In Fellowship, Gems are essential material that allows you to improve your gear, add stats, and increase your overall performance in dungeons. With our Fellowship Gems Guide, you will learn about gems’ tiers and types, how to get them and where to use them, and what Gem Power Overcapping is.
Fellowship Gems Key Takeaways:
- Gems in Fellowship have four types: Small, Large, Splendid, and Flawless, with all of these raising the Gem Power from 150 to 500.
- The Jeweler in Fellowship enables you to upgrade, divide, and transmute gems with the help of Unstable, Imbued, and Arcane Aether.
- Gems start dropping in dungeons in Contender 4, and increased difficulty allows you to have better chances to earn gems.
- Additionally, you can buy gems in the Resources Vendor in the Stronghold using Marks of Fellowship.
- New sockets are available on Epic+ Cloaks, Wrists, Rings, and Legendary items, with the maximum number of sockets being four.
- Ruby, Amethyst, Topaz, Emerald, Sapphire, and Diamond Gems are the Fellowship gems.
- Gem Essence adds 100 Gem Power of any color without the usage of a socket.
- Overcapping Gem Power in a certain color track above 1500 grants small stacking bonuses to endgame builds.
Fellowship Season 3 Gems Changes
The Fellowship Season 3 has made many changes to the gem system that make old gem values no longer match the existing game. Here are some important Fellowship Gems changes that players need to be aware of:
- Gem Power values have been altered — Small, Large, Splendid, and Flawless gems provide different Gem Power values now.
- Gem effect thresholds have been adjusted — new unlock requirements have been introduced for Rank 1 and Rank 2 bonuses for each color track.
- Empowered Sockets are no longer available — sockets no longer come with Gem Power bonuses.
- Legendary items have been adjusted — these items no longer increase Gem Power of socketed gems by two times.
- Socket slots have become restricted — some gear slots can only be used for placing sockets in Fellowship Season 3.
- Gem Essence has been introduced — certain item modifiers can provide additional Gem Power values without sockets.
Fellowship Gems Tiers

Fellowship gems come in four tiers that give you Gem Power as you level them up. These are ranked as Small, Large, Splendid, and Flawless gems. The higher the rank, the greater the amount of Gem Power provided by them, ranging from 150 to 500, respectively.
| Gem Tier | Gem Power |
|---|---|
| Small | 150 |
| Large | 250 |
| Splendid | 350 |
| Flawless | 500 |
📌 Each gem type (Ruby, Amethyst, Topaz, Emerald, Sapphire, and Diamond) has all four tiers, so there is always space to fill out your build.
You’ll only start getting Small gems as dungeon drops, but that’s just the entry point. Combine three gems of the same color and tier to craft the next level up, say, three Small Rubies turn into one Large Ruby. It’s a steady climb early on, but once you’re clearing tougher dungeons regularly, upgrades start to flow almost automatically.
For high-end setups, Flawless gems are where the real power lies. The Gem Power growth amplifies the strength of your passive bonuses and unlocks stronger conditional effects deeper in your gem tree. In a word, gems paired with High ILvl gear can significantly improve your performance.
Fellowship Gem Jeweler
The Gem Jeweler is your go-to place for upgrading, splitting, and transforming gems. Here, you can stack lower-level gems together to make more powerful gems, or break a high-level gem into shards if you need certain materials to make another color or arrangement.
In the Jeweler, you also have three types of Aether: Unstable, Imbued, and Arcane. Unstable Aether allows you to fuse three gems and turn them into a random other color, Imbued Aether lets you transmute a gem into one of three random colors, and Arcane Aether allows you to pick any color for your gem.
This system makes color-hunting much easier, especially when you’re fine-tuning your stats or chasing a specific synergy in your gem tree. The catch is that you’ll need plenty of duplicate gems to work with, so don’t rush to sell or dismantle your extras.
Fellowship How to Get Gems
There are three primary ways to get Gems in Fellowship:
- Loot Small gems in Contender 4+ dungeons;
- Buy gems from Storekeeper Keiren for Marks of Fellowship;
- Combine smaller gems to get a gem from a higher tier.
You’ll find your first small gems in low-level Contender dungeons, and once you get enough of them, you can combine three gems into one better gem, e.g., three small gems make up one large gem, and three large gems turn into one splendid gem, and so on.
Storekeeper Keiren in the Stronghold gives you another way to speed things up. You can buy gems for Marks of Fellowship, and the vendor also lets you convert Supplies into Marks. This helps a lot on alts or when one color refuses to drop during your dungeon grind.
Fellowship Gem Dungeon Drops
You’ll start getting gem drops when your character is in Contender 4. As we have already mentioned, only Small gems can drop from dungeons themselves. The game requires you to acquire, merge, and upgrade them to higher tiers later.
The higher the dungeon difficulty, the better your drop chances become. Each completed run has a chance to reward a gem, and that chance keeps improving as you push harder dungeon levels. So if you’re farming for upgrades, push those harder tiers.
📌 Since the gems are character-specific, you’re going to have to farm them individually per character. Marks of Fellowship can still help you buy gems faster on another hero.
If you plan to run high-level dungeons and farm gems, you should be well-prepared and have the Best Gear to ensure that you hit the timer. Prepare well before dungeons, or ask our team to get you the best-in-slots for your hero, which you can further improve with gems.
Fellowship Gem Sockets
After you reach the Adept League, gem sockets start appearing on your equipment. You can insert gems into sockets and gain Gem Power based on the gem’s tier. It’s a core aspect of character progression, as every socketed piece adds actual substance to your build.
As of Season 3, sockets appear on Epic rarity or higher Cloaks, Wrists, Rings, and Legendary items. These item types can give you up to four sockets in total. Empowered Sockets have been removed, and Legendary items no longer provide a 100% Gem Power bonus.
Fellowship Gem Essence
Gem Essence is another Season 3 source of Gem Power. Instead of using a socketed gem, an item can roll Gem Essence in a Modifier Slot and grant +100 Gem Power of a random color.
Items can have up to +200 Gem Power through Gem Essence. The trade-off is simple: this modifier can replace a Trait, Blessing, or another useful stat roll. That makes it strong for reaching gem nodes, but not always the best pick for every build.
Fellowship Seal of the Heskyr
Seal of the Heskyr is a new 2-set bonus from Season 3. You can find it in Ruins of Ragath and Scryer’s Peak, and the set grants +25% Gem Power from all sources.
This bonus works with both socketed gems and Gem Essence. With Seal of the Heskyr active, a Flawless gem gives 625 Gem Power instead of 500, while a +100 Gem Essence modifier gives 125. That bonus can help you reach Rank 2 nodes much faster in proper endgame setups.
Fellowship Best Gem Setup While Leveling
While you are still climbing leagues and missing high-tier gems, a rainbow setup usually gives the best value. Spread low-tier gems across several colors instead of forcing one full track too early.
Later on, once you have Flawless gems and enough Marks of Fellowship, you can stack one or two colors that fit your hero’s build. For example, crit-heavy heroes usually care more about Amethyst, while cooldown-based setups often want Emerald.
Fellowship Gem Power and Effects
Your Gem Power represents how much total strength your gems add to your hero. To check it, open your character sheet and switch to the Gem Power tab at the bottom. This panel shows your total Gem Power, the number of gems you’ve collected, and most importantly, which gem effects you’ve unlocked.
Each gem color has its own progression path. Each color path contains two ranks of five effects, totaling ten. Rank 1 gives common bonuses, and Rank 2 replaces them with much superior ones when you invest more Gem Power into that color. Upgrade your RIO to be able to test Rank 1 or Rank 2 gems on practice with a high-skilled team.
The current Gem Power thresholds are 80, 150, 220, 300, 450, 600, 800, 1000, 1250, and 1500. These values replaced the older Season 2 requirements.
Fellowship Ruby Gems
Ruby Gems are meant to increase your primary stats, stamina, and boss performance. They’re all about staying healthy and strong during tough fights. Ruby is the best choice for tanks that require more resilience and stat scaling when fighting bosses.
You can access the first Ruby effects somewhat early on, but their Rank II upgraded versions are where they truly shine.

Fellowship Amethyst Gems
Amethyst Gems value critical strikes: critical strike chance and critical strike damage. They also reward hitting enemies that still have a lot of health, so they’re well-suited to aggressive or bursty setups that get high kill speed and stable crit uptime.

Fellowship Sapphire Gems
Sapphire Gems center on your Spirit of Heroism. Gems increase Spirit of Heroism duration, strength, Spirit stats, and Spirit Ability value, so hybrid or support heroes can scale both utility and output. This color deals with managing energy and extending longer burst intervals.

Fellowship Gem Power Overcapping
Once you have complete access to your gem tracks, then opportunities to advance still remain. Each colored track goes “beyond the terminal node” and stacks at this point; this feature goes under the name Gem Power Overcapping. This process allows a minor but consistent reward to those who still improve beyond the normal level of Gem Power threshold.
After 1500 Gem Power in a single color track, every 2 extra points above that threshold add +0.01% to your Primary Stat, Stamina, and Maximum Health. Although this increase may seem small initially, this progression scales well on high-end player characters, pushing later dungeon levels or end-game farming.
Fellowship Gems FAQ
If you’re just starting your gem journey in The Fellowship, here are some of the most common questions players ask about how gems, sockets, and Gem Power actually work.
How to Get Gems in Fellowship?
You start earning gems once you reach Contender 4, as dungeon rewards. Dungeon runs only drop Small gems, but greater difficulties increase your gem drop chance. You can also buy gems from Storekeeper Keiren for Marks of Fellowship.
How to Upgrade Gems in Fellowship?
Visit the Gem Jeweler to combine three gems of the same color and tier into one of the next rank. You can also use Unstable, Imbued, or Arcane Aether to transmute gems into different colors for better synergy.
What Gear Can Have Gem Sockets?
Sockets appear on Epic rarity or higher Cloaks, Wrists, Rings, and Legendary items. Season 3 removed Empowered Sockets, and Legendary items no longer give a 100% Gem Power bonus.
What Does Fellowship Gem Power Do?
Gem Power determines how far you can progress in each gem color’s effect track. The higher your total, the more passive and conditional bonuses you unlock.
What Is Gem Essence in Fellowship?
Gem Essence is an item modifier that grants +100 Gem Power of a random color without using a socket. An item can have up to +200 Gem Power through Gem Essence, but it takes modifier space.
Can You Go Beyond The Gem Power Cap?
Yes. After 1500 Gem Power in a color track, every 2 extra points grant +0.01% Primary Stat, Stamina, and Maximum Health, allowing dedicated players to keep improving their builds.
All in all, Fellowship Gems are must-have items if you want to get into high-tier dungeons with skilled parties. The better gem you put into your equipment, the stronger your hero becomes. Use the Jeweler often to improve your gear, run dungeons for smaller gems and combine them to get upgrades.
