Modern Warfare II will be released on October 28, 2022, and Warzone 2.0 — on November, 16. But already now we have a lot of information from the multiplayer beta, which we have collected in one article. Overgear saves you time and leaves you with nothing but pleasure.
CoD Modern Warfare II Overview
The Call of Duty series has always offered giant (32v32) Battlefield-style maps to its players. These game has always immersed us in the spirit of a full-scale global war (with tanks, planes, and underwater combat), and your usual goal is to hold the points. However, the last part of Call of Duty: Vanguard moved away from these principles, focusing on more chamber confrontations. And large-scale battles were transferred to another version of the game – Warzone. But the battles in the Warzone were in the battle royale genre, which, of course, killed all the epic confrontations a bit.
Ever since MWII and Warzone 2.0 were announced, there has been hoped for the return of epic battles… and after beta testing, it has come true. For now, it is two games within the same universe with the same innovations with only one difference. Warzone is a battle royale, and Modern Warfare II has many other mods and campaigns, which we will discuss below.
CoD Modern Warfare II Editions
You can already purchase the game in three different editions (Standard Edition, Cross Gen Bundle, Vault Edition). The Vault Edition includes a level 50 Battle Pass, early access to the beta, and a lot of cosmetics. Warzone is still free-to-play.
CoD Modern Warfare II New Rules
Strong weapon recoil and new ways to move defensively slowed the game down a bit. Now it’s more tactical and variable. For example, you can climb rocks, hang on them and shoot. Additionally, the Tac Sprint will be back, but we can’t shoot while sliding. Also swimming, diving, and driving underwater back in town. It sounds interesting and opens up “deep” possibilities for strategy.
CoD Modern Warfare II Maps and Game modes
Considering the failure of the MW2019 maps, Infinity Ward did a great job on the new ones. We already know about three 6v6 maps and two Battle maps. The battle maps will be much larger than the 6v6 and give us large-scale warfare.
Map Name | Mode |
Museum | 6v6 |
Grand Prix | 6v6 |
Farm 18 Training Facility | 6v6 |
Sariff Bay | Battle Map |
Sa’id | Battle Map |
In addition, it is known that some maps from Modern Warfare 2019 will return after small changes. Thus, the maps of the new MWII will be more traditional and reminiscent of the Infinity Ward experience.
Long-known mods will also remain unchanged, such as Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, and Search & Destroy. But we also get the Ground War mode (32v32) and Raids (3v3 mode, which is designed as tactical gameplay). The last mod is a bit like Rainbow Six, which is good for variety. They will also add two new 6v6 modes without the possibility of resurrection and one special with the third-person camera view — DMZ — which will resemble Escape from Tarkov in terms of gameplay.
CoD Modern Warfare II Weapons and Gunsmith
SMGs, LMGs, shotguns, knives, etc. stay in place. As always, among this variety of guns, there will be S-Tier (for example, M4), A-Tier (SCAR-L), and situational weapons, BUT the game will have a new weapon progression system — Gunsmith.
Gunsmith completely changes the leveling of your weapon. If earlier you improve weapons by your player level, now you have to level up a certain weapon. Thus, each weapon in the game has its own upgrade tree, which does not depend on the level of your character.
It is especially interesting that you do not need to open it again and again with already-known attachments. All of the attachments that you received when leveling up your main gun can be used on another one if it fits. In total, you can use up to 5 attachments on one weapon.
Of course, there will be plenty of customization options, as well as challenges that will give out special rewards for weapon customization.
As for field upgrades, such as cameras, decoy mines, EMP grenades, etc., all these unusual devices will remain unchanged. The same goes for the perk system. There will be no big changes: you have a set of perks, each of which has 4 perks, two basic ones, one bonus, and the ultimate perk. The more successful you are on the battlefield, the faster these perks will unlock: kills, objectives, assists and etc. will speed up the process.
Also, one of the novelties is “Al Mazrah” a new big map for Warzone 2.0.
The map is set in West Asia and you can already see what it looks like.
Ranked Games and Campaign
According to the latest information, Ranked Play mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 will be available shortly after launch.
Moreover, it is known that “the ranked system MWII uses will be the one VG has”. This is very good because the MW2019 ranking system did not have ELO points, due to this fact the matches were sometimes “unsuccessful”. Vanguard’s ranked mode has a competitive ruleset and an actual set of ranks to grind through.
As for the campaign, everything is already known about it. We will do without spoilers, but let’s say that the actions will take place in South America against drug cartels. In the course of the story, many familiar faces will appear, and there will be 15 missions in total. Interestingly, many of the missions take place in the present day, such as on October 26, 2022.
In beta testing, the game looks very promising. However, the grind will be just as promising: both cosmetics and ELO. But you are already on the right site that will save you from this routine.
