4.9Sha Touched Gems Overview
In Mists of Pandaria Classic, Sha-Touched Gems are an early step in the legendary cloak questline. By completing Chapter I: Trial of the Black Prince, players earn a powerful gem that adds +500 to a primary stat. This reward is not random. You get to pick the gem that best matches your class and specialization.
There are three Sha Touched Gems available in MoP Classic. Crystallized Dread grants +500 Agility, making it valuable for Rogues, Hunters, and other agility-based damage dealers. Crystallized Terror provides +500 Strength, ideal for Warriors, Death Knights, and Retribution Paladins. Finally, Crystallized Horror gives +500 Intellect, which benefits spellcasters such as Mages, Warlocks, and Priests. Here is the full list of gems:
- Crystallized Dread: +500 Agility;
- Crystallized Terror: +500 Strength;
- Crystallized Horror: +500 Intellect.
These gems can only be placed into Sha-Touched weapons, a special category of gear introduced in Tier 14 content. In total, there are nine weapons that feature the Sha-Touched socket.
📌 Each weapon exists in three versions: Normal, Heroic, and Celestial. Normal and Heroic versions drop directly from Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring, while the Celestial versions become available for purchase two weeks after their respective raid releases.
Because the bonus from Sha-Touched Gems is significant, obtaining a compatible weapon and slotting in the correct gem is an important gearing step for many classes early in the expansion. This makes them a core part of both raid progression and the legendary questline.

Sha-Touched weapons in Pandaria Classic are unique because they feature a special socket designed exclusively for Sha-Touched Gems. Unlike regular raid drops, these weapons offer the ability to add a powerful +500 primary stat through the gem reward from the legendary questline.
There are nine Sha-Touched weapons in total, covering a range of weapon types for different classes and specs. Each weapon comes in Normal, Heroic, and later Celestial versions, giving players multiple item level options depending on their raid progression. Normal and Heroic versions drop from Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring, while the Celestial versions become available for purchase two weeks after their respective raid release.

How to Unlock Sha Touched Gems
To obtain a Sha-Touched Gem in Mists of Pandaria Classic, you must complete Chapter I: Trial of the Black Prince, the first stage of the legendary cloak questline. Completing this chapter rewards you with one Sha-Touched Gem of your choice and unlocks the option to purchase additional gems from the Blacktalon Quartermaster.
The questline begins with Stranger in a Strange Land, where you are directed to meet Wrathion at the Tavern in the Mists in the Veiled Stair. You can pick the starting quest from various NPCs across Pandaria, but the most accessible are:
- Alliance: Brewmaster Tsu at the Shrine of Seven Stars (/way #1530 87.4 68.0);
- Horde: Kurong Caskhead at the Shrine of Two Moons (/way #1530 62.2 13.2).
After meeting Wrathion through A Legend in the Making, the questline continues with Trial of the Black Prince, which requires reaching Honored reputation with Wrathion’s faction.
This is achieved by killing level 90 Mogu and Mantid enemies in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Townlong Steppes, and Dread Wastes. Items such as the Battle Standard of Coordination can speed up reputation gains.
📌Rogues who completed the Fangs of the Father questline in Cataclysm can skip this step.
Next, in The Strength of One’s Foes, you must collect 10 Sigils of Power and 10 Sigils of Wisdom from raid bosses in Mogu’shan Vaults, Heart of Fear, or Terrace of Endless Spring. Since Raid Finder is not available in MoP Classic, these Sigils also have a chance to drop from the end bosses of Celestial Dungeons.
At this point, the questline branches:
- Fear Itself requires defeating the Sha of Fear in Terrace of Endless Spring and looting the Chimera of Fear;
- When in Doubt requires defeating the Sha of Doubt in the Temple of the Jade Serpent on Celestial Difficulty and looting the Chimera of Doubt.
Finally, in Breath of the Black Prince, you meet Wrathion at Mason’s Folly to claim your reward. At this stage, you can choose one of three Sha-Touched Gems.
Where to Buy Sha Touched Gems
Once you have completed Breath of the Black Prince and obtained your first Sha-Touched Gem, you unlock the ability to buy more. Additional gems cost 10,000 gold each (before any reputation discounts), and you can purchase them from the Blacktalon Quartermaster in the Veiled Stair.

4.9Sha-Touched Gems are an important part of early gearing in MoP Classic.
