HOME How to get OSRS How to Get to Vorkath Osrs

Vorkath is one of OSRS’s top-tier money-making bosses — a solo dragon boss that averages 3–5M GP/hour at consistent kill rates, drops the Dragonbone Necklace, and is a required unlock for the Assembler max cape equivalent. Getting to him requires completing a significant quest, but the GP payoff is among the best in the game.

  • Located on Ungael island, north of Waterbirth Island
  • Requires completing Dragon Slayer II to fight Vorkath
  • Fastest travel: Fremennik Sea Boots 4 teleport or Lunar Spellbook’s Waterbirth Island teleport
  • Recommended stats: 90+ Ranged, 70+ Defence, 74 Prayer (Rigour helps but isn’t required)
  • Average kill value: 120,000–160,000 GP including drops and Dragon Bones

How to Get to Vorkath in OSRS

Vorkath is found on Ungael, an icy island north of the Fremennik Province. You can only reach it after completing Dragon Slayer II, which unlocks permanent access to Ungael via Temporal Rift (a boat) at the docks of Rellekka.

After DS2, the fastest travel options are:

  1. Fremennik Sea Boots 4 — teleport to Rellekka, then use the Temporal Rift boat north of the docks. Requires completing the Fremennik Achievement Diary (Elite tier) but is the fastest overall method.
  2. Waterbirth Island Teleport (Lunar Spellbook) — requires Dream Mentor. Teleports to Waterbirth Island; speak to Jarvald for a boat to Ungael.
  3. Fairy Ring DKS — takes you to Waterbirth Island, then boat to Ungael as above.
  4. Rellekka lodestone / Enchanted Lyre — then take the Temporal Rift boat.

ℹ️ The Temporal Rift boat north of Rellekka is the direct route added post-DS2. Talk to Orion on the dock to sail to Ungael in under a minute.

Vorkath Mechanics and Attack Patterns

Vorkath uses six attack types in rotation. Most are manageable with Protect from Missiles, but two specials require immediate action.

AttackTypeResponse
Standard RangedRangedProtect from Missiles
Standard MagicMagicOptional pray-switch
DragonfireDragon fireAnti-dragon shield or Dragonfire Ward
Venomous DragonfirePoisonAntifire potion + Antivenom
Acid PhasePoison poolsWalk in a Z/figure-8 pattern
Zombified SpawnMelee summonBurst/Barrage or Crumble Undead instantly

The Acid Phase and Zombified Spawn are the two mechanics that cause deaths. During Acid, don’t stand still — walk in a figure-8 to avoid pools. During Spawn, kill it immediately with Crumble Undead (requires 1 rune each: cosmic, earth, chaos) or burst spells.

Recommended Gear for Vorkath

Ranged is the optimal style for Vorkath. The Twisted Bow is best-in-slot but absolutely not required — most players use Armadyl Crossbow or Blowpipe with appropriate bolt choices.

  • Armadyl Crossbow with Ruby Bolts (e) until 50% HP, then Diamond Bolts (e)
  • Blowpipe with Dragon Darts as an alternative (less max hit but faster speed)
  • Void Ranger or Armadyl armour
  • Dragonfire Ward or Anti-dragon Shield for the fire attacks
  • Vorkath’s Head (after 50 kills) — used to upgrade Slayer helmet and imbue Void

Bring Crumble Undead runes specifically for the Zombified Spawn phase. Missing this spell or fumbling the switch is the most common cause of deaths at Vorkath.

Farming Vorkath seriously? If you’d rather not work through Dragon Slayer II’s requirements first, our OSRS quest completion services can handle that so you can focus on the boss.

OSRS Vorkath FAQ

Below are the most common questions about accessing and farming Vorkath in OSRS.

What Quest Is Required for Vorkath?

Dragon Slayer II is the hard requirement. It’s a grandmaster quest with significant prerequisites including Legends’ Quest, Dream Mentor, Animal Magnetism, Client of Kourend, and several others. Total quest time for a prepared account is 3–6 hours.

How Many Kills per Hour Is Vorkath?

Efficient players with good gear achieve 28–33 kills per hour. With Twisted Bow, some players push above 35. At 28 kills/hour and ~130,000 GP average drop value, that’s roughly 3.6M GP/hour before supply costs.

Is Vorkath Harder Than Zulrah?

Both have specific mechanics that need learning. Most players find Vorkath more forgiving once the rotation is understood — it’s more predictable than Zulrah’s multiple rotations. The Acid Phase and Spawn response are the learning hurdles; after 20–30 kills, deaths become rare.

What Drops Does Vorkath Give?

Vorkath’s most valuable unique drops are the Dragonbone Necklace (~6M GP) and Vorkath’s Head (used to upgrade Slayer Helm to Vorkath’s head cosmetic, plus Assembler upgrade). He also drops consistent Dragon Bones, Rune items, Blue Dragon Hide, and frequent noted herb drops that add substantial passive GP per run.

Can Ironmen Kill Vorkath?

Yes — Vorkath is a great boss for Ironmen due to the consistent supply drops (herbs, ranarrs, snapdragons) and Dragon Bones for Prayer training. The Assembler upgrade via Vorkath’s Head (50 kills) is a major milestone for Ironmen focused on Ranged BiS.

The boat ride to Ungael is short — the real journey is building the account to farm Vorkath efficiently. Once you’re there, it’s one of the most reliable GP/hour activities in the game.
