Season 3 of Black Ops 7 started on April 2, 2026, and Survivors of Ash is one of the best free Zombies reward tracks this season. You only have to complete six challenges to get the rewards: a Legendary Echo 12 Shotgun Blueprint at the fifth challenge and an animated mastery camo at the end. The best part is that everything happens on one map, so it feels like you’re making progress instead of just wandering around.
BO7 Survivors of Ash Event Key Takeaways:
- The survivor mode of Ash is only compatible with Ashwood Survival — any kills in Multiplayer, Warzone, or Endgame do not count towards any challenge.
- There are six challenges; complete each of them and earn the Ethereal Barriers Animated Weapon Camo as a Mastery reward.
- Challenge 5 grants the Deadender Echo 12 Shotgun Blueprint, which is an item of the Legendary level and would otherwise be stored behind what is purchased in stores.
- Five out of six challenges overlap between sessions. The only challenge that needs only one continuous match is the 150 Critical Kills challenge.
- Every reward is absolutely free, there is no Battle Pass tier or CoD Points required.
What Is the CoD Survivors of Ash Event?
Survivors of Ash is an independent challenge-completion event in Black Ops 7 Zombies Season 3 — the Lost Outpost event, which happens in Multiplayer, Warzone, and Endgame at the same time. Various reward tracks, various maps, various grind. Kills made elsewhere should not be counted here.
Its map, the Ashwood Survival, is based on the Ashes of the Damned round-based map and recreated as a standalone Survival experience. A town of the Dark Aether stuck in the Civil War era, with a tight layout and environmental traps all over. It is small enough that the challenge-hunting does not seem to struggle with the map structure.
Want to complete the event without having to spend any time on the grind? Our Survivors of Ash service got you covered!
The Survivors of Ash event is a prolonged event that lasts throughout the BO7 Season 3. Seasonal events in CoD do not have a separate end date, and instead end with the season, thus your actual deadline is when Season 4 goes live. Do not sit on the round 25 no-down challenge.
All Survivors of Ash Challenges and Rewards
Every challenge has its own dedicated reward. The table below covers the Black Ops 7 Survivors of Ash full challenge list — note how the difficulty curve intentionally holds the best items until the later challenges.
| Challenge | Reward |
|---|---|
| Get 15 kills with a single trap 10 times | Corpse Wrangler — Emblem |
| Get 150 Critical Kills in a single match | Soda Fountain — GobbleGum ×1 |
| Kill 25 zombies without taking damage 5 times | Tattered — Weapon Charm |
| Get 1,000 kills on Ashwood Survival | Barriers — Weapon Camo |
| Complete 10 Special Rounds on Ashwood Survival | Deadender — Echo 12 Shotgun Blueprint (Legendary) |
| Reach Round 20 without going down | Hidden Power — GobbleGum ×1 |
Complete all six and the Ethereal Barriers Animated Weapon Camo unlocks automatically — no extra step required. It’s a Black Ops 7 Season 3 exclusive. There’s no confirmed alternate path to get it after the season closes.
📌 The Deadender Echo 12 Blueprint is the headline item here. Legendary Blueprints at this tier normally cost CoD Points through the store. Challenge 5 is the only free path to it in Season 3.
How to Complete Every Survivors of Ash Challenge in Black Ops 7
Load into Ashwood Survival from the Black Ops 7 Zombies menu — it’s listed as a standalone map as of the BO7 Season 3 launch. All six challenges must be completed there. Here’s how to approach each one without wasting sessions.
Challenge 1 — Trap Kills: 15 Kills With One Trap, 10 Times
The trap challenge is the most match-dependent of the six, but the 10-activation requirement is cumulative across matches, thus there is no need to clear it all in a single sitting.
There are a number of environmental traps located by Ashwood on the primary zombie pathing lanes. The move is patience, do not start it until 15 or more zombies are surrounding the activation area. Rounds 8-12 are the practical round: it is dense enough to pile the zombies up, but it is not so frantic that they can cross lanes before you can funnel them. Spreading rates are raised with a Rampage Inducer, and it is much easier to cluster.
Challenge 2 — 150 Critical Kills in a Single Match
This is the only challenge that does not accumulate, it has to be finished during one match. Critical kills are referred to as headshots, and 150 of them involve staying in the round until the kills accumulate themselves.
It is more crucial here to choose the weapons than in other sections of this Black Ops 7 event. The least dirty is the MK35 ISR Assault Rifle, unlocked by the BO7 Season 3 Battle Pass, with the lowest recoil in the weapon category, the highest rate, and the same middle-range accuracy, which makes it possible to follow headshots at long range. It is also possible to play with the VST SMG at closer distances, although the engagement windows will be narrower and it will be harder to maintain consistency.
Prepare Perkaholic or powerful defensive GobbleGum stack before loading. Reaching Round 1820 in a steady run is the difference between beating the race at 150 easily and losing at the end of the match. The majority of the players who cannot pass this challenge do not die but exit or reset prematurely.
If you need to make the grind easier, getting RBZ Ammo Mods can make event challenge completion easier throughout Season 3.
Challenge 3 — 25 Kills Without Taking Damage, 5 Times
Every 25-kill clean run will be one stack of the 5 needed. Hitting a hit re-initiates the running run, not your cumulative. It will still be five with three clean runs in one session and two in the other. Indulgent, more than it was claimed.
It is better to remain on foot in the open streets of Ashwood than to be on corners. Large kiting loops as it fires at a trailing horde give the damage-free window many more seconds than when it is stationary, which quickly tends to fail when zombie pathing is not on your side. The primary threat to clean runs is melee-type enemies — prioritize them when they come into sight.
Challenge 4 — 1,000 Kills on Ashwood Survival
Pure accumulation, unconditional. All kills on the map are counted, in any session, regardless of the mode using Ashwood. Insist on the high rounds per session, and this fills in as a byproduct of attacking the other challenges.
Zombie Battle mode — the new Black Ops 7 Season 3 free-for-all Zombies mode — is played in the Starting Room of Ashwood and creates a steady kill density in a more hectic format. Door Buys, Exfil, and GobbleGums are limited, but the speed is effective in case you want to kill the number of kills in particular.
Challenge 5 — Complete 10 Special Rounds on Ashwood Survival
Special Rounds — mostly Hellhound rounds and similar enemy waves, happen more or less randomly, about every 4-6 rounds. To complete 10 of them you must dedicate lengthier periods to doing so as opposed to exfilling at Round 10 every time. The number is transferred between matches.
Going to Round 20+ per session yields about 3-4 Special Rounds. This is dealt with in three or four solid sessions. At the end is Deadender Echo 12 Blueprint, a Legendary item that cannot be acquired freely in any other way in Season 3.
📌 Special Rounds don’t trigger on a fixed schedule — RNG can bunch two of them close together or space them out across 8+ rounds. Stay patient in longer runs and don’t exfil at the first slow stretch.
If you don’t have the time to grind, we can handle the Survival Mode for you instead!
Challenge 6 — Reach Round 20 Without Going Down
The hardest part of Black Ops 7 Survivors of Ash. One down ends the attempt. Playing alone takes away the chance that your teammate’s death will cause you to fail. If you’re running in a group, be careful about how you work together. But if you’re running alone, it’s easier. Set up priorities before loading in:
- Juggernog from the Random Perk Machine as early as Round 2 — non-negotiable, and worth spending on even at inflated early-round prices
- Perkaholic GobbleGum to lock in full perk coverage without hunting machines mid-run
- Monkey Bombs or equivalent crowd control for Rounds 15–20, where most attempts fall apart
- Slow kiting through Rounds 12–18 rather than aggressive clearing — overextending here kills more attempts than the actual zombie difficulty does
The danger zone is between rounds 12 and 18. The speed of zombies’ moves goes up a lot, and the spawn clustering gets tighter. People who play it like the first few rounds get stuck. Those who make it through play carefully and are okay with killing fewer zombies in exchange for staying clean. Struggling with this one? Having a bunch of BO7 Gobblegums can make challenge completion easier.
Survivors of Ash Event FAQ
This Survivors of Ash event FAQ covers the main things players want to know. Here you can find how the event works, when it ends, what rewards you can get, and which challenges may slow you down.
Can Survivors of Ash Challenges Be Completed on Other Zombies Maps?
No. All six challenges are only available in Ashwood Survival. Even though Ashwood Survival shares visual assets with Ashes of the Damned, progress on Ashes of the Damned, Paradox Junction, Astra Malorum, or any other map does not count toward the event.
Does Challenge Progress Save Between Sessions?
Five of the six challenges save automatically on the server between sessions. The 150 Critical Kills challenge is different, though. If you leave the match or exfiltrate before you reach 150, that counter resets. All other challenges build up over time across different sessions.
Is the Survivors of Ash Event Available in Warzone or Multiplayer?
No. Survivors of Ash is only for zombies. Lost Outpost, the other event in Season 3, lets you play across Multiplayer, Warzone, Endgame, and Zombies, but the rewards for those are completely different.
What Is the Deadender Echo 12 Blueprint?
In Black Ops 7, the Deadender is a Legendary Weapon Blueprint for the Echo 12 Shotgun. In Season 3, this is the only free way to get this item. You can get it by completing 10 Special Rounds on Ashwood Survival, which is the challenge 5 reward in Survivors of Ash. You don’t need to buy anything from the store or use CoD Points.
Does Cursed Mode on Ashwood Count Toward Survivors of Ash Challenges?
In Cursed Mode, you can earn GobbleGums and the Mannequin Turret Weapon Charm by completing Rounds 25, 50, and 75 with active Relics. You can also count your total kills in Cursed Mode toward the 1,000-kill challenge, but check your in-game event tracker to be sure. There is no sharing of progress between the two tracks.
How Long Does It Take to Complete All Six Challenges?
Realistically 6–10 hours of focused play across multiple sessions for most players. The Round 25 no-down challenge and the 10 Special Rounds are the two time gates — everything else accumulates naturally during normal Zombies sessions. Players pushing Round 25+ per session will finish faster and close out the Special Rounds challenge in 3–4 runs.
How Do I Track My Survivors of Ash Progress?
Open the Events tab from the main Black Ops 7 menu. The Survivors of Ash tracker shows each challenge’s current progress count and the reward tied to it. Challenge completions register in real time — no need to back out between rounds to check.
If you’re playing Black Ops 7 Season 3 in challenge mode, Ashwood Survival is a great map to use. The design encourages the kind of conscious action that the harder challenges really need, instead of getting in the way of both the goals and the terrain at the same time. Finish the Round 25 challenge before the second half of the season!
