TBC Anniversary Mount Hyjal Release Date
TBC Anniversary Mount Hyjal releases on August 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM PDT, alongside Black Temple, which marks the start of Tier 6 raid progression. In addition to this, Netherwing and Epic Gems sources will be accessible in Phase 3.
The Burning Crusade Annviersary Mount Hyjal unlock requirements include acquiring the Mount Hyjal attunement. This will be helpful to those who are going to try Black Temple at the first lockout since the Black Temple questline requires you to kill Rage Winterchill from Mount Hyjal.
TBC Anniversary Mount Hyjal Composition
Mount Hyjal does not demand one exact raid setup, but several encounters reward flexible groups. A common starting point is three or four tanks with six or seven healers. The remaining slots can be split between melee and ranged DPS.
| Class and Specialization | Role | Number | Main Contribution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protection Warrior | Tank | 1 | Main boss tank, particularly strong for Archimonde |
| Protection Paladin | Tank | 1 | AoE tanking for large trash waves, Infernals, and Doomguards |
| Feral Druid | Tank / Melee DPS | 1 | Flexible third tank for Abominations, with solid DPS between tank assignments |
| Holy Paladin | Healer | 1 | Reliable single-target healing and valuable raid Blessings |
| Retribution Paladin | Melee DPS | 1 | Extra Blessing, Judgement support, and physical damage |
| Restoration Shaman | Healer | 3 | Raid healing, Mana Tide Totem, and strong group-specific totem support |
| Enhancement Shaman | Melee DPS | 1 | Windfury Totem and strong melee group support |
| Elemental Shaman | Ranged DPS | 1 | Totem of Wrath and spell-focused group support |
| Holy Priest | Healer | 2 | Flexible tank and raid healing, plus Shackle Undead for wave control |
| Shadow Priest | Ranged DPS | 1 | Provides steady mana recovery for healers and mana-heavy casters |
| Restoration Druid | Healer | 1 | Strong HoT coverage, Combat Resurrection, and curse removal |
| Balance Druid | Ranged DPS | 1 | Caster critical strike support, ranged damage, and curse removal |
| Arms Warrior | Melee DPS | 1 | Blood Frenzy, Mortal Strike, and physical damage support |
| Rogue | Melee DPS | 1 | Reliable interrupts, Wound Poison, and serious priority-target damage |
| Hunter | Ranged DPS | 3 | Misdirection, serious single-target damage, and control of flying enemies |
| Warlock | Ranged DPS | 3 | Powerful Seed of Corruption AoE, useful curses, and sustained ranged damage |
| Mage | Ranged DPS | 2 | Strong AoE, Polymorph, interrupts, and fast curse removal |
Protection Paladins are very handy in handling massive trash packs as well as several add fights. Warrior, as a main tank, is well-suited to deal with Archimonde because Berserker Rage helps against the Fear effect. Off-tanks with flexibility are good since only one Tank is needed to deal with Archimonde.
It is best to have great AoE damage and interrupts, as well as curse removal and lots of Mana support for your raid. The Shaman becomes really crucial in dealing with Archimonde since Tremor Totem also can help in keeping the Fear effect under control. That said, now is the best time for TBC Power Leveling, especially if you haven’t found your class on the list.
How to Enter Mount Hyjal in The Burning Crusade
TBC Mount Hyjal requires both being attuned to and reaching an entrance within the Caverns of Time instance. Fortunately, the actual process of attunement is relatively quick for those who have completed Phase 2 raiding progression. The difficulty lies in defeating the bosses of Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep instances. Thus, to enter the Hyjal Summit raid in TBC Anniversary, you need:
- Get Mount Hyjal attunement;
- Head to the Caverns of Time portal in your faction city;
- Inside the Caverns of Time, go all the way down the road and move towards the forest area.
For the completion of the Mount Hyjal attunement, read our How to Get The Burning Crusade Attunements guide.
Mount Hyjal Location
The Mount Hyjal entrance in The Burning Crusade Anniversary is inside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. Head into the Caverns and continue toward the forested section leading to Hyjal Summit. Night Elf glaive throwers near the path make the correct area fairly easy to recognize.
The closest flight masters available are found in Gadgetzan, where Horde players can find Bulkrek Ragefist, and Alliance players can take their flights to Bera Stonehammer. From there, head Southeast to the entrance of the Caverns of Time. And if you haven’t done your Mount Hyjal Attunement, ask our team to do it fast and easy.
The Burning Crusade Mount Hyjal Loot
The most important part of the raid and the main reason to complete it is TBC Anniversary Mount Hyjal loot. The Hyjal Summit raid starts the Tier 6 gearing cycle alongside Black Temple. Normal bosses and trash epics are item level 141, while Tier 6 tokens are higher. Archimonde also drops stronger item level 151 gear.
| Loot Source | Item Level |
|---|---|
| Boss and Trash Epics | 141 |
| Tier 6 Tokens | 146 |
| Archimonde Loot | 151 |
Trash can also drop several BoP epic items, so the long wave events are not only obstacles. Some of these drops remain strong upgrades for specific classes and builds. Dedicated loot farming can also provide Scale of the Sands reputation.
Mount Hyjal Tier 6 Tokens
Only two Tier 6 armor slots come from Mount Hyjal in TBC Anniversary. Azgalor drops the Gloves tokens, while Archimonde drops the Helm tokens. The remaining Tier 6 armor pieces come from Black Temple.
| Tier 6 Slot | Boss |
|---|---|
| Gloves | Azgalor |
| Helm | Archimonde |
The Burning Crusade Anniversary Mount Hyjal Tier 6 token groups are:
- Protector: Warrior, Hunter, Shaman.
- Vanquisher: Rogue, Mage, Druid.
- Conqueror: Paladin, Priest, Warlock.
Take your token to Tydormu, found near the Mount Hyjal entrance. He exchanges the raid tokens for the matching Tier 6 Set armor pieces. If you are looking for a whole set, our team can get it for you, and you won’t have to grind.
TBC Anniversary Mount Hyjal Boss Strategy
Mount Hyjal in TBC Classic has five bosses and no optional encounters. The first four are single-phase fights after their respective wave events. Archimonde removes the trash marathon but raises the personal responsibility level considerably.
| Boss | Area | Main Mechanic |
|---|---|---|
| Rage Winterchill | Alliance Base | Icebolt, Death & Decay |
| Anetheron | Alliance Base | Carrion Swarm, Inferno |
| Kaz’rogal | Horde Encampment | Mark of Kaz’rogal |
| Azgalor | Horde Encampment | Doom |
| Archimonde | Nordrassil | Doomfire, Fear, Air Burst |
Rage Winterchill Strategy
Rage Winterchill is the first boss of Mount Hyjal and a pretty straightforward encounter for raiders. The boss abilities punish slow movement and bad dispels. The main focus in this fight will be on keeping the whole raid alive and with enough resources before the boss reaches the camp.
Rage Winterchill abilities list:
- Icebolt — does damage to a random target and stuns them for four seconds.
- Frost Nova — roots all nearby players and NPCs for ten seconds.
- Death & Decay— does percent-based damage through ground effect.
- Frost Armor — enhances all defenses and slows melee attackers.
During the Rage Winterchill fight, tanks should keep him moveable and leave the Death & Decay area. Healers’ job is to pay attention to Icebolt targets and dispel Frost Nova. As for the DPS players, they should leave Death & Decay and interrupt the boss as much as possible.
Anetheron Strategy
Anetheron creates a lot more pressure on positioning compared to Rage Winterchill. First, there is Carrion Swarm, which can weaken multiple healers at once. Also, you will need an off tank who can take care of Towering Infernals.
Main abilities of Anetheron are:
- Carrion Swarm — cone attack that cuts 75% of healing received for 20 seconds.
- Inferno — summons Towering Infernals from a random player.
- Sleep — sleeps three random players for ten seconds.
- Vampiric Aura — restores health of Anetheron by the percentage of melee damage he takes.
Tanks should aim to keep Anetheron apart from Infernals. Healers should spread around the boss and heal players under the Sleep effect.
DPS will need to maintain healing reduction and switch to Infernals when they are summoned. In this fight, having BiS Gear equipped will come in handy, so if you haven’t acquired a perfect set for yourself yet, now is the best time.
Kaz’rogal Strategy
Kaz’rogal is the point where Mount Hyjal becomes a healer skill check. The Mark of Kaz’rogal spell gets increasingly punishing throughout the fight. Pulls that last long become very dangerous to mana-using players very soon.
The most important spells of Kaz’rogal are:
- Mark of Kaz’rogal — Mana drain 3,000 mana in five seconds.
- War Stomp — Hits and stuns the players standing close by.
- Malevolent Cleave — Cleave attack hitting two targets in front.
- Cripple — Slows down movement and attack speed as well as reduces Strength.
Tanks should position Kaz’rogal in such a way that Thrall hits him from behind. Healers need to save mana while healing the tanks. DPS basically need to try to deal as much damage as possible while paying attention to their mana.
Azgalor Strategy
The fourth Mount Hyjal boss, Azgalor, drops the Tier 6 Gloves tokens for the raid. The fight involves unavoidable deaths of the players due to the Dooms and heavy healing required. It becomes much easier to complete the fight if there is a proper strategy developed to counter the Dooms.
Abilities of Azgalor are:
- Doom — kills a random player after 20 seconds.
- Lesser Doomguard — summoned when the Doomed player is dead.
- Rain of Fire — deals damage to players inside its AoE and applies DoT.
- Howl of Azgalor — silences the entire raid for 5 seconds.
- Cleave — front attack on players and NPCs.
Tanks are required to position Azgalor facing the raid, and the group might need to assign extra tanks for Doomguards. Healers should pre-HoT the tanks before Howl and keep out of Rain of Fire range. Doomed DPS players should make it to the required death location before the timer expires.
Archimonde Strategy
Archimonde is the last boss on Mount Hyjal who represents a perfect example of a fight where one mistake may ruin everything. His health will not be a problem. Surviving Doomfire, Fear, Air Burst, and Soul Charge will.
List of Archimonde abilities:
- Doomfire — moving fire damaging the area around and giving a burning debuff.
- Fear — raid-wide Fear lasting eight seconds every 40 seconds.
- Air Burst — sending a random player and people within 13 yards in the air.
- Grip of the Legion — powerful Curse inflicting shadow damage over time.
- Soul Charge — punishing the whole raid for each dead player.
- Finger of Death — killing players if there is nobody in melee range.
Before pulling, make sure everyone has spoken to Tyrande Whisperwind and has picked up Tears of the Goddess. Otherwise, the chances are high that Air Burst will kill you.
Tanks must never leave melee range and have a way out from Fear. Healers need to focus on staying alive and executing fast curse removal and healing Tanks. DPS should use all survival mechanics first. You can prepare for this fight easily with our Phase 3 Ready Raider.
Tears of the Goddess and Air Burst
Air Burst targets a random player and hits everyone within 13 yards. Affected players take Nature damage and are launched high into the air. This is where Tears of the Goddess come in.
Use Tears shortly before hitting the ground to slow your fall. Using them too early can let the slow-fall effect end before landing. Waiting too long gives the item no chance to save you.
When Air Burst selects you, move away from nearby players before it goes off. Hitting one person is manageable. Launching half a group creates several chances for someone to mistime their Tears.
Mount Hyjal Trash Mobs Strategy
TBC Anniversary Mount Hyjal mob waves deserve more attention than normal raid trash because every wave is tied directly to boss progression. The same enemies return in different combinations, so learning them early makes later waves much cleaner. AoE alone will not solve everything.
| Trash Mob | Main Danger | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Ghoul | Frenzy | Group them and use AoE damage |
| Shadowy Necromancer | Shadow Bolt, Unholy Frenzy | Interrupt, stun, and focus quickly |
| Abomination | Disease Cloud, Knockdown | Control or kite dangerous groups |
| Banshee | Banshee Curse, Anti-Magic Shell | Decurse and use physical damage |
| Gargoyle | Long-range attacks | Pull them down for tanks and melee |
| Frost Wyrm | Frost Breath | Spread and kill quickly |
| Giant Infernal | Immolation | Control with a prepared tank |
| Fel Stalker | Mana Burn | Crowd control or kill early |
