In The Burning Crusade Anniversary attunements are mandatory requirements for accessing major endgame content. In this guide, you will learn how to get attuned in The Burning Crusade, what the key, raid, and Heroic dungeon requirements are, and the best ways to complete your attunements.
How to Get The Burning Crusade Attunements Key Takeaways:
Most often, TBC Anniversary attunements require completing quest chains, reputation requirements, or a combination of both. Without completing the required attunement, you cannot enter the desired dungeon or raid or unlock related content.
- In the Anniversary realms, TBC raid attunements become account-wide. Alt characters need to reach Friendly reputation with the required faction.
- Almost all attunements in TBC Anniversary depend on each other, e.g., you can’t get attuned to Mount Hyjal without The Eye and Serpentshrine Cavern attunement.
- There are four types of TBC Anniversary attunements: keys, raids, heroic dungeons, and Other (factions).
- The best way to get all TBC Anniversary attunements is to use the Attune addon to track the progress.
Best Way to Get the Burning Crusade Attunements
To be able to complete the attunement process fast in TBC Anniversary, you should reach level 70. While many attunements become available around level 67-68, level 70 is the optimal milestone, which allows you to attune faster and easier. Also, it is important to understand that some The Burning Crusade Anniversary attunements cannot be completed independently. They are arranged in a chain:
- Tempest Keep: The Eye and Serpentshrine Cavern → required for Mount Hyjal (Hyjal Summit);
- Mount Hyjal (Hyjal Summit), The Eye (Tempest Keep), and Serpentshrine Cavern → part of the path to Black Temple, etc.
Simply put, if you miss an early attunement in TBC Anniversary, it will almost always come back to haunt you later. So, the best way to get attuned in TBC Anniversary is to track your attunement progress and complete them one by one. It is extremely convenient to use the Attune addon. How to use Attune:
- Install the addon and log into the game;
- Open the Attune interface via the menu or the /attune command;
- Select the desired dungeon, raid, or faction;
- Follow the steps marked in the diagram until the attunement is complete.
Attune is especially useful if you are returning to TBC Anniversary after a long break, play multiple characters, or if you and your guild are planning raid progress and want to understand which requirements are still pending. Alternatively, you can ask for Phase 1 Attunements and our team will ensure that you can access any type of content that you want.
The Burning Crusade Attunement Changes
In The Burning Crusade Anniversary, attunements follow a first-character rule. Your first character must fully complete attunements for Heroic dungeons (Revered reputation and keys) and Raids through their original quest chains.
After that, Heroic dungeon keys can be unlocked for alts via Bind-on-Battle.net-Account items (alts still need at least Friendly reputation). Raid attunements become account-wide, so characters on your account can enter raids without repeating the full attunement process.
The Burning Crusade All Attunements

In The Burning Crusade Anniversary, attunement is a system that grants access to some raid and heroic content through quest chains or reputation requirements. Without understanding the attunement system, you will either run into closed content or miss important steps in preparing for the endgame. Below is a list of activities for which attunements or related conditions are still important:
| Attunement Type | Activities |
|---|---|
| Keys | The Shattered Halls, The Arcatraz, Shadow Labyrinth, The Black Morass |
| Raids | Karazhan, Nightbane, Serpentshrine Cavern, The Eye (Tempest Keep), Mount Hyjal (Hyjal Summit), Black Temple |
| Heroic Dungeons | Honor Hold Heroics / Thrallmar Heroics, Cenarion Expedition Heroics, Lower City Heroics, Sha’tar Heroics, Keepers of Time Heroics |
| Other | Ogri’la Questline, Ally of the Netherwing |
Most attunements in TBC Anniversary are built around three basic principles:
- Quest-based attunements — You complete a quest chain that logically leads to the desired dungeon or raid. Examples: Karazhan, Tempest Keep: The Eye, Black Temple, Mount Hyjal (Hyjal Summit), Netherwing, Ogrila.
- Reputation-based attunements — Access requires a certain reputation level, usually Revered with a faction, say, the Scryers, as well as the purchase of a key. This is the standard system for Heroic dungeons.
- Combined attunements — The most complex cases, where quests, reputation, and raid boss kills are all required. Classic examples are Mount Hyjal (Hyjal Summit) and Black Temple, where one attunement directly depends on the other.
The Burning Crusade Key Attunements
Dungeon keys are a form of TBC attunement that grant access to specific dungeons or Heroic versions and are often a mandatory step for further progression:
- Shattered Halls Key — access to The Shattered Halls, required for further heroic chains.
- Key to the Arcatraz — key to enter The Arcatraz, important for Trial of the Naaru.
- Shadow Labyrinth Key — access to Shadow Labyrinth, used in several raid attunements.
- The Black Morass — the final instance of Caverns of Time, required for Mount Hyjal (Hyjal Summit) and Karazhan chains.
✏️ A Rogue with 350 lockpicking can open the gate without the keys.
Without these keys, other TBC Anniversary classes will not be able to start the Heroic version of the dungeon, which means you will not have access to some of the gear, reputation, and key steps of raid attunements.

The Burning Crusade Other Attunements
There are a few additional chains of attunements in The Burning Crusade Anniversary that are not directly related to raids but are closely linked to progression:
- Ogri’la Questline — unlocks access to daily quests and additional content.
- Ally of the Netherwing — Netherwing reputation chain linked to lore and unique rewards.
Unlike in earlier patches of the original TBC, many attunements are no longer present, but the chains themselves still exist and remain mandatory for obtaining the Hand of A’dal title, as well as for logical progression through raids.
Ogri’la Questline
Ogri’la is a neutral faction in the Blade’s Edge Mountains, available in the later stages of The Burning Crusade. Unlike raids and Heroic dungeons, Ogri’la does not open instances, but requires attunement to access daily quests, reputation, and unique rewards. You should complete this attunement if you plan to:
- Farm Ogri’la reputation;
- Complete daily quests;
- Obtain consumables, enchants, and gear;
- Unlock related Sha’tari Skyguard content.
How to Unlock Ogri’la Quest Hub
To unlock Ogri’la in The Burning Crusade Anniversary, you need to complete the following steps:
- Reach level 70;
- Speak with V’eru in Shattrath City;

- Defeat the required group targets during the quest chain:
After completing these quests, you will unlock access to Ogri’la and its daily quest hub in Blade’s Edge Mountains.
Important Notes:
- Ogri’la attunement is account-wide per character, not per group.
- No need to farm keys or reputation thresholds to start the chain, only level 70.
- This attunement is optional, but highly recommended for late-game gold and consumables.
Ally of the Netherwing
The Netherwing is a dragon faction located in Shadowmoon Valley. You need attunement to the Netherwing to access Netherwing Ledge, unlock daily quests, begin reputation grinding, and eventually unlock Netherwing Drakes (flying mounts). This attunement is required if you want to:

- Gain access to Netherwing mounts;

- Reach level 70;
- Speak with Mordenai in Shadowmoon Valley;

- No need to meet any dungeon or raid requirements.
- You need flying in Shadowmoon Valley to complete the chain efficiently.
- Netherwing attunement is optional, but mandatory if you want Netherwing mounts.
Now you know how to get The Burning Crusade Attunements, and ready to start this journey. Remember to attune to Heroic dungeons first, as they are a part of the majority of raid attunements.
