4.9Scourge Invasions Release Date
In Season of Discovery Phase 7, the Scourge Invasion starts with Regional Resets, after January 28th, 2025. Scourge Invasions Duration in Season of Discovery is unknown yet, but most likely it will last till the end of Phase 7:
The Scourge marches once more and the horrors which serve the Lich King have begun to seed the lands of Azeroth with the plague of undeath. Join with the Argent Dawn in this world event to put a stop to them. Unlike in previous iterations of the Scourge Invasion, there is no end in sight.

Key points about the Scourge Invasions release:
- Phase 7: The Scourge Invasions are part of Phase 7 of the Season of Discovery;
- Naxxramas release: The Naxxramas Raid, which is also part of Phase 7, will be released a week later on February 6, 2025.
How to Complete Scourge Invasions
What is Scourge Invasions in Season of Discovery? The Scourge Invasion is a remarkable part of the World of Warcraft Classic story. The Necropolis will appear above six zones, and the Undead will rise beneath them. Under the Necropolis you will find a Crystal around which the Undead will gather. You have to clear the Undead to damage the crystal and remove Necropolis from the area.
When you damage the crystal, Cultist Engineers will try to repair it. To stop the process, you need to pay each of them 8 Necrotic Runes. However, this is not the end. The engineers will transform into Shadow of Doom, who you need to encounter. Taking all 4 Shadow of Dooms down will reward you with Necrotic Rune (30), Corruptor’s Scourgestone, Robe of Undead Cleansing, Tunic of Undead Slaying, Chestguard of Undead Slaying, Breastplate of Undead Slaying.
As soon as you kill all 4 Engineers, the area will be temporarily cleansed. The clearing of the circle will buff you with Soul Revival. After winning 150 battles, you can visit Light’s Hope Chapel or speak with an Argent Dawn representative in your city to claim Marks of the Dawn, which vary based on your level:
- Lesser Mark of the Dawn;
- Mark of the Dawn;
- Greater Mark of the Dawn — grants a +30 Stamina boost, but you can hold only three at a time.
If you feel your character is not ready yet to start the challenges that Scourge Invasions bring, Level Up in Dungeons, and don’t worry — you will not skip any of the events.
Scourge Invasions Loot
During the Season of Discovery Scourge Invasions event tons of various loot will be available for completing the quests, slaying mobs, and exploring the area. For instance, Necrotic Rune can be exchanged for:
- Blessed Wizard Oil — weapon oil to increase spell damage against undead;
- Consecrated Sharpening Stone — sharpening stone to increase attack power against undead;
- Tabard of the Argent Dawn and reputation with Argent Dawn.
Plus, you will be able to get New Undead Slaying Armor sets. All these rewards are rather useful and can come in handy in Naxxramas. During the Scourge Invasions in Season of Discovery Phase 7 major cities of both factions will be under attack. The Necropolis floating in the sky will signify the beginning of the invasion. So, in the major cities of Horde and Alliance, you will find Argent Dawn agents and Argent Recruiters, quest givers of the Light’s Hope Chapel quest.
Scourge Invasions will take place in 6 major zones, and they are marked on your World Map with a purple skull:

Scourge Invasions Rare World Spawns
Each area of Invasion is a place where Rare Spawns can appear. There are 3 mobs who can spawn in the Scourge Invasions area:
Each of these mobs can drop valuable items and Epic Bracers for your class.
Rare Instance Spawns
In several dungeons, you will also have a chance to find a Rare Spawn. They will grant you extra rewards, so do not miss these mobs:
- Balzaphon — Live Stratholme;
- Scorn — Scarlet Monastery Graveyard;
Scourge Invasions Quests
When the SoD Scourge Invasions start, you will be able to complete several related Quests. In this section of our dedicated guide, we will provide information about each and every Scourge Invasions Quest, where to pick them, and how to complete them.
Light’s Hope Chapel
Quest: Light’s Hope Chapel;
Start: Argent Recruiter in major cities;
End: Light’s Hope Chapel, Eastern Plaguelands;
Completing: Speak to the Argent Recruiter to receive the quest Call to Arms Announcement, then travel to Light’s Hope Chapel. After completing the quest, you’ll receive A Letter from the Keeper of the Rolls in the mail, which begins The Keeper’s Call.
Investigate the Scourge
Quest: Investigate the Scourge;
Start: Major cities (Alliance/Horde);
End: Outside each major city, near Scourge Invasion sites;
Completing: Travel outside the city to find Scourge circles, kill Scourge, explore the area, and collect Dim Necrotic Stone (3) before completing the quest.

Alliance:
- Investigate the Scourge of Stormwind;
- Investigate the Scourge of Ironforge;
- Investigate the Scourge of Darnassus;
Horde:
- Investigate the Scourge of Orgrimmar;
- Investigate the Scourge of the Undercity;

Under the Shadow
Quest: Under the Shadow;
Start: Scourge Invasion areas (check your map for attack locations);
End: Commander Thomas Helleran at Light’s Hope Chapel, Eastern Plaguelands;
Completing: Find an active Scourge invasion, kill Scourge near a necropolis to weaken it, and collect Necrotic Rune (10). Turn them in to Commander Thomas Helleran. Completing this quest unlocks the ability to purchase items using Necrotic Rune from the Argent Quartermaster;
Reward: Blessed Wizard Oil (2) or Consecrated Sharpening Stone (2).
Quests from Loot Drops
Quest: Quests from Loot Drops;
Start: Scourge mobs (random drops);
End: Unspecified turn-in location;
Completing: While fighting Scourge during invasions, you may find special items that start quests when looted and right-clicked.
Possible quest-starting items:
- A Careworn Note → Begins Note from the Front;
- A Torn Letter → Begins Letter from the Front;
- A Bloodstained Envelope → Begins Envelope from the Front;
- A Ragged Page → Begins Page from the Front;
- A Crumpled Missive → Begins Missive from the Front;

Scourge Invasions Rewards
By completing special Scourge Invasions quests, defeating Scourge enemies, and gathering Necrotic Runes, you can unlock unique items, consumables, and gear upgrades. In the table below you can find the rewards obtainable with Necrotic Runes:

Sanctified Undead Slaying Armor
What you need to know about the Sanctified Undead Slaying Armor is that you can get the Gloves for completing a quest Argent Dawn Gloves (Alliance) / Argent Dawn Gloves (Horde).
