Tereth in Stormwind for the Alliance. After that, all players located in (or nearby) the capital cities will get this buff. Players may also choose one piece of armor as an additional reward for the completion of these quests.

Note: both Items have a 100% drop, even if the description says the opposite.

Songflower Serenade

Complete the Quest Cleansing Felwood in Felwood given by a Tauren named Maybess Riverbreeze for the Horde representatives or by a Night Elf named Arathandris Silversky for the Alliance. Accept and complete a repeatable Quest according to your main profession type. There may be the following types of this Quest:

Salve via HuntingCollect 6 Corrupted Soul ShardDrops from creatures.
Salve via MiningCollect 4 Tainted VitriolMined from Mining Nodes.
Salve via GatheringCollect 4 Fel CreepGathered from Herbalism Nodes.
Salve via SkinningCollect 5 Patch of Tainted SkinSkinned from Beasts.
Salve via DisenchantingCollect 1 Lesser Nether EssenceDisenchanted from various Uncommon Items.

Make sure you have Cenarion Beacon in your inventory, otherwise you will not be able to complete these quests. Check your bank if you don’t have any and the questgiver doesn’t want to share. You will be given the Cenarion Plant Salve as a reward. Exactly this Item is used to cleanse a Corrupted Songflower and then loot a Cleansed Songflower. You may cleanse any other corrupted plants in Felwood of your choice, but only this one will give you the buff you wanted. The Corrupted Songflower will remain cleansed for the next two hours; however the plant can only be looted once every 25 minutes.

These are the approximate locations of the Corrupted Songflower:

Resist Fire

To get this Buff you will need to go to the Upper Blackrock Spire Instance and find an NPC named Scarshield Spellbinder. Use Priest’s Mind Control ability or the Gnomish Mind Control Cap Engineering device on this NPC to cast the Buff on yourself as well as on other members of your group. This Buff is extremely useful against Ragnaros in Molten Core or for main tanks and melee DPS Classes.

A useful tip: Kill every boss except Ragnaros himself; leave Molten Core and go to the UBRS in groups of 10 people; kill all the mobs you meet up to the needed NPC that is right under the bridge in the first room.

Note: Sometimes the tooltip demonstrates the different amount of Fire Resistance, but the buff always provides the same +83. It also stacks with Paladin’s resistance aura and Shaman’s resistance totem.

Warchief’s Blessing (Horde Only)

This Buff is a reward for the third Quest in the chain for the Onyxia Attunement, where Thrall sends the Player to kill Warchief Rend Blackhand in Blackrock Spire. When his head is returned to Orgrimmar, all players located in the Capital and in the Crossroads, Barrens are buffed. Thrall will also grant the Player with one of three rewards, Mark of Tyranny, Eye of the Beast, or Blackhand’s Breadth.

Dire Maul North Buffs (DM Tribute Run)

There are three different Buffs, which Players can get in the Dire Maul Instance; they are:

Mol’dar’s Moxie;

Fengus’ Ferocity;

Slip’kik’s Savvy.

In contrast to almost every activity in the game, here you should talk to bosses instead of killing them to get these Buffs. To do this you need to run through Dire Maul North, skipping as many bosses as possible. Hunters and Rogues have certain abilities, which help them a lot, like Feign Death or Vanish. Druids may also be helpful as long as they have the Prowl ability. You should kill King Gordok, take his place as a new king, and talk to each of the yet living bosses. Each Player in the group will receive a buff, so each one will have to talk to every boss. These are the Bosses to speak to Guard Mol’dar, Guard Fengus, and Guard Slip’kik.

Sayge’s Fortunes (Darkmoon Faire)

These buffs are available only when Darkmoon Faire opens which happens in the first week of every month. Darkmoon Faire spawns randomly either outside of Thunder Bluff or in Elwynn Forest outside of Goldshire. You can participate in the Darkmoon Faire regardless of what faction you are and where it spawns. Find a fortune-seeking Gnoll Sayge and answer his questions to get one of the following buffs:

Buff receivedEffectAnswer to question 1Answer to question 2
Sayge’s Dark Fortune of DamageIncreases all damage by 10%11

Sayge’s Dark Fortune of ArmorIncreases armor by 10%43

Any Buff remains for two hours and a new one is available only after the previous runs out.

Spirit of Zandalar

When the final boss of Zul’Gurub Hakkar is defeated, Players are able to loot the Heart of Hakkar – the Item that starts a Quest. The quest requires the Player to meet the troll Molthor on a small island in the top left corner of the map in Stranglethorn Vale, known as Yojamba Isle. After the Quest is turned in, Players have a right to choose one of three different trinkets, Zandalarian Hero Badge, Zandalarian Hero Medallion, or Zandalarian Hero Charm. But what is much more important for us here, as soon as you will return the Quest Item to Molthor, every player of both factions on Yojamba Isle or in Booty Bay, will receive the Spirit of Zandalar – an extremely useful and long-lasting Buff. Unfortunately, the movement speed increase doesn’t include Mounts. This effect, however, persists through death, which makes this Buff even more valuable.

Lordaeron’s Blessing

To get this Buff you must take control of the North pass tower in Eastern Plaguelands and click the Lordaeron Shrine which appears outside the door.

Please note, however, that this particular Buff is rather short – only 30 Minutes, and persists only in this concrete location and inside the Instances, which are located here: Scholomance, Stratholme, and Naxxramas.

Traces of Silithyst

Unlike almost all other Buffs, the Traces of Silithyst is first – a PvP related one and second – must be made by every member of the group in person. The task is simple: go to Silithus, find a special Silithyst Geyser and pick it up. You will see an orange aura called Silithyst around you. Now you have to bring what you’ve got to your faction’s disposition (the locations of these spots are marked for both factions on a map below) and get the Buff. You will also get 19 Honor Points, and 10 reputation points with the Cenarion Circle faction as well as 1 progress point for The Silithyst Must Flow world PvP event. The NPC for the Horde Players is called Horde Silithyst Sentinel and for the Alliance – Alliance Silithyst Sentinel correspondingly. However, there are some limitations to this task. First of all, you will be flagged for PvP right after you pick up the Silithyst Geyser. Then, while carrying Silithyst, your movement speed will be reduced (abilities like Sprint will not have any effect) and any attempt to mount will cause the loss of the Silithyst, so you will have to dismount to pick it up again. What’s more, this thing looks like a real magnet to wandering monsters, so be careful. There is, however, another way of getting the Silithyst – simply find a player of the opposite faction carrying one. Upon damaging that player, they will drop their load, creating a Silithyst Mound allowing any Player to it pick up.

Consumables

Not only in-game events and actions may reward a zealous Player with useful Buffs. There are also lots of consumable items all over Azeroth, which may grant you with this or that positive effect. And now we will tell you about them.

Felwood Consumables

First of all, you are to complete the same Quest you needed for the Songflower Serenade Buff. They are Cleansing Felwood for the Horde Players and Cleansing Felwood for the Alliance representatives. Save the Cenarion Plant Salve you will get, as you will need these Items later.

Windblossom Berries

Restores 1933.2 Health over 27 seconds. It also increases your Stamina by 10 for 10 Minutes.

Find a Corrupted Windblossom in Felwood and interact with it. You need 2 Cenarion Plant Salve to cleanse the flower and to create a Cleansed Windblossom. Loot the cleansed flower to receive Windblossom Berries. You will obtain 15-20 Items from each plant.

Whipper Root Tuber

Restores 700 to 900 Health. Has 2 Minutes Cooldown.

Find a Corrupted Whipper Root in Felwood and interact with it. You need 3 Cenarion Plant Salve to cleanse the flower and to create a Cleansed Whipper Root. Loot the cleansed flower to receive Whipper Root Tuber. You will obtain 3-10 Items from each plant.

Night Dragon’s Breath

Restores 394 to 456 Mana and 394 to 456 Health. Has 2 Minutes Cooldown.

Find a Corrupted Night Dragon in Felwood and interact with it. You need 4 Cenarion Plant Salve to cleanse the flower and to create a Cleansed Night Dragon. Loot the cleansed flower to receive Night Dragon’s Breath. You will obtain 3-10 Items from each plant.

Blasted Lands Consumables

Blasted Lands is that very zone, where the Dark Portal is located. And at the northern part of it right by the cemetery, you may come across two Blood Elves dressed in red – Bloodmage Drazial and Bloodmage Lynnore. They will give you five Quests, each of which will send you to different parts of Blasted Lands in order to kill various creatures and to loot certain Items from them. We recommend you complete all five quests at least once.

After you will accomplish these first tasks, the questgivers will offer now repeatable quests, allowing Players to farm up consumable items of their choice. Some of them are even better than potions and flasks made by alchemists but are far cheaper to get – you only have to grind them. These consumables are all Bind on Pickup, unfortunately, and unique, which means, you can only carry one of them at a time and cannot trade them to other players. Let us have a closer look at each of them.

Winterspring Consumables

The following Items provide useful Buffs of different duration including Frost and Fire resistance. Players must accomplish several tasks in order to obtain them. First of all, you are to travel to Everlook in Winterspring and find the Goblin named Harlo Wigglesworth. He will give you A Little Luck Quest. Note: both factions may do it according to the latest information. Walk ten Meters and turn the Quest to the Troll named Witch Doctor Mau’ari. After this, you will be able to complete a Quest Luck Be With You. It may be rather difficult to do solo through the presence of Elite Frostmaul Giants around, so think about asking for help. The needed 4 Frostmaul Shards are located in the Southern part of Winterspring. Once you are done, turn this Quest in and take the next one – Cache of Mau’ari. You will receive an Item of the same name (Cache of Mau’ari) and will be able to collect the E’ko Items from various creatures in Winterspring to get the Consumables you want. Do not through the Cache of Mau’ari away and keep it in your bag the whole time for as long as you hunt for the E’ko. Each time you collect 3 specific E’ko, you can return to Witch Doctor Mau’ari and turn them in to receive a corresponding Juju consumable.

Raid Check List

Make sure, you have the following Consumable Items a day before the Raid Day:

  • In Felwood: Obtain enough Cenarion Plant Salve Items today to cleanse Corrupted Flowers for needed Consumables tomorrow.
  • In Blasted Lands: Satisfy the Blood Elves’ needs in the fresh meat to get the Consumable Items of your choice.
  • In Winterspring: Farm E’ko from different mobs in order to get that Juju, you are interested in.

Note that all the following actions must be done in the fastest possible way; otherwise, the first Buff you’ve got would disappear by the time you would get the last one. Make sure, you have all the transport logistics and possible expenses covered beforehand; try to follow our tips closely.

Horde Raid Day

  • Do the Dire Maul North Tribute run in groups of 5 people with a Mage necessary, get the Dire Maul Buffs;
  • One of the Mages should make a portal to Orgrimmar right away;
  • Fly to Felwood, find a Corrupted Songflower, interact with it, and get the Buff;
  • One of the Mages should make a portal to Orgrimmar right away;
  • Back in Orgrimmar, a guild member should turn in Head of Onyxia or Head of Nefarian, for the Buff. Make sure, you do have it!
  • Use Hearthstone that is set in Grom’Gol or Kargath;
  • Fly to Booty Bay, a guild member should be already on the Yojamba Isle to turn in Heart of Hakkar to the Troll for the Buff;
  • It is recommended to use Warlock’s summon if you have it to get the whole Raid to the entrance of the concrete Instance. Or you can fly to the nearest Flight Point and start raiding, but this will take more time, probably.
  • Good luck!

Alliance Raid Day
